Aimee Maguire, an Ireland spinner, has received a bang for her part in international cricket.
The 18-year-old was suspended in February after the sport’s officials declared her bowling practice against India in Rajkot on January 10 to be against the law.
On January 21, Maguire received a bowling assessment at Loughborough, England’s ICC-accredited testing facility.
The ICC imposed a suspension after the bowling assessment determined that “her bowling action exceeds the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted.”
Following remedial work and re-assessment, the ICC determined on Tuesday that Maguire’s bowling action was “found to be legal,” allowing her to resume her international career.
According to the report, “An independent evaluation of Maguire’s remodelled bowling action at an ICC-accredited testing center determined that the elbow extension was within the 15-degree range.”
The teen, who took 25 wickets across formats for Ireland, made her 2023 international debut.
Gaby Lewis, Ireland captain, stated that she has “no doubt” that Maguire will “pick up where she left off” when she rejoins the squad.
She and management have worked so hard over the past seven or eight months to improve her behavior and mental health, Lewis said.
She worked so hard, is in a great position, and just needs some games to get her under control, she said. “It was a big hit, but it knocked her confidence.

Near my central Gaza neighborhood of az-Zawayda last week, aid was dropping from the sky. Because we all knew that a battle would break out when it hit the ground, neither I nor any of my neighbors had the courage to pursue it. The looters wouldn’t be able to get the aid if it flew in the air.
The scene almost always stays the same. When the plane drops the boxes, a gunfire starts to spread. Armed gangs are already armed and prepared to use force to seize control of the area. Who shoots first, who gets there first, also leaves with the food. Those never ever need it the most need it.
In Deir el-Balah’s market in the future, we would find those same “aid boxes” with exorbitant prices on their contents.
My younger brother recently requested a biscuit. I inquired about the cost after purchasing biscuits from an aid package at the market. We could not afford a biscuit, which cost 20 shekels ($5).
The food that is dropped from the sky kills the hungry people as well. Uday al-Quraan, a doctor employed by Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, was killed on Monday when an airdropped pallet hit a tent for the displaced. 11 people were hurt a week ago when another airdrop pallet struck tents in northern Gaza.
In other failed airdrops last year, there were also fatalities. When a group of people rushed to an airdrop location in Gaza City, five people died when their pallet parachute failed to open, and twelve drowned trying to reach boxes that fell into the sea.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on the entire world to support the process, which led to the concept behind these most recent airdrops. Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and other European nations are just a few examples of countries that have embraced the idea.
Netanyahu is well aware that the airdrops won’t stop Palestinian hunger, so he requested them rather than allowing UN agencies to distribute aid fairly and orderly, as they have always done.
Although the general public may be misled into believing that something is being done to combat the hunger in Gaza, these airdrops aren’t seen as a genuine solution or a humanitarian gesture. We view them as nothing more than a PR stunt, a means of stifling a crime that hasn’t yet stopped: putting an entire population under siege by preventing thousands of trucks from entering while a few boxes pluck from the sky for the cameras. It all serves as part of a plan to exacerbate the situation and lower Israel’s international pressure.
And so the famine spreads quickly. More than 180 people have died from hunger, including 92 children, according to the Gaza-based Ministry of Health.
Airdrops are perceived as dangerous and ineffective not just in Gaza. Airdropped aid was packaged in the same way as cluster bombs in Afghanistan in 2001. Children who ran after them would mistakenly think they were food boxes. Aid dropped into a besieged area in Syria failed to reach the starving civilians because the area had been either damaged or fell into ISIL’s (ISIS)-held territory.
Airdrops are well known for failing to work, and there is no justification for using them when there are other options. This method is ineffective, according to the UN, and ground delivery is much safer and much better. Four to ten times as much medical supplies can be carried by a truck. Additionally, it is much less expensive. On the Egyptian side of the border, thousands of trucks are waiting to provide food to those who have already been starved.
Yet, Gaza is once more the site of this pointless spectacle. Here, we are aware of the importance of not pity the sky. Food can’t be dropped in the same sky as bombs.
This “humanity with parachutes” is a fig leaf used to try to hide the world’s shame and its choice to passively observe starvation.
Gaza is under the control of bombs, as well as by lies, complicity, soft language, and bloody massacres. A partner in this crime is everyone who keeps silent, justifies, and treats the killer and victim equally.
And Palestinians are witnesses as well, not just victims. We observe countries continuing to arm Israel, trade with it, and provide it with diplomatic cover as the world continues to refuse to act. We see governments use pitiful justifications to avoid imposing embargoes on a country that commits genocide, as required by international law.
And tomorrow, when history is written, it won’t use euphemisms and excuses as a diplomatic language. The names of those responsible for the massacre and starvation of Palestinians will be written in plain letters in the language of facts.
In its most recent situation report, the country reported 811 confirmed Lassa fever cases and 152 fatalities this year, according to the Nigerian Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC).
Ondo, Edo, and Benue States reported 11 new confirmed cases in the Lassa Fever Situation Report for Week 28 (7th–13 July, 2025), which was released on Monday.
Lassa fever is related to 811 confirmed cases and 152 deaths, according to the NCDC. The Case Fatality Rate (CFR) is 18.7%, which is higher than the 17.3% that were reported in the same time in 202.9% of cases that have been confirmed are from Ondo, Bauchi, Edo, Taraba, and Ebonyi.
Additionally, the report further revealed that 105 local government areas and 21 states each had at least one confirmed case in total for 2025.
Additionally, same number of new confirmed cases were present as in 2025’s epi week 27.
In high-burden states, the NCDC organized a Lassa fever Environmental Response Campaign. However, it lamented that the rate of fatalities had increased as a result of late diagnosis.
Additionally, high-burden communities reported poor health-seeking behavior as a result of the high cost of Lassa fever treatment and clinical management, poor environmental sanitation practices, and poor awareness of the condition.
Therefore, the NCDC urged the general public to report suspected cases of people who had diarrhoea, myalgia, chest pain, sore throat, cough, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, myalgia, chest pain, and hearing loss.
Lassa fever is an acute viral condition brought on by the Lassa virus, according to the World Health Organization.
It is endemic in Benin, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and other West African nations, and is thought to be the same thing.
On Coronation Street, Catherine Tyldesley will reprise her role as blonde bombshell Eva Price, and she has returned to her character’s signature color just in time for the filming.

Catherine Tyldesley has dyed her hair in time for her return to Coronation Street. The actress, 41, is set to be make a major comeback onto the ITV soap as she returns to her signature role of Eva Price, seven years on from her initial exit.
During her initial stint on the cobbles, Eva sported platinum blonde locks but after she quit the soap, Catherine quickly went back to her natural brunette colour as she competed on Strictly Come Dancing. She kept the darker look as she took on roles in shows such as Scarborough and Viewpoint but an Instagram post on Tuesday revealed that she is a blonde once again.
The actress shared two snaps of herself posing with friends as she headed out for dinner, in Manchester and The Sun reports that the outing comes just days before she is supposed to making a return to the set at MediaCityUK to begin filming. Catherine, who was a brunette when she took on her first big role in the BBC drama Lilies prior to joining Coronation Street, previously explained that bosses just felt that it was right that barmaid Eva would have blonde hair. It comes after reports of all the celebrities rumoured to be joining BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2025.

In 2019, she explained during an interview on Lorraine: “When I first started Corrie I’d done a sketch show and was blonde. They felt Eva was blonde and so did I. I keep walking past windows and mirror and think ‘Oh!’ and forget I’ve done it. A lady came up to me and said I think you should be blonde.”
Reports surrounding the return of Leanne Battersby’s sister emerged earlier this year, but then nothing was announced. Fresh reports just last week claimed the planned plot was now approaching.
It’s thought that the move has come about after EastEnders bosses revealed that Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) will be taking the reins of the Queen Victoria pub. Aaron McCusker, who starred as Freddie Mercury’s boyfriend in the film Bohemian Rhapsody, is reportedly set to arrive alongside her as her new husband.
A source told The Sun: “Corrie bosses were never going to take EastEnders shrewd decision to reinstate Kat and Alfie at the Vic lying down. So they took their time looking for the perfect actor to play her husband to Eva as she makes her return to Corrie as the new boss of the Rovers.”

The insider added that Corrie’s management was aware of the ‘perfect’ actor when the Irish-born actor entered the room. The locals will be in for a shock if they believe they can exploit Aaron’s good nature and cheeky Irish charm, according to the addition of his character.
“It’s the start of an exciting new chapter in the pub’s history.” Aaron is also known for his role as Jamie Maguire in Shameless, whilst Catherine has starred in The Good Ship Murder and earlier this year appeared opposite Siobhan Finneran in an episode of the ITV drama Protection.
She was also set to star in a cancelled touring production of Bonnie and Clyde: The Musical last year and went viral over a social media scandal known as Cakegate in late 2023. The actress first appeared on Coronation Street in 2011 as the daughter of Stella Price (Michelle Collins), who had arrived to take over the pub herself and also reveal herself as the long-lost mother of Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).
Catherine’s alter-ego was portrayed in numerous relationships with actors like Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas), Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis), and Nick Tilsey (Ben Price) over the course of seven years. Her most notable relationship was with Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward), but things started to get ugly when he started dating Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon).
She took revenge by affixing a bright pink Range Rover to Aidan’s credit card before pretending to be pregnant, instead of confronting him head-on about his infidelity. At the wedding, Maria found out about Eva’s lies and exposed them all, but Eva later learned that she was pregnant with Aidan’s child.
She had planned to give Susie away to Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) in order to go through with the birth in secret. She had gone off to a far-off cottage. However, later on, Aidan committed suicide, and Eva eventually decided to end her relationship with her while waiting in a taxi.
If Eva does come back and take over the Rovers, she will follow in the footsteps of former characters like Annie Walker (Doris Speed), Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear), and Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard), all of whom have helmed the country’s most well-known pub throughout the course of the show’s history. Jenny Connor, who has been confirmed to be leaving the ITV soap, is one of these landladies.

Gaza is now facing its fiercest fight: absolute hunger.
There’s no food to buy even if you could afford it, people there have told Al Jazeera.
The widespread hunger has been imposed by the Israeli military as it restricted the entry of aid for months and enforced a food distribution system where people get shot almost daily.
“It’s one of the most … barbaric ways to kill,” Dr James Smith, an emergency doctor who has volunteered twice in Gaza, told Al Jazeera. “Starvation is always something that is done by one person to another. It’s intended to be protracted and to maximise suffering.”
On July 29, the United Nations-backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) issued its gravest warning yet: that “worst-case scenario of famine is currently playing out in the Gaza Strip”.
Mounting evidence shows a rise in hunger-related deaths. Famine thresholds for food consumption have been reached in most of Gaza, and for acute malnutrition in Gaza City.
According to the Health Ministry in Gaza, so far, at least 180 people have died of starvation, half of them children, underscoring the devastating toll of hunger on Gaza’s young.
According to the IPC, more than 20,000 children have been admitted for treatment for acute malnutrition between April and mid-July – more than 3,000 of them severely affected.
(Al Jazeera)
As it begins to starve after being deprived of food for days, the body begins to break down its own muscle and other tissues.
Metabolism slows, kidney function is impaired and the immune system falters, reducing the body’s ability to heal.
Essential organs like the heart and lungs become less effective. Muscles shrink, and people feel weak. Eventually, its protein stores ravaged, the body breaks down its tissues as death nears.
The aid allowed into Gaza
Despite the suffering, Israel allowed just 36 aid trucks into Gaza on Saturday, even as 22,000 loaded trucks remain at the crossings, waiting to enter, according to the Government Media Office in Gaza.
Before October 2023, around 500 aid trucks entered Gaza daily – a number that not been reached since.
In March, Israel completely blocked all exits and aid, only opening up for a tiny fraction of the needed aid in the past two months.
Once food is offloaded at the border holding areas, agencies must request permission for convoys to enter and distribute in Gaza.
But approvals are inconsistent. According to the UN’s World Food Programme (WFP), only 76 out of 138 convoy requests were approved between July 19 and 25.
After approval, convoys often idle for hours, waiting up to 46 hours for final clearance to move, during which time hungry civilians gather along expected routes, hoping to intercept food.
Once on the road, the journey is slow and dangerous – it can take up to 12 hours to complete a delivery due to checkpoints, security threats, and rerouting.
Convoys and civilians alike face Israeli sniper fire, drone surveillance, and bombing. Only 60 drivers are approved to operate inside Gaza – far too few to meet the need.
Trucks are attacked by people who are desperate for aid, creating a complicated and often violent situation for the drivers and aid seekers.
(Al Jazeera)
On May 27, the Israeli- and US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) started working, with the plan being that it would replace all UN operations in Gaza.
However, it replaced a network of some 400 distribution points operated by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), with four “mega-sites” in heavily militarised zones just next to open combat zones.
Civilians who walk long distances, spend nights in the open, and run a gauntlet of random shooting, find themselves fighting for scraps of food, if they’re lucky.
(Al Jazeera)
Vulnerable groups – children, the elderly, the injured, and pregnant women – are also forced to make the treacherous GHF journey.
A former GHF guard, US veteran Anthony Aguilar, has told Al Jazeera how a little boy who he gave aid to was caught as “pepper spray, tear gas, stun grenades and bullets” were shot at the feet of the crowd of aid seekers, killing the boy.
Israeli soldiers have reportedly opened fire on Palestinians gathering at GHF sites on a near-daily basis.
As of August 5, at least 1,487 people have been killed and 10,578 injured trying to collect aid from the GHF.
Israel insists that the GHF is needed to prevent Hamas from stealing aid entering Gaza.
However, internal analysis by the US Agency for International Development found no evidence of widespread aid diversion by Hamas.
Israeli military officials similarly told The New York Times last week that they had no evidence that Hamas was systemically stealing aid.

Airdrops
Since the announcement of tactical pauses, countries like France, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates have tried airdropping aid into Gaza. Much of it falls into unsafe or inaccessible areas and, in some tragic cases, people have been injured or killed trying to retrieve it.
In some cases, the aid falls into the sea and becomes damaged by the saltwater. In addition, several videos posted by people in Gaza show airdropped aid that has been contaminated by mould.
UN agencies say airdrops are dangerous as well as insufficient and that Israel must allow far more aid in overland and allow access to Gaza to prevent its 2.2 million people from starving.
Palestinians killed and starved for over 660 days
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has killed nearly 61,000 people, including at least 18,430 children, in its war on Gaza.
In February 2025, The Lancet medical journal estimated the death toll in Gaza from October 2023 to June 2024 was 40 percent higher than figures provided by the Palestinian Health Ministry, citing the fact that many people die outside hospitals and are never registered.
