Former reality star Tamika Chesser is accused of murdering and decapitating her partner in a grisly case that has shocked Australia. The 34-year-old, who appeared in series two of Beauty and the Geek back in 2010, is accused of killing Julian Story on or around June 17.

On June 19, neighbours of Story’s called the emergency services after spotting smoke coming from the apartment the couple shared in the South Australian fishing port of Port Lincoln. Julian, 38, was subsequently found dismembered and missing his head on the bathroom floor of the unit.

According to ABC, police documents said officers had discovered “deceased remains which were severely burnt and disfigured” at the property. “The accused was seated in a garden chair in the rear yard adjacent to unit 3 in an unresponsive and catatonic state at this time,” the official report added.

Chesser was arrested and charged with murder. The former TV star was taken to Port Lincoln hospital, before being admitted to forensic mental health care facility James Nash House.

The murder suspect is alleged to have used a bag to transport Julian’s head to an unknown location and police officers and disaster volunteer organisation SES went onto scour cliffs, parks and bushland in the town, as well as the ocean around the pier and bay area. But in a major update, the multi-agency search has been called off.

South Australian police said in a statement: “Intensive searching using these resources has been paused for now but may resume at a later stage. Investigators are now in the process of reviewing a significant amount of CCTV footage to determine any other areas for searching and may return to Port Lincoln. Police wish to reassure the public that the accused remains in custody charged with murder, and that this was not a random incident. “

CCTV images show Chesser walking three dogs and carrying a bag while wearing a Hijab-style head covering. Detectives are keen to pin down more of her movements in the week of the murder, particularly between midnight on June 17 and and 3.30pm on June 19, with locals asked to review any CCTV or dashcam footage.

“We know that Tamika did not drive a vehicle and regularly walked around the township of Port Lincoln,” said Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke. “We are appealing to anyone who can help us to identify Tamika’s movements to please contact police. We are releasing the details of this horrific crime because it is vital for Julian’s family to peacefully lay him to rest. “

Chesser appeared at Adelaide Magistrates Court last Friday, with a date set for her to return in December. As he appealed for information, Det Supt Fielke said Julian’s family were keen to lay their loved one to rest.

Diddy’s kids give two-word response to verdict after supporting through harrowing trial

Diddy’s family have spoken out after he was cleared of the most serious charges after the jury handed down a verdict today at a New York Court.

The hip hop mogul had been found not guilty of racketeering and of sex trafficking former girlfriend Cassie Ventura and another woman referred to as ‘Jane. ‘ As the verdict, decided by eight men and four women, acquitted him of the most serious counts, he dropped to the floor. But he was found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution, relating to Ventura and Jane.

When asked how his dad was, Diddy’s son, Christian, known professionally as King Combs, responded: “Great,” while his daughters added: “Good, happy. “

During the two-month trial, the court heard how Diddy flew people around the country, including his girlfriends and paid male sex workers, to engage in sexual encounters, a felony violation of the federal Mann Act.

However, he was acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, relating to allegations that he forced his former girlfriends into drug-fuelled sex encounters, which had been known as ‘Freak-Offs. ‘

Shortly before the verdicts were delivered following days of deliberation, Diddy asked the courtroom to pray for his family, and this was received with applause.

When the news was delivered, he fell to his knees, with his head down in his chair, appearing to pray after avoiding the longest sentence – life in prison for the highest charge.

Diddy’s family, who had supported him throughout the case, clapped and cheered. His defence lawyers hugged one another, and Diddy then stopped and embraced his lawyer, Brian Steel. The mixed result came on day three of deliberations.

Throughout the ongoing trial, Diddy had pleaded not guilty to all allegations made against him. Diddy appeared overwhelmed as the court adjourned for at least a few hours.

His attorney told the court that Diddy had been given “his life” by the jury after he faced spending the rest of it behind bars. Marc Agnifilo added that the musician would be “nothing short of a fool” if he violated any of the conditions laid out by the court, should he be released from custody.

Agnifilo said: “He treasures, I assure you, the opportunity that he has been given, and he will not run afoul of anything this court imposes on him. ” Agnifilo went on to say that he should be “released on appropriate conditions,” as he had been acquitted on racketeering and sex trafficking.

He’s reportedly considering returning to his home in Miami, where he would live under the conditions of his release, if he is to be released. Judge Arun Subramanian asked: “Is your proposal that he leaves this courtroom and walk outside? ” Agnifilo replied, it was.

Speaking about the first reunion gig, a source told us: “With a new lineup and it being such a huge first show, the boys will do some songs inside the venue too. Some tours would start with a smaller show or take a week or two to get into the groove again.

“But there is no time for that, and also Liam and Noel want every night to be massive. This is such a huge comeback show, and they are taking it very seriously. It all points to it being an incredible comeback tour. “

Senate Moves To Amend Procurement, Local Content Laws

The Senate has taken a major step toward reforming the nation’s contracting system by mandating its Committee on procurement to liaise with the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) to amend both the Public Procurement Act and the Local Content Act.

The proposed amendments aim to open up contract opportunities to newly registered companies and indigenous contractors, as part of a broader push to promote local economic development and reduce over-dependence on foreign firms

The call for reform followed a motion sponsored by Senator Suleiman Umar Sadik (APC, Kwara North), who highlighted the marginalization of local contractors in projects valued below N50 million.

He pointed out that many such contracts are awarded to large, non-indigenous firms, undermining the capacity and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, which he described as the backbone of Nigeria’s economy.

During the deliberation, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and other lawmakers amplified the need for an amendment to the Act to eliminate loopholes that currently allow foreign contractors, particularly Chinese firms, to dominate government contracts.

Hamas studying new ceasefire proposals, calls for end to Gaza war

The Palestinian group Hamas says it is studying new proposals for a temporary ceasefire in Gaza, but insisted it is seeking an agreement that would bring an end to Israel’s war.

Hamas said in a statement on Wednesday that it had received proposals from the mediators and is holding talks with them to “bridge gaps” to return to the negotiating table and try to reach a ceasefire agreement.

The group said it was aiming for an agreement that would end the Gaza war and ensure the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the enclave.

The announcement comes a day after United States President Donald Trump said Israel had agreed to a proposal for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza and urged Hamas to accept the deal before conditions worsen. Trump has been increasing pressure on the Israeli government and Hamas to broker a ceasefire and an agreement for the group to release the Israeli captives held in Gaza.

Trump said the 60-day period would be used to work towards ending the war – something Israel says it will not accept until Hamas is defeated. Trump is due to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu next week.

But Hamas’s announcement, which emphasised its demand that the war end, raised questions about whether the latest offer could materialise into an actual pause in fighting.

Shortly after the Hamas statement, Netanyahu said “there will be no Hamas” in post-war Gaza.

Israeli officials have warned that the country’s military will escalate its operations in Gaza if ceasefire negotiations do not advance soon, according to the US-based Axios news outlet.

“We’ll do to Gaza City and the central camps what we did to Rafah. Everything will turn to dust,” the outlet quoted a senior Israeli official as saying. “It’s not our preferred option, but if there’s no movement towards a hostage deal, we won’t have any other choice. ”

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said any opportunity to free captives held in Gaza should not be missed, adding that there is a lot of support, both in the cabinet and within the public at large, for the US-backed proposal.

The proposal, though, has not been publicly backed by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.

Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud, reporting from Gaza City, said Palestinians mistrust Trump and have been disappointed several times by mooted ceasefires that have failed to materialise.

“There are headlines that are talking about a potential agreement and an end to the genocide, but what we’re seeing on the ground, the reality tells a different story. An average of 100 to 120 Palestinians are killed every single day,” he said.

“So for a lot of people, there is a lot of hypocrisy going on. If you talk about a ceasefire, then you need to create the conditions that would lead to a ceasefire, not an escalation, and what we are seeing on the ground is definitely an escalation. ”

Hospital director killed

In Gaza, Israeli forces killed at least 78 people on Wednesday, according to Palestinian health authorities. Hospital officials said four children and seven women were among the dead.

Among the victims was Dr Marwan al-Sultan, director of the Indonesian Hospital, who was killed in an Israeli strike on a residential building in an area southwest of Gaza City, according to our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic.

His wife and children were also killed in the attack.

Al-Sultan was a key source of information from Gaza, reporting on the conditions of Palestinians in the north of the besieged enclave. He had repeatedly called on the international community to press for medical teams’ safety, including when the Israeli army laid siege or struck the Indonesian Hospital, the largest medical facility north of Gaza City.

Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 56,647 people and wounded 134,105, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 attacks, and more than 200 were taken captive.

The war has left the coastal Palestinian territory in ruins, with much of the urban landscape flattened in the fighting. More than 90 percent of Gaza’s 2. 3 million population has been displaced, often multiple times. The war has caused a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, pushing hundreds of thousands of people to famine-like conditions.
