Wilson misses out on history after no-look black

In his 6-5 victory over Si Jiahui at the Shanghai Masters, showboating Kyren Wilson wasted the chance to become a famous player when he made a no-look shot on the target.

Six hundred consecutive breaks were included in the final-16 tie, tying the record for the most in a best-of-11 match against Judd Trump and Neil Robertson, and Mark Selby and Robertson will face off in 2020.

Wilson made the crucial frame of 97, but he chose to miss the black and shoot no-look.

The Englishman claimed it wouldn’t have changed his approach if he had known he was about to break the record.

Wilson remarked, “I did the silly no-look thing.”

I think the sport is “exploding up” out there, particularly in China, and a lot of it involves doing things a little differently. You must have some fun, too. That kind of thing is appreciated by the audience.

Even if I knew the record, there is no way I would have just rolled that black in. It continues to be about making changes. In snooker, we are entering a more contemporary era.

Strictly bosses ‘in talks’ with England rugby legend amid rumours over pro pairing

With pros like Nadiya Bychkova and Nadiya Bychkova already conducting rehearsals, Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year.

A retired rugby union player is reportedly in talks to appear on Strictly Come Dancing. There’s already speculation over who they could be partnered with for the BBC dance contest if they end up taking part in the upcoming series.

The show is set to return later this year and rehearsals underway for the professional dancers. The line-up of contestants for the new series of Strictly has yet to be announced, but there’s been speculation over potential contestants in recent weeks.

Chris Robshaw, 39, who captained England’s national team, is now among those rumoured for the dancefloor when the show returns. Since his retirement from rugby in 2022, he’s already been on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

It’s been teased that Chris would likely be paired up with pro Nadiya Bychkova, 35, if he does Strictly this year. She was announced as one of the returning dancers in April, alongside two new additions to the pro line-up.

Chris, who is married to classical singer Camilla Kerslake, is thought to be almost 6 foot 2 inches tall so there’s speculation that Nadiya would be only pro close to matching his stature, unless he has a same-sex partner for the competition. A source teased to the Sun that Chris, who is reportedly in “advanced talks” for Strictly, and returning pro Nadiya could deliver “sizzling performances” if they are partnered on the show.

Chris is likely to be the hunkiest celebrity signing for the 2025 season, according to the source, who predicts some sizzling performances from Nadiya and Chris. However, because he was a former rugby player, he will also have some big dance shoes to fill as many other players have signed for Strictly and performed remarkably well there.

A number of former rugby players have competed on Strictly since the TV show launched in 2004, with Martin Offiah placing fourth in the first series. Matt Dawson was runner-up in 2006 and Kenny Logan then placed fifth in 2007.

Austin Healey also achieved a top five position when he competed in 2008, having placed fourth. Gavin Henson, who appeared on the show in 2010, and Ben Cohen, who competed in 2013, ended up in fifth and eighth place respectively.

More recently, contestants with a background in rugby haven’t done as well on Strictly though. Thom Evans placed twelfth when he competed in the ballroom back in 2014 and Ugo Monye placed eleventh in the contest in 2021.

The full cast list for the new series has not yet been revealed. However, the BBC has already made it clear which dancers will return to the stage, with Nadiya a part of the cast returning for a different series.

Nadiya and the other pros have already started rehearsing for the upcoming series. They have posted updates from training on Instagram, including introducing Alexis Warr and Julian Caillon, who are the newest pros on the show.

Nadiya shared a photo of the group dancing together last night in a studio. The best in the industry were pictured with her in the ballroom bubble. I’m so excited for it, and it’s another adventure.

Wynne Evans recalls the moment he ‘fought to save his own life’ near BBC building

In a sincere post, Wynne Evans details how the Strictly Come Dancing scandal affected him and criticizes BBC bosses. He calls the system “broken” and opens up about how it affected him.

Wynne Evans made an appearance in a candid photo.

Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans has candidly revealed how “close to the edge” he came following the Strictly scandal. The former Go Compare star, 53, has accused the BBC ’s Strictly Come Dancing of being “fundamentally flawed in its duty of care”.

His comments come almost a year after his appearance on the BBC dance competition. As part of the 20th series, Evans partnered professional dancer Katya Jones.

Evans apologized for using “inappropriate language” during the Strictly tour’s launch, but in May he announced he had been fired by the BBC and that he would no longer be on BBC Radio Wales.

And he revealed what he thought after a psychiatrist intervened to chat with him. The tenor stated in his post on Tuesday that Tim Davie had publicly promised to protect those who participated in Strictly.

As I fought to save my own life while sat in a psychiatrist’s office close to the BBC, staring out the window at the building, I thought about that promise. I was so close to the edge that.

He continued, “I’m not writing this as a victim, as I promised to bear my mistakes.” The system is malfunctioning, so I’m writing it. Strictly’s duty of care is now fundamentally flawed. While people’s well-being is in jeopardy, it can continue because of ratings.

Evans claimed that the BBC had “lied and lied” to defraud themselves of any wrongdoing and that this was the “most difficult” part of his life.

He continued, “From my dealings right at the top with (BBC director-general) Tim Davie, through BBC Wales, and the HR department, one thing has always been clear: People come second, not their jobs.

“I initially imagined that Strictly’s rehearsal room would be a magical experience. And it was right away. But the first thing I was told was, “Don’t trust anyone in this room, not even me.”

That really hit me. Although I occasionally sail close to the line, I’ve always had my heart on my sleeve, so I never feel bad about what I do. I had no idea how people would go about protecting their personal and BBC brands at all costs.

Evans claimed elsewhere in his position that the HR department “had twisted facts, invented files and dates, and created a version of events that simply wasn’t true” (p.

He said, “In my name, statements were made that I hadn’t even witnessed or even consented to.” My voice disappeared.

After making an apology to one of the other professional dancers, Janette Manrara, the Mail On Sunday reported in January, he had previously apologized.

In May, he told the Sun that the comment made on the show’s tour was not sexual or directed at one of the female cast. He said it was actually a nickname for fellow contestant, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick.

Evans’ social media post was not commented on by the BBC.

Peaty targets four gold medals at 2028 Olympics

At the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, Adam Peaty from Great Britain hopes to win four gold medals in the pool.

The 30-year-old has previously won three gold medals and three silver medals at the Olympics in the 100-meter breaststroke, 4x100m mixed medley, and 4x100m medley.

The 50-meter breaststroke would be one of three disciplines added to the 2028 program, with Peaty, a three-time world champion, and the current world record holder over that distance, confirmed in April 2025.

Peaty has stated that he intends to compete in both individual and group events in Los Angeles, with the additional benefit of facing defending champion USA on “home turf.”

He stated on BBC Radio 5 Live, “I’m very excited that the 50-meter has been added, but I will also do the 100-meter, giving me four chances to win a medal.”

After taking a break from swimming at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Peaty won silver in the 100-meter breaststroke.

After a “major, major burnout,” he took a lengthy break from the sport in 2023 to prioritize his mental well-being.

However, Peaty has a clear plan for his return to competition and is training “a lot smarter” as an older athlete, despite the fact that “the athlete in my head” is unable to compete at the ongoing World Championships in Singapore.

When I began to recover from training, I decided that this Worlds would not be the right fit for me because it would be too hurried, according to Peaty.

The Commonwealth Games in 2026 are where I want to go. Next year, I want to attend the Europeans. It’s ridiculous because having a world record doesn’t mean I’ll be there, so I’m never going to take my place for granted. I must work those places because they appeal to me.

Before I arrived, I did some race preparation, and we are prepared for the World Cups in America and Canada in good shape.

He continued, “I would have said no way, if you had told me I would be doing a pilates session this morning, ten years ago.”

“I look back and remember that I was chasing numbers; I needed outputs and validation,” he said. However, I wasn’t swimming the smartest in my head when it came to recovery, mental health, and the warning signs of burnout.

Lassa Fever Claims 152 Lives In 2025, Says NCDC

As of epidemiological week 28 of the year 2025, 152 people died from Lassa fever, according to the Nigerian Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC).

The NCDC confirmed in its most recent situation report that the number of new cases identified for week 28 remained unchanged from the previous week.

According to the statement, Ondo, Edo, and Benue states reported the most recent new infections.

This is higher than the 17.3 percent that were recorded during the same time period in 2024, which is higher than the 18.7% rate for case fatalities.

At least 21 states have confirmed one or more Lassa fever cases in 105 local government areas as of 2025, demonstrating the continued spread of the illness across multiple regions.

REVISION YOUR STEP AND LOCAL PROCESS TO DISCUSS MEDICAL QUESTIONS

The health agency reports that five states were the states where the majority of Lassa fever cases were found this year.

Bauchi came in second with 23% of all confirmed cases, while Ondo had the highest share with 32%. Edo came in second with 17%, Taraba with 14%, and Ebonyi with 3 percent.

The five states combined account for 89 percent of all infections reported so far, while the rest 11% were spread across 16 other states.

The most affected age group, with a median age of 30, is still the age of 21.

One to one point eight is the male-to-male ratio among cases that have been confirmed. The death toll rate is still high despite a decrease in suspected and confirmed cases compared to the same period in 2024.
