Love Is Blind UK’s Emma Willis exposes ‘real’ accent after husband Matt’s brutal swipe

Love Is Blind: UK host Emma Willis exposed her ‘real’ accent, after sharing why she’s decided to tone it down over the years

Emma Willis said she’s toned down her accent over the years

Birmingham-born Emma Willis has shared why she has chosen to soften her hometown accent. During a podcast appearance with her husband Matt Willis, the couple discussed her apparent dual accents – one that viewers hear on television, and a more relaxed version she uses at home.

The 48-year-old confessed to purposefully moderating her tone while presenting, after previously disliking the way she sounded.

Appearing as guests on Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo’s Nearly Parents podcast, the conversation kicked off with Sophie claiming that Jamie’s accent has transformed through the years.

Claiming she understood this all too well, Emma explained: “I think when you can hear yourself, you take your pitch down a bit, not [just] you, generally, I do that.

“I start going, ‘I must not be quite so Birmingham’. I bring it [down] a little bit lower, yeah.”

Matt, who shot to stardom with Busted, chimed in to savagely compare his wife’s natural tone to Beaker, the muppet character.

Following his impression of the puppet’s distinctive high-pitched ‘Mee-mee-mee-mee’ noise, he added: “She’s a bit Beaker sometimes.”

When questioned about her current hometown accent, she joked that she no longer knew what it was.

“I don’t know, I’ve tried to bash it out myself,” she responded, chuckling. “No I haven’t.”

She then playfully shrieked in a more casual manner: “Matt!”, before enquiring: “Are you ears okay?”.

“That’s it, welcome to my world, that’s my life,” he quipped back. Showing off her off-duty accent, she continued: “It’s a bit like, ‘You alright, how you doing, you okay?’ Sing song in Birmingham.”

“Sing song in Birmingham?”, Matt queried, to which she responded: “Yeah, well, we [her family] are a bit sing song-y aren’t we?”.

Emma and Matt are back on screens today for the new series of Love is Blind: UK.

A testament to their own love story, the pair have been married since 2008 and share three children.

Reflecting on their journey through the highs and lows over the years, Matt shared of them sticking together: “The thing is, you balls it up on the way [with love]. It’s… are you ready to go through the hard times? To go through it, I think,” he shared.

“Because it’s not easy being with someone for many, many years, but at the end of the day, do you love that person? And do you like them? And do you want to be with them forever?”.

The Hundred women’s competition, Southampton

Northern Superchargers 102 all out (100 balls): Armitage 36 (28); Devine 3-15

Southern Brave 103-2 (83 balls): Wyatt-Hodge 43 (31); Fraser 1-11

Southern Brave won by eight wickets

Unbeaten Southern Brave chased their target of 103 with 17 balls to spare, beating Northern Superchargers by eight wickets and moving top of the table in The Hundred.

Sophie Devine took 3-15 and Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Laura Wolvaardt put on a partnership of 61 as Brave made it three wins from three in 2025.

New Zealander Devine bowled Superchargers top-order batter Phoebe Litchfield for five then returned to dismiss tailenders Lucy Higham and Linsey Smith with consecutive deliveries as the visiting side were bowled out for 102.

Wyatt-Hodge and Wolvaardt made short work of chasing their low target to put their side in control.

England batter Wyatt-Hodge was stumped off the bowling of Katherine Fraser for 43, but South Africa captain Wolvaardt carried on alongside Devine, finishing unbeaten on 33.

Superchargers swiftly found themselves in trouble having chosen to bat in Southampton, slipping to 26-3 shortly after the powerplay.

Annabel Sutherland and captain Hollie Armitage added 26, but when the former was caught by Maia Bouchier off Mady Villiers that started a run of three wickets from 11 balls that left Brave 57-6.

Superchargers captain Armitage carried on in the company of Fraser and Higham, but Devine returned to strike before Armitage was run out from the final delivery of the innings.

Brave lost Maia Bouchier for five, caught by Alice Davidson-Richards off Kate Cross, but the rest of their top-order ensured their chase with largely untroubled.

Boden shoppers have been rushing to grab a half-price pair of trousers that have been slashed from £69 to just under £35. The Cropped Double Cloth Trousers feature a summery blue and white striped design and are crafted from a breathable 100% cotton fabric that’s perfect for warm weather.

The trousers are offered in UK sizes 6-22 and also arrive in a classic white, pink, and blue amongst other shades. Boden customers have been singing the praises of the Cropped Double Cloth Trousers online.

One purchaser said: “I have these trousers in three different colours. The elasticated waist is on the tight side but I don’t find them uncomfortable and I love the look and feel of them. They look smart and don’t crease. I would recommend.”

Another person commented: “Perfect length just above my ankle. The waistband is soft and broad, elasticated for joyous comfort. The colour is a beautiful navy with a brightness that gives a definite blue. Crinkle fabric finish is so summery.”

Alternative trousers with an elasticated waist available to purchase now include New Look’s Black Wide Leg Trousers that arrive in an on-trend satin fabric that will transition well into autumn. They’ve been reduced from £33 to £15.

Another choice is Next’s Wide Leg Jacquard Trousers which are on offer in an autumnal berry red shade or a versatile olive green for £38. They’re available in three different lengths; short, regular and long, reports Yorkshire Live.

Whilst numerous reviewers adore the Boden Cropped Double Cloth Trousers, one noted: “I am about 5 foot 6 and these were full length on me! I bought some last year and they were cropped. Disappointing.”

Others were quite pleased with the fit, with one commenting: “Lovely fit, works for smart and casual. Light and airy. Great waistband that is comfy and doesn’t twist.”

Man Utd In ‘No Man’s Land’ Due To Lack Of Plan, Says Rashford

Marcus Rashford decried Manchester United’s lack of strategy as leaving the English giants in “no man’s land” after joining Barcelona on loan.

The 27-year-old, who played 426 times for United after coming through the club’s academy, left Old Trafford in January for a loan spell at Aston Villa after falling out of favour with new manager Ruben Amorim.

United went on to have their worst season since being relegated in 1973/74 as they finished 15th in the Premier League and failed to qualify for European competition.

Rashford believes the root of United’s problems is in the instability caused by appointing six different managers since Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

“We have been way below where we deem United to be but then if you take a step back, which I’ve been able to do, especially over these last six months, what do you expect?” Rashford told the Rest Is Football podcast.

“When Liverpool went through this, they got (Jurgen) Klopp, they stuck with him. They didn’t win in the beginning. People only remember his final few years when he was competing with (Manchester) City and winning the biggest trophies.

“To start a transition, you have to make a plan and stick to it. It’s not easy to do. But this is where I speak about being realistic with what your situation is.

“We’ve had that many different managers, different ideas and different strategies to win that you end up in no man’s land.”

United have failed to even contend for the Premier League title or the Champions League since Ferguson’s departure.

Rashford is one of the few success stories for the Red Devils in that time.

After breaking into the team as an 18-year-old in 2016, he went on to score 138 goals for the club, winning two FA Cups and two League Cups.

However, he believes the winning culture embedded during Ferguson’s 27-year tenure has been worn away.

“When Ferguson was in charge, not only were there principles for the first team but they were for the whole academy,” Rashford added.

“Any team that has been successful over a period of time, they have principles that mean that any coach or player that comes in has to align to or add to the principles.

“At times, United were hungry to win… but it was reactionary. If your direction is always changing, you can’t expect to win the league.”

Rashford appears to have played his last game for United with his move to Spanish champions Barca containing an option to buy for a reported 35 million euros (£30 million, $41 million).

Inside brutal Made In Chelsea feud as ‘snake’ Jamie Laing leaves ex pals ‘furious’

Jamie Laing has left his former Made In Chelsea friends ‘furious’ after allegedly causing them to be dropped from an upcoming Disney+ series, sparking outrage

Jamie Laing has been accused of ruffling feathers

Jamie Laing is said to have “snaked” his former Made In Chelsea pals, leaving them enraged. The reality star turned podcast host and his wife Sophie Habboo are to star in an upcoming Disney+ series, which will document their “no holds barred” journey to parenthood.

The couple, who are expecting their first child, will see Sophie’s pregnancy and their day-to-day life filmed in a fly-on-the-wall series, as they attempt to move into their new family home. But it’s claimed that the move has left their former pals in a state of rage.

Sources have claimed that an argument has kicked off behind the scenes after a string of former stars from the E4 reality show believed they were all taking part in the series, which now focuses on Jamie and Sophie.

Reports claim that Jamie and Sophie have been “snaking” their pals and have been accused of “hijacking” the lavish deal with the streaming giant, which also airs The Kardashians. It’s said that Louise Thompson and her partner Ryan Libby, Millie Mackintosh and her husband Hugo Taylor, had also been in on the deal – and had already started filming.

Now, it’s claimed that they have been scrapped from the line-up altogether. “They had all been signed to the top secret Disney project, and then Jamie snaked them, is what we’re being told,” a source said. They went on to tell The Sun that all four had signed up and started as Disney had been wanting to build it’s reality TV roster.

“But then Jamie and Habs got pregnant. Disney agreed the focus should be on them alone because their podcast is going great guns, they’ve been given a Radio 1 show, and Jamie’s ultra-marathon efforts endeared him to the nation,” they added. The source went on to say that Louise, Ryan, Millie and Hugo had been left “high and dry”.

The source continued to claim that the four had turned down the chance to appear on the Made In Chelsea spin-off, Beyond Chelsea, so had “lost money.” “They’re absolutely livid and feel they’ve been snaked. There is huge animosity and it is all incredibly awkward – not least because Chelsea isn’t a huge place so they are bound to bump into one another in bars and shops, it’s pretty explosive,” they said.

The claims of another feud come after Jamie addressed his ongoing tension with his once best pal, Spencer Matthews. The pair had once been incredibly close, but in recent years, they have drifted apart, and the reason remains unclear, as dozens of claims have been speculated about.

Spencer was left off the invite list for Jamie and Sophie’s first wedding in the UK two years ago. But it was later claimed that Spencer had acted badly during their second ceremony in Spain. Speaking to You Magazine, Jamie called his fellow TV star “hard to get along with” as he candidly opened up on their friendship. “Look, what can I say? I love Spencer, I really love him so much, and I don’t think he’d mind me saying this… um… look, Spencer’s a hard person to be friends with,” he said.

“We were thick as thieves for a long time, but I think what happens is family and life. From my side, I have no jealousy towards him whatsoever. I only love and adore him more than anything in the entire world. I still consider him one of my closest friends, and I’m godfather to his daughter. But, yeah… I mean… You would have to ask him.”

A representative for Jamie declined to comment. The Mirror has approached a spokesperson for Sophie, Millie and Louise, as well as Disney+ for comment.
