Real Madrid Oust Juventus As Dortmund Reach Club World Cup Quarters

Real Madrid, a giant of Spain, defeated Juventus 1-0 on Tuesday to set up a Club World Cup quarter-final match against Borussia Dortmund, who defeated Monterrey to defeat them.

Sergio Ramos’ side defeated their German side 2-1 in a close last-16 match in Atlanta, giving the former Real Madrid skipper a chance to face his former team.

At the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami earlier, youngster Gonzalo Garcia scored his third goal of the season to give Madrid a 1-0 lead.

Real Madrid wins the Club World Cup Quarter-Finals, and Gonzalo leads them past Juventus.

Under the new coach, Xabi Alonso’s Madrid side put together an impressive display, and Kylian Mbappe’s return from illness as a substitute increased that performance.

The second half produced a lot of chances, but their goalkeeper was really good, according to Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois.

With Igor Tudor’s Juventus beginning strong but Real’s came out on top, the first half was a finely balanced contest.

After 54 minutes, Los Blancos found themselves on the end of the tunnel when Trent Alexander-Arnold crossed for Gonzalo.

Alonso made the decision to introduce Mbappe to the 62, 149 crowd, but Juve pressed for an equaliser with no clear openings.

The coach of Madrid both applauded the team’s performance, including that of Gonzalo, who had been compared to the then-great Raul, and also suggested that Mbappe might be ready for a bigger role in the upcoming game.

Alonso said, “We will keep watching him… I think he will do a lot better quarters.”

Alonso continued, “I’m happy Real produced the necessary grit to grind out the result in the second half.”

The coach remarked, “We had to be patient, we had to mature into the game.”

You are aware that you must grit your teeth and carry out your obligations, just like the players and I are. And ultimately, we had to hold on a little bit, which I’m happy about.

Tudor, the head of Juve, claimed that as the game progressed, his team felt worn out.

“Two of them asked to be substituted in the end. You can’t do that, he said, explaining his reasons, but there was an exorbitant drowsiness.

According to Tudor, “the heat and humidity are what burns energy, but there is the tension of the game as well,” adding that they were approaching the end of a long season.

Ramos and Dortmund disagree,

Dortmund defeated Monterrey in a close encounter in Atlanta thanks to Guirassy’s brace, setting them up to face a Madrid side that defeated them in the 2024 Champions League final.

Dortmund coach Niko Kovac stated to the media, “Real has a great team, they have many good individual players.”

“I believe we will have a good chance of succeeding if we put everything on the pitch and perform it today.”

The Mexican side came close to scoring when a late Ramos header was just wide, but Guirassy doubled in the first half, but German Berterame curled one back for the Mexicans.

Guirassy told broadcaster DAZN, “I think I could have at least three goals, but I’m happy to have helped the team win.”

After struggling through several games in the blazing afternoon sun in the group stage, Dortmund were relieved to be at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and set a faster pace there.

Guirassy scored both of his goals as the Guinea international reached 37 for the season in all competitions.

Jobe Bellingham will be suspended for the game against his brother Jude’s Real Madrid side due to a booking.

However, after Monterrey opened the scoring in the second half, goalkeeper Gregor Kobel made several good save saves to keep Dortmund at bay.

Ramos attempted to liven up his penchant for late, decisive moments, like in Madrid’s 2014 Champions League triumph, by sending a header agonisingly wide in stoppage time.

Ramos, a proud supporter of his side’s efforts, told DAZN, “The crowd, our fans, and the people who understand football, they saw that the team gave everything.”

What is the partial verdict in the Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs trial?

The jury in the Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking criminal trial has returned a verdict on four of the five charges the music mogul faces, the judge overseeing his case said on Tuesday.

Judge Arun Subramanian reasoned that, following two days of deliberations, it was too soon to give up on reaching a verdict on all five counts. Subramanian told the jury to continue weighing the last remaining charge.

Deliberations continue on Wednesday.

If convicted of sex trafficking or racketeering, the former billionaire – known for elevating hip-hop in United States culture – could face life in prison. Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty to all five charges against him.

What is a partial verdict?

In the US criminal justice system, a partial verdict occurs when a jury reaches a unanimous decision on some, but not all, of the charges against a defendant.

This typically happens in cases involving multiple counts, where the jury agrees on a verdict for certain charges but remains deadlocked on others.

Partial verdicts help ensure that the judicial process is not delayed indefinitely owing to a lack of consensus on every count.

Combs’s partial verdict comes after a seven-week trial in which two of the music mogul’s former girlfriends testified that he physically and sexually abused them.

His lawyers acknowledged that the Bad Boy Records founder, once famed for hosting lavish parties, was at times violent in his domestic relationships.

But they said the sexual activity described by prosecutors was consensual.

The 12-member jury began deliberating on Monday following closing arguments, which concluded last week.

Which charge against Diddy is the jury still undecided about?

The jury has been unable to reach a verdict on a charge of racketeering conspiracy, because there were “unpersuadable opinions on both sides”, they said.

Racketeering carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Judge Subramanian instructed the jury to continue deliberating on the racketeering conspiracy count. The jury will resume deliberations at 9am EDT (13:00 GMT) on Wednesday.

What are the other charges against Diddy?

After two days of deliberations, the jury did reach a verdict on four other charges: two counts of sex trafficking and two of transportation to engage in prostitution.

A conviction for sex trafficking carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Transportation to engage in prostitution, which involves arranging to fly sex workers across state lines, carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

Earlier on Tuesday, the jury asked to review portions of the testimony by the rhythm and blues singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, who testified that Combs had forced her to take part in “freak-offs” throughout their decade-long relationship, which amounted to sex trafficking.

The testimony the jury asked to review related to a 2016 incident at an InterContinental hotel in Los Angeles, when a surveillance camera captured footage of Combs kicking and dragging Ventura in a hallway.

Prosecutors said that at the time of the incident, Ventura was attempting to leave a “freak-off” – Combs’s term for a drug-fuelled sex marathon in which he would watch Ventura have sex with a paid male escort while he masturbated and sometimes filmed.

Prosecutors argued that this conduct amounted to sex trafficking because Combs used force and threats to cut off financial support or release sex tapes of Ventura to coerce her to take part in the performances, and because the escorts were paid.

Another former girlfriend “Jane”, who testified under a pseudonym to protect her identity, also claimed that Combs forced her into drug-fuelled sex sessions with male sex workers.

What is racketeering?

Racketeering – the charge against Diddy on which the jury is undecided – involves a set of illegal activities in which an individual commits at least two related crimes within 10 years as part of a larger criminal enterprise.

The law is designed to target not just isolated crimes but the broader structures behind them, such as gangs or corrupt businesses.

Racketeering charges are used to dismantle criminal organisations by linking individuals to coordinated and systemic illegal conduct.

Prosecutors allege that for more than two decades, Combs led a criminal enterprise – abetted by his associates and employees – which worked to cover up a range of crimes including sex trafficking, forced labour, drug distribution, bribery and obstruction of justice.

What will happen next in the trial?

The judge has ordered the jury to continue its closed-door discussions for a third day after the panel of eight men and four women said on Tuesday that it was unable to reach a consensus on the count of racketeering.

Judge Subramanian urged the jurors to keep trying to come to a unanimous decision. The jury may potentially continue deliberating on July 3, when the court is normally closed ahead of the July 4 public holiday.

To gain a conviction on the racketeering charge, prosecutors need to prove that Combs established a criminal enterprise, or a coordinated plan between the musician and at least one other person. That may prove difficult.

For their part, the prosecution urged the judge to use an Allen charge, more colloquially known as a “dynamite charge”, which is a set of instructions given to a hung jury to press its members to reach a unanimous decision.

Allen charges are controversial, as some believe they can put undue pressure on juries, forcing them to change their stances or cave to peer pressure.

How has Diddy reacted to the partial verdict?

The rapper chose not to testify during the trial. Instead, his lawyers built their arguments through lengthy cross-examinations of the witnesses called by the prosecution.

But after the jury delivered its partial verdict on Tuesday and then exited the room, a subdued Combs sat in his chair for a few minutes.

As he stood to leave, he faced his relatives and supporters in the audience, blew a kiss and tapped his heart, as he frequently has done at the start and end of each day.

Then he paused before his mother and exchanged a few words, telling her, “Love you” and “I’ll be alright”.

Marshals then led him from the room.

What are the possible outcomes for Diddy if he is found guilty of all charges?

These are the possible penal outcomes if Combs is found guilty:

  • Count 1: Racketeering conspiracy – up to life in prison.
  • Count 2: Sex-trafficking of Cassie Ventura – a minimum of 15 years and maximum of life in prison.
  • Count 3: Transporting individuals including but not limited to Cassie Ventura to engage in prostitution – a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
  • Count 4: Sex-trafficking of “Jane” – a minimum of 15 years and maximum of life in prison.
  • Count 5: Transporting individuals including but not limited to Jane to engage in prostitution – a maximum of 10 years in prison.

‘Excited for more trophies’ – Kelly signs for Arsenal

Chloe Kelly, an England international, states that she is “excited for more silverware” since making a permanent Arsenal signing.

After joining Manchester City on loan on a loan at the end of January, Kelly, 27, helped the Gunners defeat Barcelona in the Champions League final in May.

Following the termination of her City contract, the former Everton player who was a member of the Lionesses squad at Euro 2025 has left the Gunners.

“I’ve always said Arsenal supporters are the best, and having them sing my name on my side means a lot to me,” Kelly said.

“I’m looking forward to receiving more silverware from this exceptional club and bringing backtrophies to North London to celebrate with our supporters.”

Renee Slegers, the manager at Arsenal, claimed Kelly had made a “great impact” while on loan last year.

She contributed significantly to what we accomplished last season, and I’m confident that she will inspire us to improve.

“All stories ought to have happy endings,” he said.

Throughout January, Kelly’s intentions to leave Manchester City were well known, but the England international’s decision to do so led to an increasingly toxic relationship with the club.

The London-born player, who signed for City in 2020, previously stated on Instagram that she wanted to “be happy again” and did not anticipate leaving after the summer.

After being limited to just one Women’s Super League start for City in 2024-2019, she also feared for her place in the England squad.

Kelly claimed City were “dictating” who she could or could not join, and her departure was not smooth.

She eventually made a comeback with Arsenal, helping them to a remarkable victory over Barcelona in Lisbon.

Kelly said in a farewell message to Manchester City that “I want to take this opportunity to thank the City for my contributions.”

The fans’ unwavering support, as well as the friendships they established with the girls and other support personnel. I’ll be forever grateful to those who helped shape me into who I am today.

“Learnings and memories created. It’s time to look to the future, because all stories should have happy endings. To all, love.

‘I was conned out of hundreds by ‘Jennifer Aniston’ – she told me she loved me’

A fraudster pretending to be Friends star, Jennifer Aniston, reportedly scammed a man out of £200 after claiming she desperately needed the cash for ‘ Apple subscriptions ‘

A heartbroken Friends fan claims he was cruelly scammed out of £200 by a fraudster pretending to be Jennifer Aniston. Paul Davies from Southampton, says he thought he was chatting to the Rachel Green legend on social media before ‘Jennifer’ asked to him to hand over the cash so she could pay for her “Apple subscriptions”.

Paul says he was targeted by a flurry of AI scammers pretending to be Hollywood stars in a worrying new wave of deepfake fraud. The Brit, 43, revealed how he was swamped by swathes of very convincing clips – he thought were from celebrities – including Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. However, when ‘ Jen ‘ sent him her driving licence as proof of her identity, he says he fell for it, not least because she told him she ‘ loved him’.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: “I’ve had fake videos from Jennifer Aniston saying she loves me and asking for £200. I believed it – and I paid.”

The savage scam saw him send £200 worth of non-refundable Apple gift cards to the alleged American sweetheart as Paul admitted: “I got bitten”. Once bitten, twice shy. “

During their exchange on social media, ‘ Jennifer ‘ sent a slew of sweet messages to Paul while also warning him not to contact Facebook because” you don’t want problems”.

The cruel con is sadly part of a worrying wave of deepfake, AI generated videos, which often forge someone’s face, voice or entire likeness.

Paul claims he’s been hounded by droves of deepfake videos, often promising he’s won a huge prize, endorsed by a fake celebrity.

One video even showed a fake Zuckerberg declaring:” This is not a scam – believe me “while flashing a phoney ID.

” They make it look so real, “Paul said”. It’s been going on for five months. I anticipated that someone would face punishment for this, but they seem to be having a good laugh and getting away with it.

Paul says he’s sharing his story to protect others, despite acknowledging that the scam has had a significant impact on his mental health.

It comes after another unsuspecting Facebook user fell foul of a scammer pretending to be Brad Pitt.

Despite actually residing in Nigeria and never standing in front of the camera, they conned a French woman out of nearly $700,000 by pretending to be the Fight Club star.

After receiving AI-generated selfies and love messages, interior designer Anne, 53, was tricked into funding a fake cancer treatment for the so-called “star.”

Anne lost her marriage, health, and fortune in the sham romance, which lasted for more than a year.

Eventually, a crack team discovered the scammer’s identity, his Nigerian residence, and, regrettably, 34 other victims.
