She added a matching mesh cape and touches of silver jewellery, including a dazzling band across her chest. Michelle is welcoming her first child with her husband Jasper Waller-Bridge, who is brother of Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

The Lady Mary Crawley actress, who has been part of Downton Abbey since it hit screens 15 years ago, and Jasper wed in September 2023 in a stunning London ceremony. Michelle opted for a chic and simple satin gown to walk down the aisle while Jasper opted for a traditional three-piece navy blue suit.

Celebrity guests included Mamma Mia actress Lily James and Michelle’s Downton Abbey co-star Joanne Froggatt. Elizabeth McGovern, Hugh Bonneville, Lesley Manville and Lesley Nicol were also spotted watching the happy couple tie the knot.

Her wedding came seven years on from the heartbreaking death of her fiance, Irish publicist John Dineen. John sadly died in 2015, 15 months on from first being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer aged 34.

Michelle and John became engaged in 2013 but sadly never made it down the aisle. Speaking during a rare interview in 2017, two years on from John’s death, Michelle explained how she considered herself to be a widow despite never officially marrying John.

“We were engaged, and married at heart,” Michell told the Guardian, “so [yes,] I do consider myself a widow.” Michelle managed to find love again in 2019, meeting her now husband Jasper through mutual friends after spending time together at the Rome film festival.

It is believed Michelle, who threw herself into work following John’s death, struck up a friendship with her now sister-in-law Phoebe prior to beginning a romance with Jasper. The couple announced their engagement via a formal announcement in The Times newspaper in January 2022.

It read: “The engagement is announced between Jasper, son of Michael Waller-Bridge of King’s Lynn, Norfolk, and Teresa Waller-Bridge of Battersea, London, and Michelle Dockery, younger daughter of Michael and Lorraine Dockery of Gidea Park, Essex.”

Freddy Brazier is receiving the full support from his dad Jeff and brother Bobby following the news he is expecting to become a dad. The model, 20, is preparing to welcome his first child with his ex-girlfriend.

TV presenter Jeff was said to have wanted to help Freddy in any way he can after reconnecting with each other. Their relationship became strained when Freddy, who is Jeff and the late Jade Goody’s youngest son, went to live with his maternal grandmother Jackiey Budden.

Freddy claimed she got him “hooked on drugs” when he was just 12-years-old, with Jeff turning to legal support to stop them from seeing each other. The father and son appeared back on track with each other this summer as they were spotted spending time together again.

Freddy’s baby news is also said to have played a part, with Jeff and Bobby’s support now clear for all to see. While he has remained silent on the pregnancy, Freddy returned to social media to share a cryptic post about preferring dogs to people.

He could be seen surrounded by a group of dogs while a huge smile on his face as he asked his followers: “Do you Prefer dogs or people?” Freddy answered himself as he added: “I personally at this moment in time prefer dogs.”

His older Strictly Come Dancing star brother Bobby left a string of laugh crying emojis on the post, which prompted Freddy to open up more. He said: “People are draining, dogs are healing!”

Bobby decided to step in and offer support to his younger brother as he replied: “People that do draining things together are draining i guess? Good news is There’s great people waiting to love and serve the deepest part of you.

“With that being said those dogs look like they love you very much.” Dad Jeff also shared his support to Freddy as he commented: “Love this Fred. This was made for you!”

Last week a source explained: “It has been one of the things that has really brought Freddy and his dad back together but it’s so devastating that Jade isn’t here to see it.

“Jeff was one of the first people Freddy decide to confide in to ask for advice, and he stepped up straight away and wanted to help in any way he could,” a source told the Mail on Sunday.

Jeff has raised both his sons as a single dad after the death of their mum Jade Goody to cancer in 2009. Bobby was just five at the time while Freddy was four.

Last month, Freddy decided to lay bare the extent of what he has been going through after revealing he was going to rehab earlier this year. “I’ve been smoking since I was 12,” he said.

“I’ve been to rehab, I’ve been sectioned, I’ve had manic episodes, I’ve been in cells. There’s been a real journey and it’s been a tough one. My nan was definitely the person who not only introduced me to weed but got me hooked,” Freddy said.

Addressing his relationship with dad Jeff and why he spent so much time with his nan, Freddy sadly explained: “I feel like if I didn’t prioritise the relationship with my mum’s mum Jackiey… I was scared that if I wasn’t [around her], she’d kill herself.

“And I had that in my head for so long to the point where I pushed my dad away and I was at my nan’s for months, go on mad ones…” Jackiey dismissed Freddy’s claims, insisting she wasn’t to blame for any trouble and claiming the youngster had got in with a ‘bad crowd.’

US Open 2025

Dates: August 24 through September 7 in Flushing Meadows, New York

Alex de Minaur received another heartbreaking Grand Slam quarter-final defeat with Felix Auger-Aliassime’s spirited victory to reach the US Open’s final four.

The Canadian came from a set down to win 4-6 7-6 (9-7) 7-5 7-6 (7-4) and reach the semi-finals at a major for the first time since 2021.

De Minaur, from Australia, has reached six Grand Slam quarter-finals, including three in New York, but has not yet advanced past that stage.

With a total of 22 double faults and 93 unforced errors, the back-and-forth match occasionally struggled on both sides of the net.

“I believe it was just a lot of nerves today throughout the entire game,” said Auger-Aliassime.

“Some days you won’t feel your best, but I was willing to go really deep to stand here right now,” said the player. “It wasn’t pretty at all.”

The biggest challenges are still ahead, but that’s what I’m passionate about, so I’ll show up and be ready for my Friday match.

De Minaur quickly found his rhythm in front of a sparse crowd as the game progressed.

As the seats on Arthur Ashe Stadium began to fill up, the action sounded a constant murmur of chatter that served as the soundtrack.

De Minaur had just enough time to seal the opening set when Auger-Aliassime dropped the serve to lead 3-2, but he came back in the next match and saved a third break point.

De Minaur started to struggle after taking the second set on a tie-break, Auger-Aliassime surged to a lead of 3-2 in the third set.

De Minaur, a tenacious defensive player, was unable to break through, but Auger-Aliassime regained control in the following game before deciding to end the set.

Before the fourth, De Minaur gathered himself before the fourth and then re-energized.

He was on course to score a decisive goal with a quick break, but he lost his way at 5-2 and made it impossible for Auger-Aliassime to force a tie-break.

Lagos Insists Developers Must Obtain EIA Approval For All Projects

For all projects development projects across the state, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) approval is required, according to the Lagos Government. &nbsp,

Olakunle Rotimi-Akodu, the Special Adviser on Environment, made this known during a stakeholder meeting on environmental impact assessment (EIA) for Lagos State real estate professionals and project developers held in Ikeja, Lagos.

Before the EIA process begins, he claims, all developers and builders must do so.

Before construction begins, Rotimi-Akodu explained that projects for 5-floor buildings and above, 8 apartments and above, shopping malls, gas stations, industrial facilities, sand mining projects, dredging, land reclamation, among others, must be approved before the structures can begin to take shape.

He claimed that the Lagos State government would not be reluctant to impose regulations in the interests of public safety and sustainable development whenever necessary.

The special adviser makes it clear that the environmental management tool EIA must be used by both the private and public sectors (Real Estate Sector stakeholders) to achieve sustainable development.

According to him, Lagos State has remained Nigeria’s top destination for investors and businesses, citing the growing population, modern infrastructure, and sound policies that have continued to foster a favorable environment for businesses to flourish.

He explained that the creation of industrial facilities, the construction of new settlements, the development of estates, and other real estate-induced environmental effects range from air, land, and water pollution to sometimes irreversible environmental degradation if not properly managed.

He claimed that the government is determined to maintain its commitment to protecting the environment and the public health, and that the EIA process is an essential tool for protecting the environment and ensuring sustainable development in accordance with international best practices.

The said EIA is a formal procedure for determining the likely effects of a proposed activity or project on the environment, human health, and socio-economic activities. It also aids in determining the likely negative and beneficial effects of a project with the goal of putting in place measures to reduce or mitigate the negative effects.

Read more about Sanwo-Olu’s celebration of the second anniversary of the Lagos Blue Rail, which reduces costs by 50%.

The State cannot afford this expense in the face of other pressing needs because everyone is folding their hands and watching development activities harm the environment and destroy the fragile ecosystem costs, according to the Special Advisor.

He reiterated that the real estate and construction sectors, along with other sectors, contribute significantly to the state’s GDP and provide thousands of jobs, including those in project development, architecture, engineers, artisans, construction materials, suppliers, facility managers, among others.

Tajudeen Gaji, the Permanent Secretary of Office Environmental Services, also spoke at a time when all hands must be in the game to ensure sustainable development in the State.

The EIA is a crucial safeguarding measure that has been widely used to safeguard the environment and public health around the world.

It uses early identification of likely negative and positive effects that could be the result of a proposed project as its objective and provides recommendations for either reducing, reducing, or reducing the negative impacts.

He emphasized that while projects develop have obvious advantages, they also have harmful environmental and social effects that need to be effectively managed or mitigated.

He claimed that if everyone ignored these effects, they would further degrade the already fragile state’s ecosystem and, in turn, put public health and safety at risk.

In his lecture, Olasunkanmi Sojinu, the director of the Environmental Assessment Department, made reference to the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law 2017 and the EIA Act, which mandate that all significant developments must undergo the process and obtain appropriate approval before proceeding.
