Peter Kay is ready to take on a new challenge as he has revealed his new project away from his mammoth tour. The comedian, 51, recently returned to the spotlight and has been performing his act in arenas up and down the country.

Earlier this year, Peter hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons as he was filmed kicking a heckler out of his show. He halted his performance and had security remove a number of fans after claiming they were spoiling the show for the rest of the attendees.

However, after he labelled one ejected fan “Lisa Riley” and the remark caused a scandal, with the heckler claiming Peter was a “bully”. Now, it seems Peter is ready to turn the page on the drama as he sets his sights on a very different career.

Peter has revealed he has put pen to paper and promises to detail his life in his most personal book yet. In true Peter style, the book hilariously nods to Bridget Jones’ Diary, as the comedian’s face sits on top of the iconic character.

Announcing the news, he said: “Introducing… Peter Kay’s Diary: The Monthly Memoir of a Boy from Bolton, Peter’s most personal and hilarious book yet. Join Peter for a laugh-out-loud journey through his life, month by month.”

A teaser for the book added: “Think of this autobiography as a twelve-month subscription to my memories and meanderings across the calendar year. With each month reflecting a different phase of my life, complete with dodgy decisions, bizarre plot twists and more than a few laugh-out-loud moments.”

Back in February, Peter dealt with hecklers at his Better Late Than Never… Again! gig at Manchester’s AO Arena – but things didn’t quite go as he’d planned. While he said it wasn’t an insult, and Lisa herself acknowledged there was no ill-meaning, the woman in question fumed that the star had humiliated her.

“Go on, off you go, Lisa Riley,” Peter had jibed, making a comparison to the former Emmerdale actress. Shortly after his remark on his decision to eject the fan in Manchester, Peter opened up on the incident on Good Morning Britain.

“I didn’t realise it was an insult,” he said. “She did look remarkably like Lisa Riley, I didn’t realise that was an insult.” But despite his insistence there was no dig meant, the woman in question revealed she was mortified.

Myar Curran accused the star of being a “bully”. Speaking herself on the ITV show, Myar said: “I didn’t mean to cause any harm, I was just showing my love as he kicked someone out, but he obviously didn’t like it.”

She added: “I feel like what I said was not abusive or aggressive – it wasn’t anti-social and I wasn’t drunk. I was just standing u,p chanting ‘we love you Peter, we do’. It’s just been a bit over the top, his reaction.”

A month later, Peter threatened to kick even more audience members out of his show at London’s O2 Arena. Brushing off the previous backlash, he poked fun at the criticism he faced as he once again halted his show to make an example of one of his fans.

Addressing the crowds, he asked: “Is it them in that box? Is that them? Who is it? Eh, it’s you monkeys there. Now then, what are we going to do with you now? These people in this area now, do any of you look like Lisa Riley? No, alright,” he joked as the crowd erupted into laughter.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, an audience member said: “Peter waded in as the crowd was audibly kicking off due to some disagreement in the crowd. He poked fun at the idea of kicking them out, then dished out the issue to his security.

“But he did reference it again twice in the show as they kept shouting, comparing it to a ‘boot sale’ at one point. It seemed like the audience in the area wanted him to kick the person out due to all the drama.”

Man City’s Grealish and Chelsea quartet miss out on Club World Cup

PA Media

Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix, Axel Disasi and Ben Chilwell have been left out of Chelsea’s squad for the Fifa Club World Cup, while Jack Grealish has not been selected by Manchester City.

England forward Grealish was expected to miss out, with the 29-year-old having started just seven league games in 2024-25.

City’s 27-man squad also does not include former captain Kyle Walker, who spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan, but features England defender John Stones, who has not played since February with a thigh injury.

Chelsea’s 28-man group does not feature a quartet which cost them about £179m in transfer fees and all ended last season out on loan.

The first edition of the expanded Club World Cup format begins in the United States on Sunday, 15 June (01:00 BST).

Sterling cost £50m when he arrived from Manchester City in 2022, but the 30-year-old England forward spent last season on loan with Arsenal, starting just 13 games and scoring once.

The Blues paid £38.5m to sign Axel Disasi from Monaco in 2023 and the 27-year-old France defender played 17 games last term before ending the season on loan with Aston Villa.

Chilwell was a £45m signing in 2020 and, after just one Chelsea game last term, the England left-back, 28, spent the rest of the season with Crystal Palace, being an unused substitute in the Eagles’ FA Cup final win over Manchester City.

Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad

Goalkeepers: Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, Mike Penders, Gaga Slonina.

Defenders: Marc Cucurella, Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile, Levi Colwill, Mamadou Sarr, Moises Caicedo, Trevoh Chalobah, Reece James, Malo Gusto, Aaron Anselmino, Josh Acheampong.

Midfielders: Pedro Neto, Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, Dario Essugo, Andrey Santos, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Romeo Lavia.

Grealish’s future is unclear as he has struggled for regular playing time with Manchester City over the past two seasons.

Pep Guardiola’s side have also signed midfielders Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki this week, along with left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri and keeper Marcus Bettinelli, and all will travel to America.

Stones, 31, will return to action despite missing international duty with England over the weekend, and Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, 28, will continue his comeback from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in September.

Man City’s Club World Cup squad

Goalkeepers: Ederson, Stefan Ortega, Marcus Bettinelli.

Defenders: Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Vitor Reis, Josko Gvardiol, Manuel Akanji, Abdukodir Khusanov, Rico Lewis.

Midfielders: Tijjani Reijnders, Jeremy Doku, Nico Gonzalez, Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, Savinho, Matheus Nunes, Rayan Cherki, Phil Foden, Nico O’Reilly.

Kate Middleton’s secret pep talk with ‘disappointed’ Louis during major royal event

In years past, Prince Louis has stolen the show during rare appearances on the Buckingham Palace balcony. In 2023, the young prince delighted in impersonating the RAF flypast, earning him a serious talk from his parents

With Trooping the Colour right around the corner, royal fans around the world are eager to catch a glimpse of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in what is one of their few royal appearances each year. Despite the celebrations being for the King’s birthday, the children have often stolen the show in the past years, with Prince Louis becoming a fan favourite for his cheeky demeanour and animated expressions.

In 2023, Prince Louis’ antics won him a stern pep talk from both his parents, as the unimpressed young royal waited – relatively impatiently – for the RAF flypast to begin.

While standing on the Buckingham Palace balcony with his siblings, a bored looking Prince Louis, who was five years old at the time, looked bored and disappointed with the Trooping celebrations, but his mood quickly changed once the Red Arrows began their performance.

According to a lip reader, a video shows Prince William saying to Louis: “They work in twos.” Louis’ body language is unimpressed as he responds with a let-down “Oh”, before Kate, in an attempt to reason with her young son, said: “Hey, it’s alright, listen,” while William explained that the aircraft “may need to manoeuvre”.

Louis’ frown quickly changed and his mood picked up, as he started imitating the planes and delighted the crowd with a salute of his own. According to body language expert Judi James, Louis was excited for the Red Arrows, impatiently punching his fists together as he waited for them to arrive.

It wasn’t the only time that Louis stole the show while on the Palace balcony, as the 2022 Trooping the Colour saw the youngster win the hearts of the nation as he pulled faces and looked wildly excited for the flypast.

Standing next to the late Queen at what would be her final Trooping, Louis then aged four, was seen exchanging words with his late great-grandmother as they awaited the planes and helicopters to fly overhead.

A lipreader told the Mirror what the pair appeared to be talking about, with Louis eager to know one thing. According to Jeremy Freeman, an expert in lipreading, Louis asked, “Are the Red Arrows coming?” To which the Queen very dryly replied, “I hope so.”

When the Red Arrows did show up and painted the sky red, white, and blue, Louis’ excitement seemed to peak. Mr Freeman said the youngster exclaimed: “Yes, yes, yes.” He also added that the Queen then said: “There it is,” before Louis added: “Oh, Red Arrows—whoah.”

Mr Freeman also picked up on another exchange between the royals when young Louis was seen covering his ears as planes roared over Buckingham Palace in the shape of the number 70 – the number of years in the Queen’s reign. He says that on seeing this, the Queen said: “Ohh fun” with Kate saying “amazing” and Charlotte adding “Wow”.

As Louis covered his ears, Mr Freeman says he said: “Whoah – that was loud”, while a proud Kate said to Prince William “look at him” – about their young son.

Sudan’s paramilitary RSF say they seized key zone bordering Egypt, Libya

Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have said their fighters have seized a strategic zone on the border with Egypt and Libya, as the regular government-aligned army, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), announced its withdrawal from the area.

The announcements on Wednesday came a day after SAF accused forces loyal to eastern Libyan commander Khalifa Haftar of launching a cross-border attack alongside the RSF, the first allegation of direct Libyan involvement in the Sudanese war.

“As part of its defensive arrangements to repel aggression, our forces today evacuated the triangle area overlooking the borders between Sudan, Egypt and Libya,” army spokesperson Nabil Abdallah said in a statement.

Since April 2023, the brutal civil war has pitted SAF chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan against his erstwhile ally Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, who leads the RSF, in a bitter power struggle.

In a statement on Wednesday, the RSF said its fighters had “liberated the strategic triangle area”, adding that army forces had retreated southward “after suffering heavy losses”.

SAF said on Tuesday that Haftar’s troops, in coordination with the RSF, attacked its border positions in a move it called “a blatant aggression against Sudan”.

Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also accused the United Arab Emirates of backing the assault, describing it as a “dangerous escalation” and a “flagrant violation of international law”.

It also described the latest clash as part of a broader foreign-backed conspiracy.

Haftar, who controls eastern Libya, has long maintained close ties with both the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.

While Cairo has supported Sudan’s leadership under Burhan since the war began in April 2023, Khartoum has repeatedly accused the UAE of supplying the RSF with weapons, which the Emirati government has denied.

Tensions between Khartoum and Abu Dhabi escalated in May after drone strikes hit the wartime capital of Port Sudan for the first time since the outbreak of the war.

After the attacks, Sudan severed its diplomatic ties with the UAE and declared it an “aggressor state”.

Since the war began more than two years ago, multiple countries have been drawn in. It has effectively split Sudan in two, with SAF holding the centre, east and north, including the capital Khartoum, while the paramilitaries and their allies control nearly all of Darfur and parts of the south.

The fighting has killed tens of thousands and displaced 13 million, including four million who fled abroad, triggering what the United Nations has called the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
