Myleene Klass shares daughter’s terrifying health ordeal after she ‘turned blue’

Myleene Klass has shared a terrifying moment when her daughter, Hero, almost choked to death after finding a small item that she couldn’t vocalise had got stuck in her throat

Myleene Klass has revealed she was left “hysterical” after a harrowing experience in which her daughter, Hero, turned blue and collapsed from choking. The 47-year-old star opened up on the We’re Not Getting Any Younger podcast about the chilling moment involving her child and a dayglo star.

The singer and TV presenter, originally of Hear’Say fame, is a mum of three. She shares daughters Ava and Hero with ex-husband Graham Quinn, and a son, Apollo, with her current partner Simon Motson.

This revelation comes amidst news that Myleene has become a certified first aider for St John Ambulance—a decision inspired by an earlier occasion in which she managed to prevent her daughters from choking.

Recounting the distressing event, Myleene said: “Well, it was Hero when she was a baby. She choked on those… you know those dayglo stars that you stick on the ceiling? I can’t have them in the house. “

When asked whether the star had fallen from the ceiling, Myleene clarified: “She found it. She couldn’t speak—she was so little. She couldn’t even… well, she couldn’t speak because she was choking, but she couldn’t even vocalise what had happened,” she told OK! .

Myleene went on to describe the terrifying moment of realisation, saying: “Because she stumbled in holding her like… she stumbled in. And she was so little, so she… she couldn’t even speak properly anyway, and her face just went blue and then she just fell on the floor. “

She recalled that she had been doing the washing up in the kitchen when the incident occurred. After greeting her daughter, she endured what she described as the “longest five minutes of my life. “

Myleene said: “I turned her upside down—she was that right age—and I had done first aid, but now I wanted to learn it to a more sort of professional level. “

She clarified that she didn’t mean “literally” upside down, but rather that Hero was small enough to be supported along her forearm. In that position, Myleene gave her a firm pat to dislodge the object.

She explained that the star didn’t come out immediately, but Hero eventually vomited it up and then casually “toddled off”, while Myleene was left in a state of hysteria.

The NHS advises that choking in children typically occurs during play or mealtimes, as young ones often explore the world by putting items in their mouths.

It emphasises that the best prevention is to keep small objects out of reach and to cut food into bite-sized pieces. However, despite precautions, a child may still choke.

The NHS provides a detailed guide on how to respond in such situations, including instructions for administering back blows, chest thrusts, and abdominal thrusts, as well as steps to take if a child becomes unconscious.

Sweltering Switzerland – how hot is Euro 2025 going to be?

EPA

Switzerland may be known for its snow-covered mountains, cosy chalets and world-class skiing, but the sun-scorched country is looking very different for Euro 2025.

As 16 teams prepare to begin their Euro 2025 campaigns, temperatures are soaring across the host nation.

With fears that the grass could burn, huge fans have been placed pitch-side to help keep the turf cool, while supporters have been advised to stay in the shade and keep hydrated.

How hot is it going to be?

BBC weather map for Switzerland

The Swiss authorities have issued amber heatwave warnings across the country until Thursday, with temperatures set to be about 10C above average for this time of year.

Temperatures could rise to highs of 35C, while there’s also the threat of thunderstorms causing heavy downpours towards the end of the week.

For the earlier kick-offs at 18:00 CET (17:00 BST), it is expected temperatures will be between 27 and 30C.

But it’s predicted to be cooler – between 24 and 27C – for the later 21:00 CET kick-offs.

The tournament begins on Wednesday as Iceland play Finland in Thun in the 17:00 BST game, with the temperature forecast to be 28C.

However, it’s expected to be 29C when hosts Switzerland face Norway in Basel later that evening.

What have the players said?

The weather conditions might be different to what the Wales and England players are used to, but Wales defender Gemma Evans says “it’s pointless using it as an excuse”.

Her team-mate Rachel Rowe agreed, adding: “It’s the same for everybody isn’t it?

“It’s been hot, but we’ve had our week in Portugal to prepare so I feel like we’re really on our way now to being able to perform in that weather. “

What is Uefa doing for the players and supporters?

Fans are used to cool pitch at St Jakob-Park in Basel

Uefa delegates will measure the temperature with a wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) thermometer at the end of the teams’ warm-ups.

Different from a normal thermometer, the WBGT thermometer accounts for temperature, humidity, wind speed, sun angle and cloud cover to determine the heat.

If the WBGT temperature exceeds 32C, cooling breaks – which can last between 90 seconds and three minutes – will be introduced for players during the match.

If the temperature is below those thresholds, the implementation of drinks breaks is at the discretion of the referee.

A heat warning has been issued by Uefa for all matches on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with fans allowed to bring a water bottle up to half a litre in size into the stadium on those days.

What is the forecast for England and Wales’ first games?

By the time Wales face the Netherlands in the opening Group D match on Saturday (17:00 BST), it is likely that the temperature will have dropped.

Wales’ first ever game at a major tournament will be played in Lucerne, where thundery showers and light winds are forecast, along with a highs of 30C.

Katy Perry fights tears on stage after Orlando Bloom split as ‘history repeats itself’

Katy Perry has been soldiering on with her world tour in the wake of her split from partner Orlando Bloom and was visibly emotional as she thanked fans for their support

A visibly moved Katy Perry struggled to hold back tears on stage as she expressed gratitude to her fans, in the wake of her split from Orlando Bloom.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 48, has been sharing cryptic posts on Instagram since their relationship reportedly ended, as fans of the I Kissed A Girl singer fear history is repeating itself.

Despite the emotional turmoil of her ongoing separation from Orlando, Katy – who shares daughter Daisy Dove, four, with the British actor, has been soldiering on with her world tour – just like she did when her marriage to English comic Russell Brand came to an end.

Katy and the former Big Brother’s Big Mouth presenter tied the knot in October, but it was all over by December 2011, with Brand later admitting that although he “loved [Katy] so much,” he ultimately couldn’t see their relationship working out.

It later transpired that Katy received a text from her former husband telling her that he was filing for divorce just moments before she went on stage. The heartbreaking moment the mum-of-one had to fight back the tears and plaster on a smile was caught on camera for her documentary ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me’.

Discussing her marriage split the following year, Katy told Vogue magazine: “I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011. “

Sadly, it looks like Katy has found herself in a similar situation as she navigates heartbreak whilst on the road once again. News broke last week that Katy and Orlando had called it quits after a nine-year romance after weeks of rumours and speculation.

While Orlando jetted off to attend Jeff Bezos’ wedding in Italy, Katy has stayed committed to her tour. She was seen getting teary-eyed as she wrapped up her final show in Australia.

Making a heart with her fingers, the Roar hitmaker’s voice started to crack as she fought back tears to tell the crowd: “Thank you Australia for always being there for me. “

Katy and Orlando have ridden a rollercoaster of a relationship since their initial spark in 2016. Their romance became Insta-official in May 2016 with Katy posting a quirky snap of the pair donning robes at the ritzy Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc during the Cannes Festival in France.

After romancing for just over a year, they hit a pause in early 2017 but mended fences by 2018 and were engaged by Valentine’s Day 2019, moving in together within the same year. The engagement ring features a ruby flanked by eight white diamonds arranged to resemble a flower.

Katy flaunted the shimmering engagement ring in a Valentine’s Day Instagram post confirming Orlando’s proposal, as reported by The Daily Mail. Progressing in their journey, they were overjoyed by the arrival of their daughter Daisy Dove in August 2020.

Spotted for the last time in public at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party this past March, warning signs appeared that the couple was not their usual exuberant selves, with newly surfaced photos capturing a sorrowful hint from Katy, who appeared ‘practically indistinguishable.

On Sunday, June 22, Orlando was seen in Australia with their four year old daughter while Katy had back-to-back shows at the RAC Arena on June 22 and Monday, June 23. Although the pair weren’t snapped together, it seemed Orlando and Daisy might have popped over to see Katy.

Earlier in the month, an informant whispered to Page Six that the couple’s romance was essentially “over” and they were biding time until her world tour wraps up in December to announce their split. Another source confided to PEOPLE that Katy’s latest album ‘143’, which dropped in September, “caused some tension” between them, with Katy feeling “stressed” and “deeply frustrated” by the lukewarm response to her musical offering.

A source opened up to Us Weekly, revealing that “Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable. It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life. ” They labelled the supposed break up ‘a long time coming’, and purported their rapport ‘has been tense for months. ‘.

Charities urge shutdown of US- and Israel-backed Gaza aid group

More than 130 humanitarian organisations, including Oxfam, Save the Children and Amnesty International, have demanded the immediate closure of the Israeli- and US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), accusing it of facilitating attacks on starving Palestinians.

In a joint statement released on Tuesday, the NGOs said Israeli forces and armed groups “routinely” open fire on civilians attempting to access food.

Since the GHF began operations in late May, more than 500 Palestinians have been killed while seeking aid, and nearly 4,000 wounded, the groups reported.

They condemned the aid mechanism as a violation of humanitarian norms, accusing it of funnelling Gaza’s 2. 2 million residents into overcrowded, militarised distribution zones, where they are exposed to near-daily gunfire.

“Palestinians in Gaza face an impossible choice: starve or risk being shot while trying desperately to reach food to feed their families,” the statement said. “Orphaned children and caregivers are among the dead, with children harmed in over half of the attacks on civilians at these sites. ”

Since its launch, the GHF has replaced more than 400 localised distribution points – which had functioned during a brief ceasefire – with only four centralised sites under Israeli military control: Three in Gaza’s southwest and one in the centre.

“Amidst severe hunger and famine-like conditions, many families tell us they are now too weak to compete for food rations,” the NGOs said, insisting that GHF “is not a humanitarian response”.

‘Israeli agenda’

Speaking to Al Jazeera from Gaza City, Palestinian civil society leader Amjad Shawa said the aid mechanism is not providing sufficient supplies for hungry families, and also pressures people to move towards southern Gaza.

“They are delivering tiny portions of food – a few energy bars, some oil, rice, and flour – barely enough to last two or three days,” he said. “This isn’t a proper meal. It risks deepening malnutrition in Gaza. ”

Shawa argued that positioning the GHF distribution points mainly in southern and eastern Gaza reflects a deliberate strategy to drive people out of the north, aligning with wider Israeli military objectives. “It’s a calculated effort to push Palestinians further south,” he said.

UN agencies and humanitarian leaders have repeatedly criticised the GHF model. Last week, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres labelled it “inherently unsafe”.

Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported on Friday that Israeli soldiers had been ordered to shoot at unarmed Palestinians near aid sites to disperse them.

Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Deir el-Balah, said there has been no letup in attacks on aid seekers, with the “Israeli military opening fire on hungry crowds trying to approach aid supplies from the GHF, killing at least 16” people on Tuesday. The aid seekers were among at least 44 people killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza on Tuesday, medical sources told Al Jazeera.

Ceasefire talks

The condemnation comes as Israeli officials, including Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, arrive in Washington, DC for renewed ceasefire talks. Mediator Qatar confirmed ongoing efforts to revive negotiations, but noted that progress was slow.

“There’s a momentum created by the Iran-Israel ceasefire,” said Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari, “but the main obstacle is that both parties are not returning to the table. ”

Israel’s military chief said last week that its ground operation was nearing its objectives, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed new opportunities had emerged to recover captives held by Palestinian groups – 20 of whom are believed to still be alive.

Meanwhile, senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan said on Monday that there had been no contact from Israel for weeks. “We are determined to seek a ceasefire that will save our people, and we are working with mediators to open the crossings,” he said.
