Trent Rockets steadied themselves to secure a four-wicket victory over Southern Brave in the men’s Hundred after batter Adam Hose earlier suffered a serious ankle injury.
Hose was taken to hospital after dislocating his right ankle in the field – an incident that resulted in the match being paused for 10 minutes – during Brave’s 140-4.
A batter down in Hose’s absence, the Rockets then slipped to 60-4 in their chase with Joe Root out for six.
But Tom Moores came in and hit a thrilling 55 from 30 balls while opener Tom Banton made 49 from 38 as they combined in a crucial stand of 76.
Left-hander Moores was playing his first match in this year’s tournament, having been drafted in from outside of Rockets’ squad after injuries to their two wicketkeepers, Banton and Tom Alsop, which prevented them taking the gloves.
With fast hands, Moores targeted the leg side and thrashed five sixes and four fours before being caught at mid-off with five runs needed from 11 balls.
Banton nicked Tymal Mills behind next ball but, on his birthday, Marcus Stoinis powered a six to seal the win with four balls to spare.

The gang caught up over shots following the end of the most recent series of ITV reality dating show Love Island, with the night including lots of dancing and a surprise coupling up
Love Island reunion sees stars down shots on boozy night out with one unexpected couple cosying up(Image: Instagram/_andradapop)
The most recent batch of Love Island stars downed shots and got cosy as they reunited for a wild night out after leaving the villa behind. Swapping Majorca for Shoreditch, most of the cast from the ITV2 series showed up to enjoy a rooftop party at Kaso Rooftop, dancing the night away – with some of them getting very close indeed.
Sharing their night out with fans on TikTok and Instagram, the group showed off their outfits and posted selfies, with some cheeky moments captured. Irish star Andrada Pop was seen necking spirits before getting close to bombshell Remell Mullings.
Casa Amor bombshell Andrada, 27, wore a bright red figure-hugging dress with a plunging neckline. She and Remell, who never actually met on the show, clearly had a spark, with the pair laughing with each other, before posing for a selfie. It comes after one TV star admitted she sleeps in separate bed to partner as she fumes over pregnancy.

Runners-up Harry Cooksley and Shakira Khan were inseparable as they were spotted kissing outside the venue. But their night was tainted when Harry’s car got a flat tire, meaning he was forced to shell out £200 for an Uber home.
Lucy Quinn has clearly moved on from her voice note drama, owning the dance floor in a silver mini skirt and top, while Megan Moore wore a shimmery mesh gown. Her Love Island partner and on-off boyfriend Dejon looked sleek as he wore all black, with the personal trainer brushing off criticism over how he treated his girlfriend on the show.

The 26-year-old has been forced to defend himself after it was revealed a book was set to be released discussing alleged ‘gaslighting and abuse’ by him. Semi-pro footballer Dejon insists he has been the target of “untruths” in the book Surviving Dejon, written by his stepsister Niah Sienna.
Discussing the backlash, Dejon told Capital XTRA: “There’s a lot of untruths and a lot of unfair stories which I am challenging at the moment. The most important thing is that Meg knows who I am, my family know who I am, and my friends know who I am.”

He also expressed gratitude to Andrada Pop and Billykiss Azeez for their recent backing. Dejon explained: “Even shoutout to Andrada and Billykiss because when we saw them when was coming out of the villa they were basically saying, ‘Dejon, there’s so much things being said about you.
“We know that’s not you. We know that’s not who you are as a person’. So yeah shoutout to them two because they didn’t need to do that.”
He also recently took to social media to remind the public that he’s a “human being with real emotions”. He posted on Instagram: “I’ve stayed quiet, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t affected me.
“I hold my self accountable for my communication and everyday I’m growing as a person, so thank you for those who see the good in me. I’m not just a character on an entertainment reality tv show I’m also a human being with real emotions, some of the stuff I’ve seen said about me has been hard to deal with and they are the furthest thing from the truth.”
He added: “I questioned why people would do these things and it was getting me nowhere as I couldn’t understand and is something I would never do to somebody else but what’s kept me grounded is movement.
“Running, training, pushing myself when everything in my head feels heavy. It clears my mind, helps me breathe, reminds me of who I am outside of the noise.
“If you’re struggling mentally, I get it. I really do. You don’t have to have it all figured out just find that one thing that brings you back to yourself and take it one step at a time.”
Nottingham Forest have signed winger Omari Hutchinson for £37.5m from Ipswich Town.
England Under-21 international Hutchinson has agreed a five-year contract at the City Ground.
“I’m really excited to be here and can’t wait to get started. I’ve played at the City Ground a few times and it’s always felt like a hostile atmosphere, so I’m looking forward to playing here with the fans behind us,” the 21-year-old said.
“I’m going to give it my all and I’m looking forward to the challenge as it’s a new chapter for me, but I feel ready.”
Hutchinson’s arrival at Forest comes barely 24 hours after manager Nuno Espirito Santo questioned the club’s activity in the transfer market.
Forest will play in the Europa League this season, with the Portuguese boss suggesting his squad may be ill-equipped to handle the demands that a return to Europe for the first time in 30 years may bring.
However, Forest are also expected to finalise a move for Manchester City midfielder James McAtee after agreeing a fee around the £30m mark.
And the East Midlands club are also in advanced talks for Rennes striker Arnaud Kalimuendo before Sunday’s Premier League opener at home to Brentford, with the three deals worth close to £90m in total.
They have been looking for reinforcements after selling Anthony Elanga to Newcastle for a club-record deal of an initial £55m, and have already signed Dan Ndoye from Bologna.
Hutchinson – who scored in England Under-21’s extra-time final victory against Germany in June at the European Championships after being set up by McAtee – joined Town from Chelsea for £20m last summer after spending 2023-24 on loan at Portman Road, helping Ipswich into the Premier League.
Glentoran made it back-to-back wins to start the Irish Premiership season as they beat Bangor 1-0 at the Oval.
Early pacesetters Carrick Rangers also picked up a second successive victory as they defeated Glenavon 1-0 at Taylors Avenue courtesy of Danny Gibson’s goal.
Portadown got off and running with a thumping 4-1 win against nine-man Dungannon Swifts, who have lost their first two games.

After a slow start, Glentoran came within a whisker of opening the scoring midway through the first half.
Ryan Cooney latched onto Ciaran Coll’s cross-field pass and delivered a low cross into the area but the in-rushing Jordan Jenkins could only fire a shot off the underside of the crossbar from close range.
It took a brilliant save by Gareth Deane to prevent the home side going in front four minutes before the interval as he dived to his right to superbly turn away Jordan Stewart’s powerful header from Daniel Larmour’s cross.
Bangor spurned a glorious chance on 57 minutes after Tiarnan Mulvenna dispossessed defender Shane McEleney and cut the ball back across goal, but Michael Morgan’s effort was saved by the face of Glentoran goalkeeper Andrew Mills.
Carrick edge past Glenavon

Glenavon stopper Jacob Carney was called into action early in the match to gather both Adam Lecky’s header and Danny Gibson’s effort before, at the other end, Davy McDaid sent an effort just wide after connecting with Paddy Burns’ throw-in.
Carrick broke the deadlock in the 37th minute when Paul Heatley’s cross from near the byeline was fired home by Gibson from close range, for his third goal in the opening two games.
Aidan Steele then tried to give the home side a more comfortable lead before the break, but the alert Carney denied his strong free-kick.
After the restart, the away side believed that Stephen Mallon’s set piece was handled in the box. However, referee Evan Boyce waved away their penalty appeals.
As Glenavon pushed for a late equaliser, Jimmy Callacher made a crucial clearance off the line to divert substitute Michael O’Connor’s strike away from goal.
Ports thrash nine-man Swifts

Portadown made the breakthrough after just six minutes. Eamon Fyfe burst from midfield to meet James Teelan’s pass and finished coolly, sliding the ball through Alex Henderson’s legs.
The visitors struck again in the 19th minute. Fyfe’s corner was whipped towards the near post, and Josh Ukek rose highest to glance a clever header beyond the goalkeeper.
Dungannon responded swiftly as Tomas Galvin was clipped by Lee Chapman in the area, and Sean McAllister made no mistake from the spot, drilling low to Aaron McCarey’s left to halve the deficit.
Just when they looked to have a foothold in the game, captain Gael Bigiramana was dismissed late in the first half for a high challenge on Fyfe.
Leo Alves then picked up two yellow cards in quick succession after the restart, both for fouls on Ben Wylie to add to the Swifts’ uphill struggle.
The Ports then found a third in the 76th minute. Ukek powered forward before slipping in Jordan Gibson, who skipped past Cahal McGinty and saw his shot take a deflection off Danny Wallace that looped over Henderson.
Stalemate at Solitude

The points were shared at Solitude as defences dominated in a scoreless draw.
Cliftonville started brightly and Rory Hale flashed a shot from distance narrowly past the far post in the opening minutes.
Former Cliftonville defender Levi Ives forced debutant goalkeeper PJ Morrison into a smart save moments later before Jamie Glackin passed up the best chance of the first half, failing to find the target following fine play by right winger Lewis McGregor.
Rhyss Campbell was forced off with an injury following a tussle with Charles Dunne just before the break and Jim Magilton’s woes were compounded moments after the restart when Luke Conlan was also forced off injured.
The introduction of Eric McWoods injected pace into the Reds’ attack and he presented Ryan Curran with the best chance of the game with 20 minutes remaining, but the striker steered his effort just the wrong side of the upright.
McWoods himself came close to breaking the deadlock in the closing minutes but his spectacular overhead effort lacked power and was comfortably dealt with by visiting goalkeeper Aidan Harris.
Declan McManus headed wide from a Ronan Doherty cross in the final minute of normal time but there was late drama to come.
A pal of Nicola Peltz has silenced speculation that she and Brooklyn Beckham have become distant from their friend Selena Gomez after sources said their bond ‘didn’t exist’

After previously forming a close friendship with them, Selena Gomez was said to have turned her back on pals Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham. However, the Mirror can reveal that this is far from the truth.
Back in 2023, she even joked that the trio were in a “throuple”, but it now appears that’s no longer the case. The singer, 33, was noticeably absent from the couple’s vow renewal last month and it’s now being reported that she’s been left “truly disappointed” by the pair’s “diva” like behaviour.
A source told The Sun: “Last year, she noticed Nicola’s behaviour toward her and [fiancé Benny Blanco] turned into a constant quest for attention.
“There were many tense moments, for example, during dinners and lunches, where Nicola would try to sit where photographers could get the best angle, and she wasn’t very nice to Selena if people weren’t paying enough attention to her.” It comes after David Beckham speaks ‘as a father’ in ‘family’ announcement after latest Brooklyn snub.

The source added: “’I mean, just look at Nicola and Brooklyn’s circle of friends, it’s shrinking every week. Some people have turned their backs on them because they’ve realised how Nicola behaves, and Brooklyn isn’t doing much to change the dynamic.” But a source close to Nicola told the Mirror: “It’s totally false and wrong to bring an innocent bystander into the feud. People have busy schedules, and people are looking for drama where it doesn’t exist.”

Selena spent New Year’s Eve with Brooklyn, 26, and Nicola, 30, back in 2023, with the trio enjoying time together on a yacht in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She took to Instagram to share a series of snaps, with one picture displaying the trio snuggled together as they lay on a net over the water onboard their lavish boat. “Fine calls us a throuple #foreverplusone,” the Good For You singer joked in her caption at the time.
The Naturally singer reportedly also invited the husband and wife to move in with her. An insider told Closer: “Brooklyn and Nicola moved into Selena’s Encino estate a few weeks before Christmas, and the three of them have been playing happy families – joking that Selena is going to be written into the marriage license.
“Brooklyn and Nicola put their home on the market last year and had been living at Nicola’s apartment in LA while they looked for a new house, which has been far from ideal given how cramped it is.”
Nicola’s fans previously questioned why she didn’t wish pal Selena a happy birthday(Image: INSTAGRAM)
The source continued: “When Selena suggested they move into her sprawling home with a huge backyard, they loved the idea and agreed that since they’re still so young, living with a friend would be the perfect way to have the best of both worlds.”
Rumours of a feud first did the rounds last month when Nicola’s fans pointed out the actress hadn’t publicly wished Happy Birthday to actress and singer Selena Gomez. Selena, who has just turned 33, marked her latest birthday on July 22.
One fan commented: “No Selena? I miss your friendship with Selena,” while another expressed: “Wondering that too, as it’s Selena’s birthday and she usually posts for that, wall, stories or on Selena’s wall.” A third wrote: “She’s not even friends with his Mum anymore, so ..@selenagomez ?”
This comes as Brooklyn and Nicola are said to be locked into a feud with the rest of the Beckham family. They failed to attend David’s early 50th birthday celebrations back in April or acknowledge the birthday on social media.
Not only this, but none of the Beckham family were present at their recent vow renewal ceremony, with her father Nelson Peltz stepping in to officiate the ceremony.
Palestinian journalists have long known Gaza to be the most dangerous place on earth for media workers, but Israel’s latest attack on a tent housing journalists in Gaza City has left many reeling from shock and fear.
Four Al Jazeera staff were among seven people killed in an Israeli drone strike outside al-Shifa Hospital on August 10. The Israeli military has admitted to deliberately targeting the tent after making unsubstantiated accusations that one of those killed, Al Jazeera journalist Anas al-Sharif, was a member of Hamas.
Israeli attacks in Gaza have killed at least 238 media workers since October 2023, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office. This toll is higher than that of World Wars I and II, the Vietnam War, the war in Afghanistan and the Yugoslavia wars combined.
Al Jazeera correspondent Hani Mahmoud said, “Press vests and helmets, once considered a shield, now feel like a target.”
“The fear is constant — and justified,” Mahmoud said. “Every assignment is accompanied by the same unspoken question: Will [I] make it back alive?”
The US-based Committee to Protect Journalists has been among several organisations denouncing Israel’s longstanding pattern of accusing journalists of being “terrorists” without credible proof.
“It is no coincidence that the smears against al-Sharif — who has reported night and day for Al Jazeera since the start of the war — surfaced every time he reported on a major development in the war, most recently the starvation brought about by Israel’s refusal to allow sufficient aid into the territory,” CPJ Regional Director Sara Qudah said in the aftermath of Israel’s attack.
In light of Israel’s systematic targeting of journalists, media workers in Gaza are forced to make difficult choices.
“As a mother and a journalist, I go through this mental dissonance almost daily, whether to go to work or stay with my daughters and being afraid of the random shelling of the Israeli occupation army,” Palestinian journalist Sally Thabet told Al Jazeera.
Across the street from the ruins of the School of Media Studies at al-Quds Open University in Gaza City, where he used to teach, Hussein Saad has been recovering from an injury he sustained while running to safety.
“The deliberate targeting of Palestinian journalists has a strong effect on the disappearance of the Palestinian story and the disappearance of the media narrative,” he said. Saad argued the Strip was witnessing “the disappearance of the truth”.
While journalists report on mass killings, human suffering and starvation, they also cope with their own losses and deprivation. Photographer and correspondent Amer al-Sultan said hunger was a major challenge.
“I used to go to work, and when I didn’t find anything to eat, I would just drink water,” he said. “I did this for two days. I had to live for two or three days on water. This is one of the most difficult challenges we face amid this war against our people: starvation.”
Journalist and film director Hassan Abu Dan said reporters “live in conditions that are more difficult than the mind can imagine.”
“You live in a tent. You drink water that is not good for drinking. You eat unhealthy food … We are all, as journalists, confused. There is a part of our lives that has been ruined and gone far away,” he said.
