After a powerful earthquake off the Russian coast, tsunami alerts were issued in several nations, with waves measuring 3 to 4 meters (19.8 to 13 feet) recorded in Russia’s far east.
Early on Wednesday, the regional minister for emergency situations announced that a tsunami measuring 3 to 4 meters high had been recorded in some of Russia’s Kamchatka region.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake of magnitude 8.7 struck 136 kilometers (85 miles) east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in the far east of Russia.
The country was advised of tsunami-related waves that could reach a metre (3. 3 ft) in the country by Japan’s meteorological agency.
The state of Hawaii was immediately placed on a “tsunami watch” by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
The quake may be strong enough to “generate destructive waves” in Hawaii, according to the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency in a social media post.
Locals want Birmingham International Airport to make a significant change, and Ozzy Osbourne, who will be honored today in Birmingham, will be honored with a cortege procession.

Birmingham Airport chiefs say they are “closely following” the petition to rename the flight hub “Ozzy Osbourne International”.
Bosses have confirmed a permanent piece of artwork dedicated to the star will be erected at the base, which is east of the city. They described the Black Sabbath frontman as “an inspiration to so many” and recognise his “heritage and contribution to the region” must be celebrated.
But the airport, a base for the likes of easyJet, Ryanair and TUI, stopped short at verifying plans it will be renamed “Ozzy Osbourne International,” a move championed by around 50,000 people so far in a petition online.
“Ozzy Osbourne is an inspiration to so many in our region, proving that talent, hard work and commitment can take you to all corners of the world. In the coming weeks, we will be looking at how we can celebrate his heritage and contribution to the region via terminal artwork, creating a greater sense of place for Birmingham and his fans,” the airport spokesperson told Birmingham Live.
The star will be laid to rest in a private funeral for family and friends today, but before that, there will be a special procession through Birmingham. The cortege will be followed by his family as it moves down Broad Street to the famous Black Sabbath bridge and bench, a tribute to the musician and his band.

The superfan who started the airport petition, Dan Hudson, told Birmingham Live: “Ozzy’s influence on music and culture is undeniable. Naming our international airport after him would be a fitting tribute to his extraordinary career and contributions to the arts.”
It is only appropriate that we do this in Birmingham in honor of Ozzy because other airports in the UK are named after their famous children (George Best International Airport in Belfast and John Lennon Airport in Liverpool),” Dan, from nearby Solihull, continued. Together, we can honor Ozzy Osbourne’s legacy and the incredible impact his music has had on the world stage.

Fans have been signing books of condolence at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and at Villa Park in Aston, the area of the city in which Ozzy grew up. The rocker died last week aged 76, following a journey with Parkinson’s disease.
With a record-breaking 75 million albums, Ozzy co-founded the rock band Black Sabbath in 1968. With Black Sabbath, the self-declared Prince of Darkness established a music scene, and he later achieved enormous success.
Washington, DC – A new poll from the research firm Gallup indicates that only 32 percent of Americans support Israel’s military action in Gaza as atrocities against Palestinians are still persuading. This is a 10-point drop from September 2024.
The issue was also revealed by the survey’s release on Tuesday, which revealed a significant partisan gap. Democrats had 8% of the vote, while 71 percent of those who identified as Republicans said they were against Israel’s actions.
In total, 60% of respondents said they were against Israel’s military action in Gaza.
The most recent survey, according to Shibley Telhami, a professor at the University of Maryland and director of the Critical Issues Poll, reveals a growing trend of Israeli discontent that extends beyond the Gaza war.
According to Telhami, “What we’re seeing here is an enraging generational paradigm among particularly young Americans — primarily Democrats and independents, but even some young Republicans — who now use the horrors of Gaza to characterize Israel itself,” according to Telhami.
Only 9% of those under the age of 35 in the survey on Tuesday said they approve of Israeli military action in Gaza, and 6% said they approve of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Following a Pew Research Center poll conducted in April, the majority of respondents, including 50 percent of Republicans under 50, said they had negative views of Israel.
Washington’s unwavering support for Israel has been ongoing despite the change in public opinion in the US. The US has given Israel billions of dollars in military aid as well as diplomatic support at the UN since the start of the conflict in Gaza.
The Israeli assault on Gaza, which human rights organizations have characterized as a genocide, has been supported without a compromise by President Donald Trump and his predecessor, Joe Biden.
In Gaza, Israel has imposed a suffocating siege, flattened the majority of the area, and reduced its buildings to rubble, killing more than 60, 000 Palestinians. The UN reported on Tuesday that there was “mounting evidence of famine and widespread starvation” and that the siege was to blame for the deadly hunger.
However, the US Congress continues to be steadfastly pro-Israel across all parties. In a 422-to-6 vote in the House of Representatives earlier this month, a legislative effort to stop Israel from receiving $500 million in missile defense funding failed.
What accounts for the tense relationship between the policies of ordinary Americans and their elected representatives’ positions?
Telhami cited “priorities” among voters. He explained that elections have traditionally been driven by foreign policy. For instance, Democrats typically choose domestic issues like abortion, the economy, and gun control as their top priority.
He also noted the influence of pro-Israel organizations like the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which have spent millions of dollars on progressive candidates for president.
However, the professor claims that things are changing.
He claimed that as more and more people in the US vote on the issue because they are “soul-searching” to question what they stand for, Palestine is taking on greater public importance.
“It’s not just Gaza,” he said. In terms of our assistance, support, or, at times, direct collaboration, we are enabling the horror in Gaza, according to Telhami.
That it is actually transforming who we are, not just “Do we support Israel?” Do we back Palestinians?
He claimed that the movement’s victory in the Democratic mayoral primary in New York City last month demonstrates it.
“Zohran Mamdani’s rise in New York is giving people pause because, as some people believed, he’s been able to generate excitement despite his views on Israel-Palestine, but rather because of his views on Israel-Palestine,” he said.
Donald Trump, the president of the United States, claimed that Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex abuser and disgraced financier, “stole” young female workers at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.
Trump claimed that one of the people who spoke to reporters on Tuesday while returning from a trip to Scotland was Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most well-known accusers.
He hired people to leave the [Mar-a-Lago] spa, and they were taken out. In other words, Trump has been “gone.” When I learned of it, I told him, “We don’t want you taking our people,” I said.
“And then he repeated it not too long later. And I responded, “Get out of here.” “
As his administration refuses to release government records with details about Epstein’s abuses, the US president, who has had a long-standing relationship with him for years, has grown more defensive.
According to officials, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, releasing additional documents could lead to the dissemination of child pornography and victim-related information.
However, Bondi’s comments have fueled the contentiousness. Bondi claimed that Epstein’s alleged client list was “sitting on my desk right now” in a February interview with Fox News.
Conspiracy theorists have long held that Epstein kept a list or contact list to extort influential figures in politics and the arts. Additionally, they have questioned Epstein’s 2019 jailhouse suicide, calling it a cover-up without any evidence.
In previous media interviews, former FBI director Kash Patel and his deputy, Dan Bongino, had praised those theories.
However, a review by the Department of Justice and FBI later came to the conclusion that Epstein had died by suicide as the government had initially believed and that there was no justification for such a list.
Some members of Trump’s own far-right base, who have long speculated about Epstein’s connections to powerful people and his death, were offended by that assertion.
Giuffre has played a significant role in online conspiracies. She claimed that Epstein had pressured her into having sex with the powerful people in his orbit.
Giuffre maintained that Epstein’s ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell approached her when she was a teenager while working at Mar-a-Lago before her suicide earlier this year.
Giuffre worked as a spa attendant at the time. Her father worked in resort maintenance.
Giuffre claims that Maxwell paid for her sexual abuse after offering to pay for her to attend Masseuse Epstein. She claimed that Maxwell and Epstein had groomed her to perform sex acts for other men. Giuffre claimed that “moment” was occasionally used as a slang term for sex.
In New York, Giuffre ultimately sued Maxwell in civil court. Although Maxwell refutes Giuffre’s claims, she settled the case for an undisclosed sum.
Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for conspiring to sexually abuse underage girls in a federal prison in Florida.

Now, days later, Brooke has shared a message in a touching note, despite having publicly estranged from the wrestler and her mum, Linda. In the lengthy Instagram post, Brooke wrote: “My Dearest Daddy, You were my everything, and I will always be your girl.

She continued, “I absolutely LOVE them with every fiber of my being, which I believe they know, but I also understand and have empathy for their own struggles.” Every day, my heart hurts, but it never stops me. A young girl inside me has a motherly need for her parents.
