US judge rules Trump unlawfully cut Harvard University research grants

A federal judge in the United States has determined that President Donald Trump’s administration broke the law by canceling Harvard University’s research grants, which were worth more than $2.2 billion.

The Trump administration has attempted to impose policies that are hostile to pro-Palestine protests and diversity initiatives, but District Judge Allison Burroughs’ decision on Wednesday was a significant setback.

Burroughs explained in her order that the funding cuts violated the US Constitution’s First Amendment, which guarantees free speech.

The order states that “the Court vacates and sets aside the Freeze Orders and Termination Letters as violating the First Amendment.”

On or after April 14, 2025, Harvard has received any freezes or terminations of funding that were made in accordance with the Freeze Orders and Termination Letters.

Burroughs also refuted the Trump administration’s claims that Harvard had to stop denying its grants to do so in order to confront campus anti-Semitism. She instead cited a person’s ulterior desires.

According to Burroughs, it is difficult to draw any conclusions from the administrative record other than that defendants engaged in antisemitism as a pretext for a disproportionately ideologically motivated assault on this nation’s top universities.

Trump’s administration’s efforts to have greater control over higher education have been at the forefront of his administration’s efforts to do so. However, those actions were criticized as a violation of academic freedom and freedom of expression.

In response to threats to reduce federal funding, other prestigious US universities have entered into agreements with the government.

For instance, Columbia University consented to pay the Trump administration $ 220 million and follow administration demands, including changes to its disciplinary procedures and the appointment of a new provost to ensure “balanced” curricula.

Brown University also reached a compromise to get its money back, including paying Rhode Island’s workforce training programs $ 50 million.

Meanwhile, the University of Virginia’s president resigned in June amid a Department of Justice investigation into its diversity programs.

Trump has targeted Columbia and other schools because of their prominent roles in the anti-war demonstrations that broke out after Israel declared its occupation of Gaza in October 2023.

According to the Trump administration, those demonstrations created an unsafe environment for Jewish students and promoted anti-Semitism. However, those claims have been refuted by student activists.

The activists also questioned in public whether Trump’s actions were actually motivated by concerns about anti-Semitism and civil rights on campus.

According to critics, the Trump administration allegedly abused anti-Semitism as a pretext to impose itself more control over academic activity. Additionally, they point out that little attention has been paid to pro-Palestine student harassment and even violent behavior.

The Trump administration released a list of obligations Harvard must comply with in April as the school suffered significant funding cuts.

Those demands included ending the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, accepting an audit of its student admissions, and changing its disciplinary practices.

However, Harvard resisted, becoming the first top university to do so. Alan Garber, president of the university, stated that his views on the demands were infringing on academic freedom.

Trump has since threatened to revoke Harvard’s tax-exempt status and, among other things, to a ban on accepting international students.

Ozzy Osbourne’s family ‘never expected’ he would die so soon after farewell show

Ozzy Osbourne’s death just days after his massive Black Sabbath farewell show at Villa Park in Birmingham was revealed by Jack Osbourne’s family, who has not yet known.

Ozzy Osbourne’s son Jack has revealed “no one expected” he would die just days after performing his farewell show. The music icon sadly died in July aged 76 just 17 days after taking to the stage for one last time.

He made an epic comeback with Black Sabbath and performed solo at his Back to the Beginning concert in his hometown of Birmingham. Ozzy was joined by his rock pals as they put on one of the greatest send off shows in music history.

Just over two weeks later, the tragic news of Ozzy’s death broke. He died at the family home in Buckinghamshire after wanting to return to the UK with wife Sharon for years.

Ozzy and Sharon had been open about his condition after receiving a Parkinson’s diagnosis, but the couple’s family acknowledged that considering his death wasn’t on their “radar.” After learning the news at his Los Angeles home, Jack immediately flew to England to visit with his family.

He said he just felt “sadness and pain” upon hearing the news but did find comfort that Ozzy was no longer in pain. “There was a level of okay he’s not suffering anymore,” Jack said on his YouTube channel.

He doesn’t have any problems, which is good. I long for him to be with us all, and I long for him to be. However, he was clearly having an unpleasant time, and I believe that was apparent at the event.

No one anticipated it to occur as quickly as it did, and when it did, Jack explained, describing how Ozzy’s death shocked people. It wasn’t something we were anticipating.

After that, he made a decision to dispel any rumors that Ozzy planned to pass away after the show. According to Jack, “I know that in the lead up to it, there was a lot of planning going on with my dad going to Switzerland to put himself to death.”

It wasn’t absolutely not that this was, it was. That is absolutely absurd and false. Jack explained to Jack that Ozzy was “so happy” that he had been able to take one last step backstage and that he was getting ready to retire.

He “joked” to enter this stage of his life, “Jack shared.” He desired to travel to England longer. He desired to have my children spend more time with.

He “wished to devote as much time to exploring different things as much as he could.” Jack recalls the day Ozzy passed away by knocking on my home door at around 3:45 in the morning from a person who had worked for my family for God for almost 30 years.

I just knew something bad had happened when I looked through my window and realized it was him. My father passed away, I was informed.

“Just sadness, pain, and so many thoughts,” the phrase goes. You experience this feeling of depressed, angry, and anger that seems to me necessary at this very moment.

Wuthering Heights trailer with Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi dubbed ‘tacky’ and ‘garish’

The new Wuthering Heights movie adaptation’s first trailer has been released, and it’s obvious Emerald Fennell’s take on the classic novel will be very provocative.

Fans of Wuthering Heights claim the new film adaptation is “worse than you could ever imagine.”

Emily Bronte fans have been left divided as the first look at the latest Wuthering Heights movie adaptation has been revealed. The iconic dark romance is set to get the Hollywood treatment with Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie in the leading roles.

Saltburn director Emerald Fennell’s hotly anticipated movie adaptation set on the lonesome Yorkshire Moors has been given a saucy makeover, with many fearing it is a far cry from the classic book. The opening scene sees a man ejaculates while being executed, with other risqué scenes teased.

In the new trailer, Charli xcx’s hit Everything Is Romantic acts as a soundtrack as viewers are introduced to Margot and Jacob as Catherine and Heathcliff.

According to those who have already seen the full film, Oscar-nominated Fennel’s adaptation of Bronte’s classic novel was “aggressively provocative,” with mixed reviews coming out of advanced screenings.

And the first trailer undoubtedly sparked some contradictory opinions among social media commentators as well. A stunning close-up of Margot is followed by a stunning shot of a grand estate nestled in the West Yorkshire moors. We are suddenly shown a close-up of two female hands kneading bread.

A shirtless, bare, glistening back, a man handling hay in a stable, more bread-kneading, fingers tracing through egg yolks, Margot’s Catherine placing her fingers on Jacob’s face, a woman wearing horse tack, and, naturally, a finger probing the mouth of a fish are what follows in a montage of more traditional images.

Fennell’s interpretation appears to be divisive.

“It’s worse than you could ever imagine,” one Twitter (X) user penned in reaction to the trailer going live. “This looks and feels garish & tacky as sh** lmao god bless,” another added as a third fumed: “someone take away emerald fennell’s directing license i’m so serious.”

But some are excited to see the latest adapation of Wuthering Heights when it lands in cinemas on Valentine’s Day next year. “It looks stunning and erotic. (In the best way),” one fan quipped, as another gushed: “Margot Robbie + Jacob Elordi in a gothic Valentine’s release? That’s gonna pack theaters.”

One viewer described Fennell’s interpretation of the movie as “aggressively provocative and tonally abrasive” at the film’s first test screening last month. The movie begins with a public hanging where the “condemned man ejaculates mid-execution,” according to reports following the screening. A nun “fondles the corpse’s visible erection” while the crowd of people watching the execution then reacts orgiastically.

Some people have questioned Margot’s age in the role of Catherine.

Jacob gushed about the upcoming film earlier this year, saying, “The performances from everyone are breathtaking. It’s a truly wonderful romance. It’s an authentic epic. It has stunning visuals. The writing is stunning. The costumes are incredible.

Jacob being cast as Heathcliff initially sparked some controversary, due to the character being described as hating dark skin in Bronte’s book. Casting director, Karmel Cochrane, defended the decision to place a white man in the role earlier this year.

“There was one Instagram comment that said the casting director should be shot,” she said. “But just wait till you see it, and then you can decide whether you want to shoot me or not. But you really don’t need to be accurate. It’s just a book. That is not based on real life. It’s all art.”

After missing the previous year’s competition due to conflicting schedules with the Paralympics, wheelchair tennis is making its way back to New York.

Oasis branded ‘free riders’ as Gallagher brothers’ feud with online retailer escalates

The band’s attempts to trademark their logo design have been criticized by the retailer of the same name, with the Gallagher brothers currently reportedly being branded “free riders” by the company.

Noel and Liam Gallagher has been slammed by an online fashion retailer who has labelled Oasis as “free riders”. Clothing brand Oasis criticised the group’s application to trademark the band’s logo.

They object to the movement because the logo is “identical” to their own. However, it’s reported that the Mancunian group has reportedly hired legal counsel to defend their position. The brothers’ earlier in the year submitted an application to the Intellectual Property Office for the trademark logo.

According to reports, they are considering using the white lettering on a black background on a number of products, including clothing brands, toys, and cosmetics. And it’s believed that Noel, 48, and Liam, 52, turned to Beck Greener for the fight.

They once helped Paul O’Grady in his fight against a brewery who were trying to name a beer by his alter-ego, Lily Savage.

Noel and Liam are not reversing, according to a source. Their teams are confident in their ability to succeed. According to them, “If there is no resolution after the mediation period, the case will go to a tribunal.”

However, the former high street giant store, which is currently only available online, claims that if the band succeeds, it will “obtain an unfair advantage by free-riding on the opponent’s trademark, thereby potentially increasing sales of its goods”.

The musicians have been touring as a result of the scenario. The band has now crossed the water following a smashing UK and Ireland leg.

They have given performances in the US and will next weekend take to the Mexican stage. However, a fan who had the opportunity to witness them on both sides of the Atlantic has come to know that now that they are heading to the states has noticed a significant change.

The retailer is not impressed,

The Mirror US’s deputy entertainment editor, Kirsty McCormack, expressed her gratitude to The Mirror US for spending “every penny” watching Oasis live on August 3. These kinds of memories are incomparable.

There’s nothing better than being surrounded by hundreds, if not thousands, of total strangers who are equally fond of a band as you are. Even though it’s nice to have a seat at a concert occasionally, I was SO glad to be in the middle, even if it did feel like a workout at times! “

Before she was able to get a ticket of her own, Kirsty, who is based in New York, admitted to feeling a little jealous toward some friends who had tickets to the New Jersey dates at the end of August.

She admitted, “I was skeptical about how the US crowd would compare to the UK crowd. I went to the pop-up store in Manhattan last week and met a fantastic turnout of American and British fans eager to see the NJ shows.

She acknowledged that the night’s atmosphere simply wasn’t the same as it was on the night with just a hint of sadness. She claimed that the atmosphere simply wasn’t the same. One of my friends responded to my Instagram Story the following morning and said, “The crowd is small!

No shade to the Americans, but they appeared to be very reserved. Remaining silent, I actually feel bad for the people next to me and my partner! Oasis is the band you can really let loose to, in my opinion!
