Jessie J to undergo more surgery after cancer diagnosis as she rearranges tour

After being diagnosed with cancer, Jessie J has revealed that she needs additional surgery. The pop star revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with early breast cancer and had to have surgery after discovering a 4 to 5 cm lump. while she recovered, and was halting her career.

She claimed in a previous interview that her young son’s cruel illness had “robbed her of memories.” According to Jessica, “I found a lump, went to get checked, and they said the lump could be seen and felt, but the ultrasound showed that the lump looked fine,” so because I had young breast tissue, it appeared to be healthy.”

Her symptoms included a heavy arm and pins and needles. One day after her birthday, her biopsy appointment revealed high-grade cancer cells, which caused her to cry. Instead of receiving radiotherapy and chemotherapy, she later had her affected breast mastectomy removed.

The singer was earlier this year diagnosed with breast cancer (Jessie J/Instagram).

Jessie has now confirmed that she needs to have a second operation despite having nothing to worry about. The singer stated in a statement that, sadly, I must undergo a second procedure, which is not too serious, but must be completed by the end of this year. This is at the very end of the tour I had planned. I’m so sorry, but I’m frustrated and depressed. I need to be better and more whole.

The tour dates for Jessie were originally scheduled to begin in October, but they have since been changed. The new dates for her upcoming tour were confirmed by a representative.

Jessie’s disclosure of her second surgery comes after she revealed how her diagnosis had impacted both her relationship with those around her and both personally. The hitmaker said, “Yesterday I sobbed,” during a guest appearance on Jamie Laing’s podcast Great Company. I miss my son and I feel like I can’t be his mother.

I’m concerned that my cancer will erase my boy’s memories. The emotional impact of the experience was “overwhelming,” he said. I once pondered, “This is going to go left and I’m going to die.”

She recalled the moment the doctors gave the news, saying, “I just burst into tears.” I wasn’t too concerned because the doctors had determined that it was probably just a cyst. She continued to concentrate on her music despite the fear. She recalled her final pre-surgery performance at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball with Barclaycard and said, “I don’t think I processed things properly because I was so busy with work after the diagnosis.” When I was put to sleep, I replayed that euphoria and energy in my head.

She remained a victim of the fans’ support that day. I would like for everyone who has ever had a terrifying diagnosis to go through my experience. The entire crowd erupted, like a giant hug. “Jessie was overcome with emotion when she saw her partner, Chanan Safir Colman,” said Jessie after having surgery. She exclaimed, “I was so happy to be alive,” and she shed tears.

She later explained how her mother helped her through the recovery process, saying, “My mother was massaging my boob for me because I can’t touch the scars.” I began crying as I cried “I can’t believe this has happened.” She said, “I wish it was me,” and now she is crying.

Norris ‘ready to go’ for ‘tricky’ part of season

Grand Prix of the Netherlands

Dates: 29-31-Aug, 2018 Start time: 14:00 BST on Sunday

As Formula 1 resumes after its summer break, Lando Norris claims he is “ready to go” for what he anticipates will be “a long, tricky, challenging second part of the season.”

The Briton trails his McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri by nine points heading into this weekend’s Grand Prix of the Netherlands with no other driver realistically in the fight.

Norris has won three of his previous four races, occasionally relying on his luck, but he refuted the notion that he had momentum in the championship.

He said, “The deeper meaning of momentum is that it gives you more knowledge, knowledge, and mental clarity.

“I don’t want to have a third good race just because I have two good ones,” the saying goes.

Briton Norris acknowledged that his championship chances had been impacted by his various errors throughout the season.

He ran into the backs of his team-mate in Canada after making an error while braking for the hairpin that caused him to take pole in the China sprint race, which Piastri won and Norris placed eighth.

Could I have made some of the wisest choices, Norris said? That’s what I believe.

“I wouldn’t say I regret it,” she said. But I’m glad I could do it again and make improvements, yes. But I don’t regret making those choices at the time. Life is like that.

You learn the most from situations where it sometimes goes your way and you get lucky, and other times when it turns out the other way and you make poor decisions.

Norris acknowledged that his deficit may not have been greater because of other factors.

This makes reference to Piastri’s defeats at Silverstone and Hungary. The Australian was criticized for braking behind the safety car in Silverstone, but Norris was able to recover from a bad start by switching to a one-stop approach in the middle of the race, which even he at the time didn’t believe would win.

I have certainly had some luck, said Norris. Additionally, I had bad luck. That’s life, though. Those things are impossible for me to change.

“I’ve had a car that I found much more challenging to drive this year, but I’ve made some good moves forward and improved,” said one participant. “I would not have won in Budapest if I hadn’t improved.”

If Piastri had won the championship in Silverstone and Budapest rather than Norris, he would have been 37 points ahead.

But he continued, “I don’t feel badly done.”

There will always be issues with racing that you may not agree with or that don’t go your way, which is just a part of it. You may be wondering where you can always just keep moving forward.

This year, we’ve done a lot of things well that we can control. Although there have been some difficult lessons and moments, I have a lot of confidence in my current situation.

This year, I think I’ve driven well. All that aside, there is an alternate universe where many things appear very differently.

Israel steps up bombardment of Gaza City, killing at least 50 people

At least 50 people have been killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza since dawn on Thursday, including 12 aid seekers, medical sources told Al Jazeera, as residents report intensified military bombardment of the eastern and southern neighbourhoods of Gaza City.

The Israeli military has been preparing to take Gaza City, the enclave’s largest urban centre, despite international calls to reconsider the move over fears that the operation would cause significant casualties and displace the roughly one million Palestinians sheltering there.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was among those criticising the campaign, saying on Thursday that it “signals a new and dangerous phase” in the war.

“Expanded military operations in Gaza City will have devastating consequences. Hundreds of thousands of civilians, already exhausted and traumatised, would be forced to flee yet again, pushing families into even deeper peril,” he said.

“This must stop,” he said.

In Gaza City, residents said families were fleeing their homes and most were heading towards the coast as Israeli forces bombarded the Shujayea, Zeitoun and Sabra neighbourhoods.

No buildings remain standing in the southern part of Zeitoun as the Israeli ground operation has demolished more than 1,500 homes, according to Gaza’s Civil Defence agency.

Israeli officials have described Gaza City as the last stronghold of Hamas.

‘Enforced disappearances’

The Israeli military said in a statement that it was continuing to operate throughout Gaza to target fighters and their infrastructure.

The military said on Thursday that it had killed three fighters in the past day without saying how it had identified the individuals.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that those killed across Gaza on Thursday included a woman and her child sheltering in a tent camp for displaced people in Khan Younis.

Meanwhile, UN rights experts voiced alarm at reports of “enforced disappearances” of starving Palestinians seeking food at distribution sites run by the US- and Israeli-backed GHF, urging Israel to end the “heinous crime”.

The seven independent experts said in a joint statement they had received reports that a number of individuals, including one child, had been “forcibly disappeared” after going to aid distribution sites in Rafah in southern Gaza.

“Reports of enforced disappearances targeting starving civilians seeking their basic right to food is not only shocking, but amounts to torture,” said the experts, who are mandated by the UN Human Rights Council but who do not speak on behalf of the UN itself.

“Using food as a tool to conduct targeted and mass disappearances needs to end now.”

In response, the GHF said it had found no evidence of “enforced disappearances” at its aid sites.

According to the AFP news agency, the GHF said in response to the experts’ statement: “We operate in a war zone where serious allegations exist against all parties operating outside our sites. But inside GHF facilities, there is no evidence of enforced disappearances.”

New famine deaths

With the enclave in the grips of a humanitarian crisis, the Gaza Ministry of Health also said on Thursday that four more people, including two children, had died of malnutrition and starvation in the enclave, raising hunger-related deaths to 317 people, including 121 children, since the war started.

“The scene on the ground is quite heartbreaking,” Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum reported from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.

“Families are still lining up in front of soup kitchens for hours under the scorching heat, often to return to their temporary shelters empty-handed,” he said.

“Others are risking their lives to travel to distribution points to seek food aid.”

Israel’s military campaign has devastated the territory and displaced most of the roughly two million Palestinians there.

It started after Hamas’s October 2023 attacks on Israel, which killed 1,139 people with another 251 taken captive. Most of the captives have since been released through diplomatic negotiations although 50 remain in Gaza, of whom 20 are said to be alive.

Israel, meanwhile, has not responded publicly to Hamas’s acceptance of a proposal for a ceasefire that would allow the return of some of the captives.

Israeli officials have, however, insisted that they would only accept a deal that sees all of the captives released and Hamas’s surrender.
