Bayern agree deal worth £65.5m with Liverpool for Diaz

Luis Diaz is set to join Bayern Munich after the German champions agreed a deal worth 75m euros (£65.5m) including add-ons with Liverpool.

Liverpool rejected an initial bid of £58.6m from Bayern for the Colombia forward earlier this month.

Diaz, 28, was left out of Liverpool’s squad for Saturday’s 4-2 pre-season friendly defeat by AC Milan in Hong Kong because of speculation surrounding his future.

He has been given permission by Liverpool to fly to Europe from Asia to complete a medical in the coming days.

Liverpool have signed forwards Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike already this summer and are interested in Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

Diaz arrived at Anfield from Porto in a deal worth an initial £37m in January 2022 and has scored 41 goals in 148 appearances, including 13 as the Reds won the Premier League title last season.

His 17 goals in all competitions in 2024-25 was the most prolific season of his career.

Bayern won their 34th Bundesliga title last season and scored a league-high 99 goals, but only made it to the last 16 of the German Cup and exited the Champions League in the quarter-finals.

Why Bayern want Diaz

It is easy to see why Diaz is an attractive prospect for Bayern.

Diaz’s shot conversion rate of 18.3% in 24-25 comfortably ranked as his best in a Premier League season.

Many of his other attributes stood out statistically too.

Diaz sat just outside the top 10 in the Premier League for most combined goals and assists (18), shots on target (30), chances created (56) and dribbles completed (52).

Taylor Swift’s new music video so secretive that ‘even crew couldn’t hear song’

Taylor Swift, a pop icon, may be ready to release new music, but allegedly kept it so secret that even the crew couldn’t hear it while making the video.

Taylor Swift is set to release new music for her adoring fans, but it’s so under wraps the star is said to have filmed a music video in secret. The private filming was reportedly so secretive that even the crew weren’t able to hear the full track.

The 35-year-old singer’s first new album will be the music, which she dropped after The Tortured Poets Department a year ago. And now it’s reported that the West Coast project has been completed.

A source claimed: “Taylor was in Los Angeles on Thursday filming a new music video.” They added the secrecy of the whole thing was evident.

Speaking to the Sun, they added: “It was so top secret that those working on set were not even allowed to hear the song, only the beat.

There are still projects she’s working on that will undoubtedly appeal to fans, despite the fact that she’s been taking time off from touring and working a lot with Travis.

And the speculation went down well with fans online going wild. Flocking to social media to let their feelings be heard, one Twitter/X user excitedly questioned: “OMGGG WE ARE GETTING THAT ALBUM BY AUGUST???????”

Another phrase followed, “Excited for this! I get hyped by Taylor’s ability to create anticipation in the beat-only shoot in LA despite the secrecy surrounding the shoot. The “queen of pop is back,” according to a third person, was unmistakably stated.

Earlier this month, Taylor sparked engagement rumours too after fans spotted her man’s phone’s lock screen. Travis Kelce’s device left Swifties convinced that she’s engaged to the NFL star. It comes after he shared huge selection of photos on his Instagram account.

One particular incident appeared to have marked a significant milestone in their relationship so far, one that caught the eye of enthralled fans. Taylor appears to be flaunting her ring finger in the photo.

It left fans speculating that the loved-up couple are engaged, though neither has made any official confirmation. The image showed the duo cosying up side by side, and the lock screen image shows Taylor Swift flaunting her ring finger.

One user wrote on the post, “Travis’s lockscreen: Is she pointing her hand like she is… engaged?” on social media.

Another questioned whether the lock screen was a wedding photo, while other enthralled fans pleaded with the audience to “try and see for sure.”

People are waiting in anticipation for the pair to declare an engagement with one source telling the Mail Online earlier this year that “everyone is just waiting for Travis to ask her (Taylor Swift’s) parents for her hand in marriage, her parents will say yes.”

Since 2023, they have been dating. In the years that followed, the couple spoke about their romance in a reasonable way. Taylor has also expressed her love to Travis while performing and collecting awards.

Ashton beats Sherrock to win Women’s World Matchplay

After Fallon Sherrock missed 11 darts in a pulsating final, Lisa Ashton triumphed in the Women’s World Matchplay in remarkable fashion.

At Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, Ashton, 54, won 6-5 in a final-leg decider.

However, “The Lancashire Rose” must have believed that Sherrock had lost sight of her potential when she finished 40 with Ashton still out of the finish line after leading 5-4.

Before Ashton found double 10, Sherrock forced a one-leg shootout after missing eight darts at double.

After Ashton made a stunning 180-degree turn in the final leg, Sherrock responded with a brilliant 165 to make 36.

The 31-year-old, who became the first woman to win a match at the PDC World Championship in December 2019, was once more unable to win it.

“I’m so, so happy. Ashton told Sky Sports, “I finally arrived there.

“My heart was going ten to ten, but I just sat there indifferently because I believed I had to take my chances because Fallon was missing, which I did, and I did.”

In the Lakeside BDO world finals in 2015, Ashton defeated Englishwoman Sherrock.

After defeating Ireland’s Robyn Byrne in the quarter-finals, Ashton defeated defending champion Beau Greaves 5-3 in the semi-finals.

Greaves dropped 36 in nine darts before missing eight at double before Ashton unexpectedly won a 3-1 lead with a knockout on the fourth leg.

With Ashton at 50% on the outer ring, Greaves, who had been competing for a third consecutive Matchplay title, only managed three of his 19 attempts.

Before the final, Sherrock had to face defeat in match darts in both her quarter-final and semi-final.

After a wild final leg, she defeated second seed Noa-Lynn van Leuven 5-4 to move up over Gemma Hayter 4-3 in the final eight.

Both players ended up on double one after Sherrock and Van Leuven missed five match darts, with the latter eventually making it to the final.
