Eubank-Benn rematch announced for November

In November, Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn will square off in a much-anticipated rematch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In a thrilling middleweight match held there in April, Eubank defeated Benn by unanimous decision.

The bitter rivals’ fight 35 years after their fathers, Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn, first fought, attracted a lot of attention despite the lack of a title.

A rematch was also desired by fans and promoted by promoters after Eubank was declared the winner on all three judges’ scorecards, which was placed at 116-112.

Due to concerns that Eubank wouldn’t be ready, a second fight had been scheduled for September 20.

The rematch will take place on November 15th, according to Ring Magazine, which Turki Alalshikh owns.

Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Boxing’s chairman and promoter, also shared the same day on Instagram.

What data are gathered from this quiz?

From “dead” to “announced,” once more, analysis

Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr.’s rivalry was revealed at the end of June on September 20th.

However, by July 17 Team Benn was concerned that Eubank wasn’t interested in fighting. Eddie Hearn, Benn’s promoter, declared the rematch “dead” three days later.

The fight is now back on for the 15 November deadline, less than a month away.

Turki Alalshikh, who had the initial idea for the September bout completely off guard, was the driving force behind the announcement of a new date.

Eubank has not made any public comments on that announcement as of yet. Perhaps the fact that he didn’t want that date or wanted to revisit the terms of the initial fight, which included a fight-day rehydration clause, helped him in June.

Their initial confrontation was similar to a bottle-in-a-bottle lightning strike. A carefully planned event that didn’t actually have any business going on. Additionally, it was entertaining to watch.

Can organizers reclaim the same power? We are aware that Eubank can provide the weight. Chris Eubank Jr.’s incredible arrival on fight night was in the WWE style. For a comfortable points win, we watched a weight-drained Eubank fend off the smaller Benn.

Meet post-grad medic who stunned Muir at UK Champs

JavaScript must be enabled in your browser to play this video.

There’s a good chance you hadn’t heard the name Sarah Calvert before the weekend.

The 24-year-old post-graduate student has a slim chance of disappearing now, though. Everything has been altered by her spectacular entry into the British middle-distance scene.

The Livingston native herself won the 1500-meter title after beating Laura Muir, who won it at the Olympics, in Birmingham. She now holds the title of Scotland’s new champion.

Calvert remarked, “It feels incredible.” I didn’t anticipate this ever happening, especially given how busy I was studying for exams in May, which made things a little stressful.

I knew it was crazy as soon as I crossed the line. I was aware that this was my life’s pivotal moment. I had my first anti-doping test afterward, which was another positive experience.

“I’ve received so many messages since then from my parents’ friends, all my friends, and from people from school.” It gives the impression that everything is very special.

Calvert is now pursuing fast races in Europe to compete in the British team for the upcoming World Championships.

Due to her newly discovered fame, both her family and her social standing have fallen for her.

When she takes a break from her studies at Edinburgh University, she told BBC Scotland at Edinburgh’s Meadowbank stadium, one of her regular training venues, that her father texted to say that she had a Wikipedia page.

It’s just a little crazy, I guess. I didn’t really anticipate it to explode in this manner.

That kind of accomplishment will be reflected in your profile if you win one of the top UK events.

She is now working with an agent who wants to see if she can break her personal best by six seconds and join the GB team for Tokyo at the World Championships.

And Calvert still has her life grounded in reality despite the chaos at the moment, even though she is prepared to give it her best shot. She has tried to balance excelling at both being a doctor and an athlete.

She admitted to attending the World Championships, “I would have said I had no chance” before the weekend. “I need to run a big personal best, so it still seems a little off.” I believe I must make the effort.

When I’m at university, “I definitely feel busy, day to day.” training in the morning, cycling to the hospital for my internship, and then once more training in the evening. But both of them are enjoyable.

I frequently worry that my running for medicine will lead to the other choice, but I believe I must accept that I both want to be doctors at some point in my life.

Dreams of Glasgow

Given that the top 1500m runners in the country struggled to contain their late surge in Birmingham, including her idol Muir, who also managed to balance her vet studies with a wildly successful athletics career.

Being a British champion and having already won a silver medal at the most recent World University Games opens up new opportunities for Calvert. Sponsors are contacting them about endorsements, which will increase her visibility and marketability even further if she qualifies for the World Championships.

If Tokyo is too far, she will have a significant event on home soil in the summer of 2026.

She has already qualified for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games’ 800-meter qualifying race. She now wants to run 1500 meters to increase her chances.

The 24-year-old admitted that she has always had big dreams of competing in major championships, but she’s not sure if she ever truly believed they were possible.

I now think this might be possible if I continue to train consistently. These goals might be something I could try to accomplish next year, so I feel inspired to write them down.

“All of my family and friends could come and watch me,” said I, “because the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow would be fantastic.” I don’t want to miss out on it, in my opinion.

It would mean a lot to me, I thought. I can’t stop giggling to watch Lynsey Sharp compete in the 800m when she won the gold medal at Glasgow 2014, which is exactly how I remember it. This was my first experience with what it could be like and what I could accomplish as an adult at Livingston Athletics Club.

US envoy Witkoff in Russia as Trump’s Ukraine ceasefire deadline looms

Days before the White House’s deadline for Russia to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine or face economic sanctions, special envoy Steve Witkoff from the United States has arrived in Moscow.

If Moscow doesn’t agree to a ceasefire before Friday, President Donald Trump has warned that he will impose sanctions on Russia.

Trump has previously threatened to impose “secondary tariffs” against Russia’s trade partners, including China and India, but the White House has not yet provided specifics on how it will proceed.

Russian state news agency TASS reported that Witkoff was met by Russian President Kirill Dmitriev on Wednesday when he arrived in Moscow.

Dmitriev had been key players in recent months’ direct peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul as well as US and Russian discussions.

Witkoff’s visit was welcomed on Monday by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. We believe Witkoff’s conversations are significant, significant, and very useful, he said.

Witkoff and President Vladimir Putin will meet at the Kremlin, according to the Kremlin.

Trump responded to reporters’ questions on Monday regarding Witkoff’s response to Moscow and whether Russia could use it to evade sanctions: “Yeah, get a deal where people stop getting killed.”

Real estate billionaire Witkoff has arranged numerous lengthy encounters with Putin. Before joining Trump’s team in January, he had no prior diplomatic experience, and critics have called him too overboard for such responsibilities.

Three previous peace negotiations in Istanbul attempted to elicit a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine failed.

Putin, who has consistently rejected calls for a ceasefire, stated on Friday that he wants peace, but that his demands remain the same for the nearly three-and-a-half-year offensive. Ukraine has asked Russia to renounce Western support, including its request to join NATO, and demand that it cede more territory.

Damson Madder’s flattering midi dress gets me so many compliments and is now 50% off

The leopard print midi dress by Samantha Madder is so flattering that I was able to locate it after seeing it on a street vendor. It is now 50% off.

Welcome to the club if you’ve ever seen an outfit “in the wild” and thought, “I have that,” I immediately had to track down Damson Madder’s leopard print Persephone Midi Dress when I saw someone wearing it on the street in London. I was so taken by how flattering and effortlessly cool it was.

Imagine my relief when I learned that it was still in stock and that it also had a significant 50% discount, reducing the cost from £95 to £48. I’ve never been so pleased with a purchase, and it immediately went into my basket.

My studded clogs cost less than Birkenstock’s and are the ideal summer-to-autumn pair.

I wore the Persephone Midi Dress the very next day for dinner and drinks with a friend, and I can’t remember the last time a dress got me so many compliments. From strangers to friends to people on Instagram, everyone raved about how flattering, unusual and fun the dress was, with its drop waist and bow details.

It has a shirred back that allows for some movement while still maintaining its fitted silhouette, a square neckline, and thin spaghetti straps that are fully adjustable. Although I’m petite at 5’4″ and a curvy size 14, I was pleasantly surprised by how much taller and proportionate it made me look, even though I wasn’t sure if the drop waist would fit my body type.

I went up from my regular size and am glad I did because it kept the Persephone Midi Dress form-fitting but didn’t feel overly tight and restrictive. I felt a size up would have hung a little nicer and didn’t highlight any lumps or bumps because the fabric has little stretch aside from the shirring and is made of a fairly structured material.

The leopard print version of the Damson Madder dress is currently out of stock, and the size 8 is available in six to twenty. If animal print isn’t your thing, you can get it in a black and white gingham check with contrast-colored bows on the hips and a £38 discount.

The Persephone Midi Dress was the most wearable option for both the day and the evening, which I adored. A simple swap to some kitten heels and a clutch would add some drama for evenings out, while a pair of ballet flats, sandals, or even trainers would make it casual enough for brunch, picnics in the park, or even sightseeing on vacation.

Japan’s Hiroshima marks 80 years since US atomic bombing

As survivors, officials, and representatives from 120 nations and territories marked the milestone with renewed calls for disarmament, thousands of people gathered in Hiroshima to pay homage to the 80th anniversary of the first nuclear bomb used in a wartime.

The United States dropped a uranium bomb known as Little Boy on August 6, 1945, flattening the western Japanese city. Almost 78 000 people died instantly, roughly. By the end of the year, tens of thousands more would be killed as a result of burns and radiation exposure.

Japan’s surrender on August 15 and the end of the second world war were the result of the Hiroshima attack, followed three days later by a plutonium bomb dropped on Nagasaki. Hiroshima was chosen as a target partly because US planners believed the bomb’s force would be boosted by its proximity to mountains.

Delegates from a record number of international nations and regions attended the annual memorial at Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park on Wednesday, where the bomb detonated almost directly overhead eight decades ago.

According to Al Jazeera’s Fadi Salameh, who was reporting from the park, the ceremony took place in a similar manner to those of earlier years.

Salameh said, “The ceremony process has essentially stayed the same throughout the years I’ve covered it. “It begins at eight o’clock with the children and people offering flowers and then water to honor the victims who had survived the atomic bombing that year.”

A moment of silence followed, “Exactly at 8:15.” The Hiroshima mayor reads out the declaration of peace, which calls for the end of nuclear weapons in all over the world, he continued.

The “Prophet of Peace” readings of hope and remembrance were read by schoolchildren from all over Japan. A message from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ representative urging world peace was also included at this year’s ceremony.

Kazumi Matsui, the mayor of Hiroshima, criticized world leaders who claim that their use of nuclear weapons is necessary for national security. He also compared the dangers of rising global militarism.

There is a growing consensus among world political leaders that having nuclear weapons is necessary to protect their own countries, he said, noting that the United States and Russia still have 90% of the world’s nuclear weapons.

He said that this situation “severely undermines the frameworks that have been built for peace-building” and “no longer” the international community has learned from the tragic history of the past.

To all world leaders, please go to Hiroshima and experience the atomic bombing’s reality.

That call was echoed by many attendees. Yoshikazu Horie, 71, told the Reuters news agency, “It seems as though history is repeating itself.” Terribable things are happening in Europe. It’s very frightful. Even Japan and Asia are doing the same. I want peace so that my grandchildren can have a happy ending to their lives.

Hibakusha, or survivors of the bombings, once faced discrimination because of unfounded fears of disease and genetic effects. For the first time this year, their numbers have fallen below 100,000.

Francis Ford Coppola shares update after health issue hospitalised Godfather director

Iconic Hollywood director Francis Ford Coppola has issued an update on his health after being hospitalised in Italy following an appearance at a film festival

Francis Ford Coppola has issued a health update after concerning reports he had been hospitalised in Italy. It was suggested in local media that the iconic director of the Godfather film, 86, had been rushed to hospital unexpectedly in the Italian city on August 5.

The apparent scare came as he was in the country for the Magna Grecia Festival in Calabria to present his controversial movie, Megalopolis, which stars Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, and Giancarlo Esposito.

However, he took to social media to clear up the situation and insisted he is “well”. Taking to Instagram, the five-time Oscar winner clarified: “Da Dada (what my kids call me) is fine, taking an opportunity while in Rome to do the update of my 30 year old afib procedure with its inventor, a great Italian doctor – Dr. Andrea Natale! I am well!”

He shared the update alongside an image of himself grinning. And his followers were thrilled with his announcement.

Among those sharing their delight was actress Sharon Stone. She wrote: “We love you honey,” along with an emoji with love heart eyes.

Another user penned: “I’m glad you’re doing ok. It’s bad enough we lost David Lynch this year. We can’t afford to lose another brilliant filmmaker in the same year.” They added emojis of praying hands and a bandaged heart on their comment.

The update comes after the director recently addressed a crowd at the film festival in Italy. He spent a lot of the summer in Italy scouting locations for his new film, which is said to start filming this autumn, as reported by ANSA.

He told the crowd: “Young people tell me the world is a mess, but I tell them there’s no problem that humanity can’t solve. We must build a great new future, and do it together for the sake of our children. And tonight, we’re taking a leap into the future.”

The legendary director has long had close ties to the country thanks to his grandfather, Agostino, who emigrated from Bernalda in the early 1900s. In 1989, Francis became an honorary citizen of the town.

Francis’ huge film Megalopolis released earlier this year to mixed reviews. The decades-in-the-making project stars Adam Driver as a rich and tortured visionary trying to build a utopian city while rowing with a conservative mayor. It’s said the film cost a huge $120million but only grossed just over $14million across the globe.

However, the figures didn’t appear to bother the icon. He said: “I lost my wife a year ago, around this time. But my attitude for death is that I always lived my life so that when I was at the moment approaching death, I wouldn’t say, ‘Oh, I wish I had done this and I wish I had done that.’ Instead, I say to myself, ‘I got to do this.’”

“I got to see my daughter win an Oscar. I got to see my father win an Oscar. I’m going to be so busy saying all the things I got to do that when I die, I’m not going to notice it. When I die, I’m not going to notice it. You know how your electric toothbrush just shuts off when you least expect it? That’s what death is like.”

As well as his work on The Godfather, Francis is also known for The Cotton Club, Peggy Sue Got Married, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, The Outsiders and The Rainmaker.
