English amateur Lottie Woad carded a second-round 67 to take a three-shot lead at the halfway point of the Women’s Irish Open at Carton House.
Woad, 21, recorded seven birdies and just one bogey in windy conditions to lead Switzerland’s overnight joint-leader Chiara Tamburlini, who birdied her last hole for a two-under 71.
World number 19 Charley Hull of England shot a bogey-free 69 and shares third place alongside Australia’s Kirsten Rudgeley (68), Sweden’s four-time Solheim Cup player Madelene Sagstrom (71) and New Zealand’s Amelia Garvey (70).
England’s Hannah Screen (72) and Alexandra Swayne of the Virgin Islands (72) are a shot further back on six-under.
Woad is the world’s top-ranked amateur and served notice of her potential with victory in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and a top-10 finish in the Women’s Open last year.
And while she has not yet turned professional, the Florida State University player has put herself in a strong position to win her first Ladies European Tour title with 36 holes to go in County Kildare.
After a bogey-free opening 68, Woad started Friday’s round on the 10th and picked up three shots on her front nine.
Woad, from Farnham in Surrey, gained another three strokes in the first six holes of her second nine, and while a solitary blemish came on the par-four eighth, a closing birdie extended her advantage at the top of the leaderboard.
Woad led by four until 2024 Order of Merit winner Tamburlini knocked her approach at the final hole to within a foot for a closing birdie.
But while Woad shone, home favourite Maguire failed to build on her opening 72 as she dropped three shots in her first five holes.
The three-time Solheim Cup player then mixed three birdies with a double bogey on the back nine to sit in a tie for 49th alongside England’s former Open champion Georgia Hall, who shot 76.
Noel and Liam Gallagher have walked out on stage together in Cardiff – reuniting Oasis and ending a row which has lasted over a decade.
The Manchester brothers swaggered out into the Principality Stadium to incredible noise from the crowd for the biggest rock reunion the world has ever seen. Walking to the stage with their song “F**king in the Bushes” playing, they wasted no time as they performed their hit “Hello. ” The sold-out crowd welcomed them with cheers as thousands of pints were thrown into the air.
Having finished their first track, the crowd were treated to Acquiesce, which first appeared as a B-side to their first UK Number One single, Some Might Say. “Hey, beautiful people, it’s been too long,” Liam said as he addressed the crowd before performing their 1995 mega-hit, Morning Glory.
In true Liam style, he made a cheeky remark to the crowd, joking: “I see you’re all on the glue still down there! ” As the concert continued, Liam told the crowd to turn around, with everyone’s arms over each other and bounce for their 1994 mega-hit, Cigarettes & Alcohol.

But while the brothers are Manchester legends, the crowd cheekily booed Liam when he asked who in the crowd was from their hometown. “Anybody here from Manchester? Anyone here from Burn-aaage? ” he asked. Liam briefly left the stage while Noel performed the emotional track, Half The World Away, released 1998.
During the concert, the two brothers also shared a moving tribute to the late Liverpool FC footballer, Diogo Jota, who died on Thursday. As they performed the track Live Forever, an image of Jota wearing his signature Number 20 top was shown across the stadium. Liverpool has since announced that they will retire the number forever, in a mark of respect.

The brothers, who have only been pictured together twice since announcing the tour a year ago, got straight into the hits, blasting out Oasis anthems in the Cardiff sunshine and thrilling over 70,000 fans in the stadium, many of whom had been enjoying drinking in pubs around the venue all afternoon.
It was estimated more than 100,000 people travelled to Cardiff yesterday, with some hoping to get a last minute ticket or just to be there to celebrate in the pubs and bars as they parties late into the night with Oasis songs played on loop.

Fans Lachlan Weekes and Jayden Helm, who spent more than a day travelling from Sydney, Australia, to attend the concert in the Welsh capital, were among fans gathering ahead of the gig.
Mr Weekes said: “We’ve been planning it forever. We always said that if they got back together, we’d be at that first show. ” Mr Helm said: “We’ve been lifelong fans – we’re 22 and 21, so haven’t really had a chance to see them before.
“We always said it was worth it to come, we wouldn’t miss it for the world,” he added. “To take time off work to come over here, it’s more than worth it. ” The pair also visited Manchester, where the band formed in 1991, stopping off at Heaton Park as part of their personal Oasis tour.

Alex Schuetz, an Oasis fan from Germany, said you could not travel far enough to see the band. “The first time I saw them was in 1997,” he said.
“The last time was in Manchester 2009, just before they broke up. I even got a ticket for a small festival in Germany, and on the ferry to that festival, I heard they broke up. I was like, ‘Oh my god’ something was dying inside of me – it sounds a bit stupid, but it took me ages (to get over it). ” He added: “I’ve come from Germany. You cannot travel far enough, I’ve been a fan since 1995. ”
The brothers announced the Oasis Live ’25 tour last August, starting with two dates in Cardiff on Friday and Saturday, before heading across the UK and Ireland. In the tour programme Noel reflected on playing with Oasis and his brother, saying: “People will never forget the way you made them feel. ”
He also mused about why so many people of all ages tried to get tickets for the Oasis Live 25 tour. Noel said: “A new generation recognises how Oasis wasn’t manufactured. It was chaotic, and flawed, and not technically brilliant. We were rough and ready guys from a rehearsal room, and people recognised it. ”

Liam has been vocal for weeks on X, formerly Twitter, about the gigs. Asked how he felt to be performing with Noel again he said: “You know what it’s spiritual but I can’t help think about all those wasted years, what a waste of PRECIOUS time. ”
Liam also claimed last year he was the one to wave the olive branch in terms of them getting back together. He said: “I called him but don’t tell anyone as I don’t want folk thinking I’m a soft lad and stuffs keep it between me n you cheers. “
The reunion announcement last year came 15 years after Noel quit the Britpop band, saying he “simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer”, following a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.
While fans have been pleading for the group to reunite since they disbanded, website issues and controversial dynamic pricing brought outrage, with many failing to secure a spot.
After tickets for the UK and Ireland shows went on sale last year, some standard tickets appeared to have jumped from £148 to £355.
The controversy prompted the Government and the UK’s competition watchdog to pledge to look at the use of dynamic pricing. Following Cardiff, Oasis will visit Manchester’s Heaton Park, London’s Wembley Stadium, Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium and Dublin’s Croke Park throughout July, August and September.
The group will then head to Japan, South Korea, South America, Australia and North America. A movie, produced by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, is being made in conjunction with the reunion tour.
The rock band was led by lead guitarist Noel and his frontman brother Liam, during their 18 years together. Oasis signed to independent record label Creation Records in 1993, rising to fame with the release of their debut chart-topping album Definitely Maybe on August 29 1994 followed by (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? Which became one of the biggest selling albums ever released in 1995.
Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz kept himself on course for a third Wimbledon title in a row by overcoming Jan-Lennard Struff in an enthralling encounter to reach the fourth round.
The world number two has yet to really hit his stride at the tournament but came through some big pressure situations and produced moments of quality in this match to seal a 6-1 3-6 6-3 6-4 win.
Alcaraz will next face 14th seed Andrey Rublev – who beat Adrian Mannarino 7-5 6-2 6-3 – for a place in the quarter-finals.
“I knew it was going to be difficult,” the 22-year-old Spaniard said.
“He has big serves, approaches the net and I am really pleased with everything I had done today.
“I am proud to get the win in four sets. It was stressful as well. I was suffering in every set that I did today. “
Alcaraz had to battle through five sets and almost five hours on court to see off Fabio Fognini in the opening round and, although he did then beat British wildcard Ollie Tarvet in straight sets, he had to fend off a number of chances the Wimbledon debutant had to break him.
Initially, it looked like he would sail past world number 125 Struff in front of an expectant Centre Court crowd on Friday as he wrapped up the opening set in under 30 minutes, dropping just one game to the German.
But the second set was a different story as Struff found his power and accuracy on his serve. Having not managed a single ace in the first set, he hit four in the second to help him break Alcaraz twice and level up matters.
But that accuracy deserted the German number three early in the third. Three double faults gifted Alcaraz a break to go 2-0 up and he stayed in control to take the set.
The pressure ramped up in the fourth but Alcaraz showed the quality that has allowed him to go 21 matches unbeaten.
He fended off a couple of potential break opportunities before a wonderful backhand volley at the net helped him on the way to a crucial break at 4-4.
That had the Centre Court crowd up on their feet before Alcaraz wrapped up the set and the match with a dominant hold to love to cement his place in the next round.
Fritz’s lengthy time on court continues
Taylor Fritz must not want to be anywhere else but on court at Wimbledon, given how long his matches have been.
All three of his matches have lasted more than three hours – in his latest epic, he beat Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-4 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 6-1.
The American did at least get it done in four sets rather than the two five-set marathons that preceded it.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m a bit sore after this match, because even though it was four, it was much more physical than my other two matches,” he said.
“I did a lot more side-to-side running in the heat as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m a bit sore. But overall I’m feeling good. “
He will next face Australian Jordan Thompson in the last 16.
Thompson, who had never reached this stage of Wimbledon before, beat Italian Luciano Darderi 6-4 6-4 3-6 6-3.
Manchester City defender Kyle Walker is close to joining Burnley after passing a medical at the Premier League newcomers.
The 35-year-old England right-back will sign a two-year contract with the Clarets, having spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Serie A side AC Milan.
The move will end Walker’s eight-year stay at City, where he won 17 trophies including six Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League.
He made 15 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side in the last campaign before joining Milan, who did not activate the option to sign Walker permanently.
Walker will link up at Burnley with head coach Scott Parker, who he played alongside at Tottenham during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
The defender was part of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad during June’s international fixtures and won his 96th cap in a 3-1 friendly defeat by Senegal.
England had big centuries from Harry Brook and Jamie Smith but little else to celebrate as India stayed in control of the second Test on a turbulent Day Three at Edgbaston.
Resuming on 77-3 on Friday, in reply to India’s mammoth first-innings 587 all out, England lost Joe Root and Ben Stokes to successive balls from Mohammed Siraj in the second over but recovered brilliantly purely thanks to a 303-run stand by Brook (158) and Smith (a career-best 184 not out).
After taking the second new ball, India claimed England’s last five wickets for 20 runs in just 44 balls to dismiss the home team for 407 – Brook and Smith accounted for 342 of those runs – and take a lead of 180 into the second innings.
England had a remarkable six ducks in total, and Siraj’s figures of 6-70.
Batting under cloud cover, the Indians reached stumps on 64-1 – with only the loss of Yashasvi Jaiswal (28) – and will resume on Saturday 244 runs ahead and with a series-tying victory in their sights.
Lokesh Rahul was unbeaten on 28 alongside Karun Nair, on 7.
“We are quite ahead right now,” Siraj said, “but the plan is to get as many runs on the board because we know their attacking mindset. ”

England was in a big hole that looked gargantuan when Root and Stokes departed to leave their side on 84-5 and still trailing by more than 500 runs.
Siraj dismissed England’s best batter — Root for 22 — by enticing a nick down the leg side, with wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant taking a diving catch, and then its captain for a golden duck. Stokes trudged back to the dressing room after a steeply rising and seaming delivery came off the shoulder of his bat and flashed to Pant.
England were rocked, but Smith and Brook played as if there was no pressure with a counterattacking riposte.
“Hopefully, we’ve clawed ourselves back in the game,” Brook said. “I just tried to bat as long as I could, and Smudge [Smith] tried to get the momentum back our way. He’s a phenomenal player. ”

Smith came in to face a hat-trick ball, struck that for four, and went on to make the biggest score by an England wicketkeeper – surpassing Alec Stewart. He raced to his second Test hundred before lunch in just 80 balls, the third fastest by an Englishman, and including an over when he pulled and smashed Prasidh Krishna for a six and four fours. Smith was dropped by Pant on 121 off a tough chance.
Brook compiled his ninth Test hundred in 27 matches, getting to three figures, courtesy of a classy late cut for four, after being dismissed for 99 in the first test won by England at Headingley last week.
Brook, a star for England in all formats, reined in some slight frustration at India changing tactics and bowling wide outside off-stump to a lopsided field and looked good after going down with cramp.
Soon afterwards, he was bowled by Akash Deep (4-88) – armed with the second new ball – and was serenaded as he walked off gingerly.
That precipitated England’s late-order collapse that saw numbers nine through 11 – Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue and Shaoib Bashir – all being removed for ducks, joining Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope and Stokes.
Tongue responded by trapping Jaiswal lbw, but India finished the day in the driving seat.
“If I hadn’t got out, we would not be in this situation now,” Brook said, “but we saw last week how quickly it can change.
A frontman of a huge punk rock band has admitted a health setback has ‘really took the wind out of my sail’ as he’s been struggling since March

A rock star has admitted his health struggles have taken their toll and “really took the wind out of my sail”. Frontman of Bowling For Soup, Jaret Reddick, has candidly opened up on his condition after needing to cancel a string of gigs.
The 53-year-old musician revealed he has been suffering from a “brutal” flare-up of his ulcerative colitis. He admitted it has been causing him issues since March.
According to NHS, the condition is a long-term condition where the colon and rectum become inflamed. The organisation says that some people may go for weeks or months with very mild symptoms, or none at all. However, it said that during a flare-up, “some people with ulcerative colitis also experience symptoms elsewhere in their body; which are known as extra-intestinal symptoms”.

Taking to social media, the musician shared an update. While sitting in a business class seat on an aeroplane, the singer said: “I fell off the wagon. Many of you have been asking about my health and I appreciate it so much.
“Truth is, the Ulcerative Colitis flare since March has really taken the wind out of my sail. I had to cancel shows, vacation plans, drs appts, and the list goes on. ”

He confessed his medication in a bit to manage symptoms had also been causing issues as he went on: “The steroids make me irritable and ravenous. And I hate both those things! ! “
However he praised those close to him. “My support system has been so gracious in dealing with all of it,” he gushed. Despite his openness, Jaret pleaded with fans to avoid offering him their advice. “I do not need your advice,” he reiterated.
“I’m under several doctors’ care, but I know it’s social media and you want me to do what you think is best. You don’t know me and you don’t know my health. But thank you. “
He admitted he is starting to feel better. And he also confessed he has no intention of slowing down just yet.
After saying he is doing what he can, he said: “This has been a tough year, but also one of the best years of my life. And one of the best years for all things Jaret Reddick!
“Out of the 40 pounds I lost, I gained back 3. I earned it! Haha. I’m back b*****s! ! Watch me spin! ! “

He also shared that it wasn’t just his health that had caused cancellations. His latest concert to mark the July 4 celebrations had been put on ice due to the weather conditions.
He shared: “Due to circumstances out of our control, unfortunately Kerrville’s Fourth on the River is cancelled this year. ” He ended by telling people the the area to stay safe.
