Chris Hughes dropped from BBC hosting role in huge presenter shake-up

Chris Hughes started out in fame with his role on Love Island, but he has since taken on a variety of TV presenting responsibilities, including appearing on ITV2’s reality series Celebrity Big Brother.

Chris won’t be making a comeback.

Chris Hughes has been dropped from his BBC hosting role in a huge presenter shake-up, it has been reported. The former Love Island star previously took on the role of a presenter on the cricket competition the Hundred since it launched in 2021.

However, it’s believed that Chris won’t be playing the part again this year. A derby between London Spirit and Oval Invincibles at Lord’s on Tuesday is scheduled to start The Hundred.

The BBC and Sky Sports both share the TV rights for the competition. It’s believed that bosses are wanting to put more focus on the actual sport of the competition rather than using celebrities to market it as an entertainment show.

The Hundred was previously presented by Chris.
The Hundred was previously presented by Chris.

According to a BBC spokesman, Chris has worked well for four years, but things are going in a different direction. This year, cricket will be put under more scrutiny than just being a entertainment show to promote the Hundred.

The presenting team will be led by former England internationals Isa Guha and Alex Hartley, who both have extensive experience with the game. Chris Hughes will play the role of Rick Edwards from Radio Five Live.

The Mirror have contacted Chris’ reps and the BBC for comment.

This is the second sports job that Chris has lost in the last few months. Back in April, it was revealed that he was leaving ITV Racing after six years with them. This was reportedly due to a dispute over pay.

In the midst of “fall from grace,” Molly-Mae Hague claims to “can’t understand what she’s done wrong.”

Wynne Evans of Strictly Come Dancing breaks up with her fiancée weeks after making the proposal.

Chris’ cricket-related career wasn’t all that smooth as the BBC formally reprimanded him for making “unappropriate” remarks in 2023 after telling a female cricket player on television that she was “like a little Barbie.”

Southern Braves all-star Mailan Brown was discussing how the team had bonded after watching the Barbie Movie. She remarked, “We watched Barbie the other night all night, and it was really strong team chemistry.”

Then, Chris responded, “You’re a little Barbie yourself, aren’t you, with your blue eyes?” She is now blushing, Chris said, “Brown then laughed.”

A BBC spokesperson responded, “We have spoken to Chris and explained that his comment was inappropriate. ” The following year, Chris made a second The following year, Chris made a second Chris then began working for the BBC.

Chris first found fame when he appeared on Love Island. He struck up a spark at the time with Olivia Attwood but the pair didn’t last.

He has since gone on to appear on several reality shows, most recently Celebrity Big Brother. This is where he met his now-girlfriend JoJo Siwa after the duo got on like a house on fire during the series.

The pair initially appeared to be friends while watching the show, but once the cameras stopped, they decided to start dating.

Rylan Clark brands mum a ‘walking disaster’ as she suffers injury after hospital dash

Just weeks after being taken to the hospital with her son who had missed his BBC Radio 2 show, Linda, the celebrity gogglebox star, has admitted she’s been recovering from a recent injury.

Former X Factor star Clark, Ryan has branded his mother Linda a “walking disaster” live on the radio, after she opened up about struggling with another health issue. Rylan, 36, was presenting his BBC Radio 2 show on Saturday when he started talking with his mum on the phone, who informed him that she had sustained an injury to her arms at home.

She remarked, “I hurt my arms, didn’t I? ” Rylan responded, “Yeah, I know you injured my arm and wound me up!” Tell everyone about the arm injury you suffered. “

The ottoman’s lid came down as a result, Linda explained. And you’ve cut your entire arm, Rylan continued. “

Before apologizing, Linda responded, “Oh, it did hurt,” and then remarked, “If it ain’t one thing, it’s another, isn’t it?” ”. Rylan retorted, “That’s why you’re like a walking disaster right now,” and his mother unwaveringly agreed.

This isn’t the first time Rylan has provided fans with an update about his mum’s health, after the duo became beloved by fans on Celebrity Gogglebox.

Just weeks ago, Rylan announced that he would be absent from his BBC Radio 2 show because Linda had been rushed to hospital.

At the time of the incident, Rylan told fans on Instagram: ‘Mummy Linda isn’t well sadly so I won’t be hosting the show tomorrow.

“Thank you to the emergency team at Princess Alexandra Hospital. Will keep you updated as she’s on the mend. She’s a trooper.”

Later, Ryan was able to confirm that Linda, 73, who has Crohn’s disease, was allowed to travel home in time for her birthday on July 20.

However, Rylan has been open about his own well-being in recent months in addition to his mother’s health.

He spoke to The Times earlier this year about the health repercussions of his 2021 divorce from his ex-husband, Dan Neal.

The Doctor Who actor told the publication during a conversation about his morning routine: “The first thing I do is have a coffee, which has to be decaf after my heart failure four years ago. When I was getting divorced, I ended up in an ambulance twice

The only food I need is a sachet of collagen mixed into a shake, and I only have three or four cups to make myself function. I’m very picky about what I put in my mouth, whether or not; A tropical one is what I prefer. “

In a previous interview, Ryan previously discussed his difficulties in 2022, shortly after his breakup from Dan. There were times when I was unable to speak, he said to an audience at the Royal Festival Hall. Because I can represent England, that seems absurd.

My mother once expressed genuine concern that I had a stroke. My body seemed to have stopped working.

Farrell in ‘really good place’ to lead Lions again

JavaScript must be enabled in your browser to play this video.

According to Lions bosses, Andy Farrell has positioned himself well in 2029 to take over the British and Irish Lions in New Zealand.

After being defeated 22-12 by the Wallabies in Sydney on Saturday, Farrell guided the Lions to a 2-1 series victory over Australia.

When the Lions’ next head coach is chosen, according to chief executive Ben Calveley, the Lions will consider Farrell’s proven track record when selecting their next series opener against the All Blacks in four years.

According to Calveley, “He’s put himself in a really good position.”

“You would always take someone’s track record into account, and you can’t beat him, especially when you consider that Andy has two previous Lions tours as part of the coaching ticket [in 2013 and 2017 as an assistant].”

However, we’ll conduct a thorough and robust process and see how it goes.

When Farrell was questioned about the possibility of retaking control in 2029, he said he had a strong affinity for the idea.

Following the series, he declared, “I love everything the Lions is about and I have thoroughly enjoyed the last eight weeks.”

“Four years is a long time between drinks,”

After taking a sabbatical from the post to lead the Lions, the Englishman is expected to return to his post as head coach of Ireland for their autumn Test matches.

Possible tour revamp – Calveley

Calveley claims that there are no plans to leave Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa as traditional tourist destinations.

He acknowledged that the Lions could face foreign competition before the Test series, which would have bolstered the tour matches, which were largely underwhelming in Australia.

At this time, “We are not looking to make any changes] to Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand,” Caveley said.

Through the various stages of the tour, in my opinion, can we establish new relationships with foreign nations.

“We look at it in three ways: the pre-tour piece, the Argentina game in Dublin, the tour matches, and the Test matches themselves,” he said.

In that pre-tour piece, we could continue to play against intriguing new foes.

You might be able to do some of that on tour, so you might want to take a Japan or Fiji for some of those non-Test matches. The Test series is then left alone.

I went to games knowing we would struggle – Amorim

Images courtesy of Getty

Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, claims he was concerned for what would happen to his team when he attended games last year.

Amorim revealed for the first time to reporters who are accompanying United on their pre-season tour of the United States how depressed he is to be presiding over United’s worst season since the 1973-1974 relegation campaign.

United’s Premier League season finished 15th, which is their lowest league position since 1989-1990.

Amorim, who took over as manager in November 2024 after Erik ten Hag was fired, oversaw a run of seven victories from 27 league games, including the storied Europa League final defeat suffered by Tottenham in Bilbao.

After repeatedly losing four games in a row and eventually winning only three of their 11 matches, Amorim said it was the most stressful before the game, and he was asked how he felt when he returned home to see his wife and young family.

To be honest, he said, “I left to go to the games, not how I returned to my house after the games,” because he believed that sometimes we will struggle.

“I felt the pain we had playing games before,” she said. The hardest part was that.

I was very frustrated when I realized we were going to the games and that we weren’t going to be competitive.

JavaScript must be enabled in your browser to play this video.

Amorim covered a wide range of topics in a 25-minute, in-depth interview with the Chicago Fire training facility, including:

Amorim’s refusal to change his tactical approach was consistently criticized during the dark months of the last season.

He said, “Sometimes, when you are losing, you might think we can adjust the standards a little so that they can be with me [the players],” he said.

They saw it, and I didn’t, too. They now know that I will say something when I say it.

The players are not treated like young children by me. However, they now have regulations that can alter how you train.

I always have the upper hand. I have footage to show you if you don’t train the right way. And I present you to everyone.

To uphold standards in the dressing room and deal with the “small things,” Amorim has appointed a leadership group consisting of Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Tom Heaton, Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez, and Noussair Mazraoui.

This is not an easy situation to reach.

Amorim acknowledges that there were instances last season when he questioned whether he had left Portuguese club Sporting, where he had established himself and received his hero accolades, in the middle of the season.

He didn’t go looking for assurances. Keeping his job suffices, in the opinion of Amorim.

Try to remember a small, medium-sized team that lost so many games but the manager carried on with their duties, he said.

Amorim in coping with pressure

Amorim stated last year that he was focused on the team and what was needed to improve rather than putting any pressure on himself.

I didn’t experience the greatest stress in my life at this time. Due to injuries, I had to end my professional sports career very quickly, he said.

“I can remember that my wife and I both had an Excel spreadsheet full of everything I need and want. My family needs my assistance. At that time, I felt pressure.

It’s more of an ego thing now, according to the author. I want to take over as Manchester United’s manager for some time.

It took me five years to choose this club. I’m not interested in failing.

Amorim and Ratcliffe had sarcastic exchanges.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the co-owner of Manchester United, described Amorim as “an outstanding young manager,” in a statement released in March.

We speak on the phone, Amorim said, “He sends me messages, he sends me gifs,” “I’m] joking,” he said.

“Jim’s dealing with him is very simple. You’ll be fine if you have the knowledge to explain any decision.

I am aware that he is the club’s owner, and I am familiar with my place. But I’m very direct when I need to say something.

Amorim’s season squad and goals

On Wednesday, the team will go back to Carrington for training. The main squad’s unintentional quartet of Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrrell Malacia will continue to practice at various times.

Garnacho is a very talented boy. However, “Amorim explained that sometimes things don’t work out.”

You are unable to specifically describe what it is. He clearly has a different leadership and wants something different.

They desire fresh challenges. The market is open. Simply put, I’m collaborating with the players who I believe will stay.

Amorim’s season goal is simple.

“Manchester United is the difference, but I know it’s a big gap from where we finished.” He remarked, “We need to go back to Europe.”

Beyond that, perhaps? Can United reclaim the Premier League and Champions League?

Amorim remarked, “I don’t have any doubts.”

“Pedigree, history, and fans are some things you can’t buy about this club,” he said. Without the Champions League, we wouldn’t have money.

How has the pre-season so far turned out?

Although it is still early, Amorim’s strategy is working.

In a 4-1 win over Bournemouth on Wednesday, United looked effective, energised, and occasionally exciting with a starting lineup that kept nine of the team’s performances so poorly in Bilbao.

Luke Shaw is fit and performing at a level that made him an automatic selection for England, and Patrick Dorgu excelled in the left-handed wing-back role.

Rasmus Hojlund has a clear-cut role in United’s desire to sell him for £30 million, despite his lack of purpose and confidence.

United will return home with a perfect record after three games in the United States if they defeat Everton in Atlanta.

In the boardroom, Amorim has a following. In the Old Trafford stands, he also has it. Fans have been chanting his name all season long, and Amorim has promised to improve it.

He said, “If I say something, it’s because I think it’s true.” The outcomes cannot be controlled by us. However, we will always do those things regardless of how we play, how we perform, how we interact with fans, or any other minor things.

“It was all I had used last year,” I said. We must now carry out.

“We’ll be okay if I have the feeling that we’re going to be competitive before the game,” he said.

JENNIE BOND: ‘Meghan Markle’s found where she fits in with glimpse of life before Harry’

Meghan Marklehas found her niche in the market thanks to her lifestyle brand, media projects, and social media presence, according to royal expert Jennie Bond.

Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle has finally found where she fits in when it comes to her career – and it’s actually doing something she tried her hand at years before meeting Prince Harry, according to an expert.

The Duchess of Sussex’s As Ever lifestyle brand has now taken off with a new vintage of her rosé wine being available to customers next week.

However, there are questions marks about the future of her Netflix deal and the ongoing rift with the Royal Family shows no sign of thawing. It comes after news that Prince Harry will ‘never be forgiven’ by two major royals despite reconciliation hope.

However, for former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, she believes Meghan has finally found herself an unusual, but highly profitable niche.

Jennie thinks Meghan might be planning something significant for her fans or is just enjoying some quality time off from the spotlight, despite the couple’s recent social media presence.

Jennie told the Mirror : “After quite a blitz of Instagram messages and posts, Meghan has been rather quiet lately. That could be because the children are now home from school, or that she is between projects. But she has just put out a promotional message for her next batch of rosé wine, which she says will be available to buy from next week.”

Many of her fans are already anticipating the release of the new As Ever product, which may have led to another record-breaking sell-out of the new wine.

Jennie thinks Meghan has carved out a niche online where she can be supported by her devoted fans and enjoy her success despite the ongoing criticism of some of her projects and social media presence.

Meghan deserves to be happy with the way things have turned out this year, Jennie said. Although her critics dislike her TV and podcast shows, she has a sizable following on social media and has a sizable following of products she endorses or sells, and her TV and podcast shows are watchable without being particularly controversial.

“Meghan has, quite humbly, acknowledged that she is still learning how to navigate the commercial world and admits that she has made mistakes in her business ventures. That is an honest appraisal of her success so far.”

Jennie added that Meghan’s previous experience with running a blog has given her an advantage in terms of online interaction while Meghan is still working on her social media strategy. Meghan ran a blog called The Tig where she would share her favorite recipes, travel tips, and wellness journey while acting in the TV show Suits.

She now has a better chance of tapping back into her previous creative outlet, which is proving to be very successful, by documenting her life online.

Before meeting Harry, Jennie stated, “She was doing extremely well as an influencer with her lifestyle blog. I believe this is the direction she should go in now that she is back on social media. She does a good job, just like many other highly successful influencers, and she does it quite well. She should capitalize on the niche she has discovered and should exploit.
