Manager Eddie Howe claims that Newcastle have not yet made a bid for Alexander Isak, their top scorer.

The Sweden striker, who Newcastle initially claimed had a “minor thigh injury,” is considering options for a potential summer move. He has not participated in the team’s pre-season tour of Asia.

Despite signing Hugo Ekitike for an initial sum of $69 million, a source has informed BBC Sport that Liverpool are still interested in the 25-year-old.

Isak is not for sale, according to the Magpies, and Howe says no offer has been made yet despite the fact that he acknowledges that he has “full control” over the player’s future.

He continues to be our player. At a press conference in Seoul, Howe stated, “He’s contracted to us.”

We have some control over what comes next for him, to some extent. I’d like to think that we have every chance still.

He stays, but that’s not in my power to decide. No club has made a formal offer to buy Alex, which we have not received.

Isak left Real Sociedad for Newcastle in 2022, signing for them for about £60 million, and he still has three years left on his contract.

Colombia ex-President Alvaro Uribe found guilty in landmark bribery trial

In a landmark trial, former Colombian president Alvaro Uribe was found guilty of witness tampering and bribery, making him the first ex-president to be found guilty at trial.

In order to pressure three former paramilitary members who were in prison into changing the testimony they had given to Ivan Cepeda, a left-wing senator who had launched an investigation into Uribe’s alleged ties to a paramilitary group in the 1990s, the judge ordered on Monday that there was sufficient evidence.

The Supreme Court received a libel lawsuit against Cepeda in 2012 from the defendant, Uribe. The high court, however, dropped the charges against Cepeda and began an investigation of Uribe in 2018.

Uribe could receive a sentence in a separate hearing on Friday, which will determine his sentencing. He is anticipated to challenge the decision.

Critics of Uribe have praised his trial as the deserved overthrow of a man who has been repeatedly accused of having intimate relationships with violent right-wing paramilitaries but who has never been found guilty of a crime.

The former leader, 73, and his supporters claim innocence and that the procedure is a persecution.

Uribe and Jaime Granados, one of his attorneys, took the stage via videolink, and Jaime Lombana, another attorney, made an in person appearance.

Juan Felipe Amaya, a member of Uribe’s legal team, told reporters at the court that “this is not the end of this process,” that the appeal is coming up next.

Granados demanded that Uribe remain free for the duration of the investigation and that the presumption of his innocence be maintained.

Some Uribe supporters and detractors donned masks on their faces as they gathered outside the court.

Because of his age, Uribe may be able to serve his final sentence on house arrest even if the conviction is ultimately upheld.

In Bogota, Colombia, on July 28, 2025, a man holds a mask that depicts former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe during a demonstration in support of him outside the Paloquemao court complex before the court’s decision to dismiss his case against him.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio criticized Uribe’s case. In the two years he served as president, Uruguay established a close relationship with the US, just like right-wing governments frequently did in Latin America.

“Uribe’s only crime has been fighting and defending his homeland unwaveringly.” Radical judges’ use of the judicial branch in Colombia has created a worrying precedent, according to Rubio on X.

Leftist leader Gustavo Petro, president of Colombia, defended the ruling, saying that “a strong justice system” will help the country overcome violence. Rubio was allegedly stifling Colombia’s sovereignty in another message, he added.

According to a note released on Monday, Banco de Bogota criticized a proposal by US Republican lawmaker Mario Diaz-Balart to cut non-military aid to Colombia next year, partly due to concerns about due process violations in the Uribe case.

Uribe, who served as a senator both before and after his presidency, is the party’s leader and is under house arrest for two months in 2020.

He has repeatedly emphasized that he has extradited US military leaders.

More than 205, 000 people were killed by paramilitary groups in Colombia, according to the Colombian truth commission, nearly half of the 450, 000 deaths recorded during the ongoing civil conflict.

Deadly rain, landslides force mass evacuations in northern China

According to state media, heavy rain has caused at least 30 fatalities and forced authorities to evacuate tens of thousands of people after torrential downpours caused landslides across northern China.

According to state news agency Xinhua, weather authorities have issued their second-highest rainstorm warning for Beijing, the city’s capital, Hebei and Tianjin, as well as 10 other northern, eastern, and southern provinces.

It added that the rains are anticipated to continue through Wednesday.

According to Xinhua, the most recent round of heavy rainstorms in Beijing had left 30 people dead as of midnight on Monday, citing the city’s municipal flood control headquarters.

Local state-run newspaper Beijing Daily reported on social media that more than 80, 000 people have been evacuated in China’s capital alone.

The suburb of Miyun, which is located northeast of the city center, had the highest death toll, according to the report.

Late on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping urged authorities to prepare for worst-case scenarios and immediately relocate residents of flood-traumatized areas.

Local officials “made all-out efforts to search and rescue missing persons… and made every effort to reduce casualties,” according to Beijing Daily.

According to state broadcaster CCTV, the government has allocated 350 million yuan ($48 million) for disaster relief in nine regions that have experienced heavy rains on Tuesday.

Northern Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, northeastern Jilin, eastern Shandong, and southern Guangdong are just a few of them.

According to the broadcaster, the capital has received a separate 200 million yuan ($27 million).

Eamonn Holmes’ ’embarrassed son’ sides with stepmum Ruth Langsford amid bitter divorce

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, the former This Morning couple, made headlines in the showbiz industry last year when they announced their planned divorce.

Eamonn Holmes’ son Niall is said to be on stepmum Ruth Langsford’s side in the wake of his dad’s bitter divorce with the Loose Women star.

The former This Morning couple, both 65, sent shockwaves through the showbiz world last year when they announced they had called time on their 14-year marriage, leaving their legion of loyal fans in shock.

Ruth was still wearing her wedding ring up until recently while maintaining a dignified silence despite the split. However, Eamonn moved on from Katie Alexander, a 43-year-old relationship counselor, last year, despite reports that it hasn’t been as positive for his children.

A source claimed the father-of-four, who shares son Jack, 22 with Ruth, had a major falling out with his son from his first marriage, Niall, 28 after the unlikely couple rocked up at an engagement party for one of Eamonn’s GB News pals earlier this month.

They told The Sun: “Niall and Eamonn had a massive fallout. There was a huge row following his split from Ruth. Things were said between them that cannot be unsaid, it must be heartbreaking for Eamonn. Eamonn accused him of siding with Ruth while Niall hit back about his dad’s behaviour.”

Another source claimed that Eamonn’s children are embarrassed by his actions in Bella magazine. They asserted that “each child is very upset, hurt, and embarrassed by Eamonn’s behavior and is fed up with picking sides all the time.” He may not like the outcome, but he didn’t, because they’ve warned him against forcing them to choose.

When Eamonn and Nana Akua’s engagement party took place earlier this month, he is said to have made a dig at Ruth.

Bella claimed that the veteran presenter’s “soulmate” at the opulent bash in London was Katie, and that he also discovered that “in sickness you find out who is there for you.”

According to a source who responded, “Ruth isn’t the one swanning around with someone new and younger on her arm,” the publication’s children said they were “unhappy” with the alleged jibe.

Eamonn is said to be literally leaning on Katie, and is frequently seen in a wheelchair as a result of his ongoing health issues after having a double hip replacement and spinal surgery.

The star’s ex-girlfriend was spotted without her wedding ring for the first time in more than a year after the split, and there is now “no turning back.”

The Loose Women veteran, who has been married to her for 14 years, broke up with her in May, according to a source who told OK! That Ruth made a significant decision to leave the ring after so long.

After wearing it for so long, Ruth’s family may have been shocked to remove that ring. However, it was the final chapter. The ending of Ruth’s marriage and that chapter of her life was symbolic and meant something to Eamonn.

She is permanently closing the door on her past. Ruth says, “I’ve moved on, it’s all over me. She is now frantically trying to avoid this divorce. There is no turning back.

There are similar moisturising day creams available for people looking for an alternative, such as Dr H Hyaluronic Acid Anti-Ageing Day Moisturiser (Debenhams, £18.75, down from £220) and L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler SPF 50 Day Cream (Superdrug, £14.99, down from £29.99) , but No7 fans are taking advantage of this deal to stock up on their supplies.

With 500 different reviews from Boots customers, the cream receives an overall rating of 4.2 out of 5. Many people who had purchased and used the cream, including some who have been using it for years, gave positive reviews of it.

One person praised the cream. It quickly absorbs and makes skin feel very smooth. Another continued, “I’ve used this for a while, and it suits my skin.” It has a lovely, glowing appearance. I frequently receive compliments on how beautiful my skin looks, and I highly recommend using it for sensitive skin.

However, there were some critics who felt the quality wasn’t up to par with what they had hoped. Some people also discovered that it triggered reactions on their skin, so Boots advises people to test suitability with a small patch before applying it completely.

One person responded, “I received this as a present. I didn’t like it because it made my skin feel more like sunscreen and was very greasy. If your skin is extremely dry, it might be better. One more asserted that “I was certain that this would be my new favorite because the television ads made me want to buy it.” Sadly, it caused stings to my face and reddened my skin, which made me look sunburned.
