In what police in southwest Pakistan’s Quetta, police say a suicide bombing targeted a political rally left at least 11 people dead.
According to reports, the bomb detonated as people were leaving the rally, according to government official Hamza Shafaat, who added that another 30 people were hurt.
After the rally was over, Sajid Tareen, a senior leader of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M), confirmed that the explosion took place in the car park and that several party members had been hurt.
At Quetta’s Shahwani Stadium, hundreds of BNP-M members gathered to pay tribute to Sardar Ataullah Mengal’s passing on the anniversary.
According to Shafaat, Sardar Akhtar Mengal, his son, who was present, is thought to be safe.
Five people were killed on Tuesday in Balochistan, which is close to Iran’s border, in an additional attack.
No one has yet apologised for the explosions.
