Pollock lives up to the hype – but is he ready for Test duty?

Henry Pollock should start for the British and Irish Lions in their first Test against Australia in the morning after the night before, which is a simple “take.”

The 20-year-old Northampton Saints star’s 54-7 victory over Western Force was undoubtedly an eye-catching performance that the Australian media was watching.

Pollock “produced a series of tackle-busting runs” according to the state broadcaster, ABC News.

Lions wonder kid, playmaker put Wallabies on notice, the Australian’s headline read.

In the candy store, Pollock looked like a kid as he began his first Lions game.

He occasionally gorged on Western Force while smiling on his face. Tomos Williams scored a first-half try thanks to his pace and lung-busting break, which was then matched by a sublime offload to the Welsh scrum-half.

The audacious chip over the top was followed by a chase and gather before he was forced to leave the ball at the ground. Joe McCarthy scored a try as a result of the move.

Lions captain Dan Sheehan praised him for being brilliant today.

He acts on his own, he says. He plays his own game. He’s probably unique compared to many of the backers.

Off the cuff, see what’s in front of you, and make it happen, I enjoy that rugby. And he can certainly make it happen with his speed and skills.

It’s just about making sure he always does what the team needs to do.

He will continue to advance. He and everyone else will benefit greatly from all these big games because of the experience. From here, he will only get better and better.

Pollock received praise from his peers as well.

Only 30 minutes of Premiership rugby was played by Pollock at the start of the season.

He is now in danger of losing the Lions’ Test.

Perhaps the Lions’ youngest visitor’s lack of fear makes him successful because he plays with it without fear, but that should not be confused with his unparalleled rugby awareness and ability to play rugby.

How then could Lions coach Andy Farrell choose him to play in Brisbane’s first Test?

Pollock’s consistent performance may still cause concern.

He was well-known after watching his impressive performance against Leinster in the Champions Cup semi-final.

However, he was not as influential as he was when Bordeaux, in the final, were able to exploit some of his weaknesses.

Then there is maintaining his discipline, which Australians might be able to exploit.

After Elliot Daly’s first try, Pollock, who enjoys a flamboyant celebration, sparked a melee between the two teams.

Although you could argue bonus points to Pollock for eliciting that reaction, it is not just Australian cricketers who are renowned for their “sledging.” Force flanker Nick Champion de Crespigny took exception.

If Pollock were to play in the Tests in the biggest arena, Pollock would need to stay composed.

After Lions infractions, referee Ben O’Keeffe became indignant for reaching over a ruck.

You saw Henry’s point of difference, Farrell said, “You also saw his point of difference because of repeated infringements, which was fair enough, but you also saw his point of difference.”

Farrell appears to have no issues with Pollock, but does he trust him enough to maintain his discipline in a Test match’s cauldron?

It will continue to make headlines over the next three weeks because it is a contentious subject.

Bonmati discharged from hospital after meningitis

Bonmati, Aitana

Spain midfielder Bonmati, Aitana has been discharged from hospital after being treated for viral meningitis days before the start of Euro 2025.

The 27-year-old, who has won the Ballon d’Or twice in the past two years, was unable to make Friday’s 3-1 friendly match against Japan in Leganes, Spain.

She was taken to a hospital in Madrid on Friday but did not train on Thursday.

Spain play Portugal in their opening Group B game on Thursday in Bern, and Euro 2025 in Switzerland kicks off on Wednesday.

Two-time Fifa women’s player of the year Bonmati wrote on Instagram, “Thanks to everyone for the messages I’ve received and for those who have helped me these past few days.

“Fortunately, everything is going well,” she said. I’m hoping to return soon.

Bonmati was a key player in the Spain team that won the 2023 World Cup and the Nations League last year and has 30 goals in 78 games.

Coach Montse Tome of Spain said: “She is a very important player for us. We’ll be able to wait as long as we can.

Meningitis affects the protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord, and if not treated quickly, it can be serious.

‘I was stuck in Glastonbury mosh pit with death chants and fake blood – it was a cess-pit’

After two hours of mayhem, I only noticed what appeared to be blood when I shuffled away from the West Holts stage in a crowd of people.

In the sweltering afternoon sun, it was smeared on people’s hair, clothing, and across acres of uncut flesh.

I had no idea what I was told was a fire extinguisher filled with red-paint going off in the chaos of Bob Vylan’s and Kneecap’s controversy-filled sets.

Anyone’s guess as to how this was brought into Glastonbury through security.

A stunt like this, which is typically associated with Palestine Action, even though it’s unknown if they were behind it, would have grabbed all the attention.

Even this was overshadowed by the extraordinary scenes that followed, such as the chants from Vylan’s “Death, death to the IDF” on the set.

(AFP via Getty Images) One of the British duos, Bob Vylan, leaped into the audience.

I ought to be aware. because I was the action’s focal point.

That snarling cesspit of hate turned into a little Worthy Farm over the course of two and a half hours.

Specifically, toward Israel, the BBC, and Sir Keir Starmer.

Although I was only partially anticipating that the audience would be predominately young, I was quickly positioned just a few meters away from the stage and saw people of all ages.

An elderly woman next to me is draped in Palestinian flags, while a man in his 60s wears a Free Mo Chara T-shirt.

I’m assuming they arrived early rather than Kneecap, which secured a good spot.

Festival goers were splattered with fake blood

Glastonbury’s managers had earlier warned them that overcrowding might force them to omit access to the West Holts area.

But it became clear right away when Bob Vylan’s set was about to begin that the agitated audience was looking for.

However, the main course could have been given the level of disagreement.

Should political topics be avoided at music festivals? Take our poll below, and if you can’t see it, click here.

We are on the BBC live, so we must be careful with what we say, Vylan said.

However, he started a spine-tingling chant calling for the assassination of the Israeli Defense Force by being prudent.

As the elderly woman chants along, her face becomes contorted with rage.

Things escalated after the menacing chants
After the ominous chants (AFP via Getty Images), things got worse.

Then Vylan launches into a rant criticizing former “bald headed c***” of a boss who wrote to Glastonbury bosses calling for Kneecap to be banned.

The crowd yells “Name him, name him” in a threatening tone.

If Glastonbury wanted to rouse the audience before Kneecap, scheduling Vylan for the opening act did just that.

The atmosphere was already supercharged by the time the Irish band arrived and looked out at the sea of Palestinian flags.

The situation quickly escalated.

Kneecap performed after Bob Vylan
Following Bob Vylan (WireImage), a kneecap was performed.

Moglai Bap urged fans to “start a riot outside the courts” in response to Chara’s upcoming court date and his bandmate.

Perhaps someone who was not on stage was speaking to him right away during the hurried u-turn.

He reacted, saying, “No riots, just love and support for Palestine.”

The Prime Minister, who had demanded that Michael Eavis stop playing the band, was the target of five foul-mouthed chants.

Given its ties to the party, hearing a large portion of the 30, 000-person crowd berating a Labour official was a Glastonbury first.

Chara referred to the former leader’s very different reception here in 2017, saying, “You’re just a s*** Jeremy Corbyn.”

The audience was sipping it up. Something in the distance of me was constantly emitted flames, as was the fire extinguisher.

Kneecap’s set will be made available on iplayer, but the BBC has pledged to do so in accordance with editorial guidelines.

They’ll do a great job, I promise.

Calvert-Lewin to leave Everton as free agent

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, a striker for Everton, claims to have made the “incredibly difficult decision” to leave.

The England international’s 28-year contract expires on Monday.

Calvert-Lewin signed for Everton from Sheffield United for £1.5 million in 2016 and has since scored 71 goals in 273 games.

After nine remarkable years, I and my family have to make the difficult decision to launch a new career chapter, Calvert-Lewin wrote on Instagram.

“I didn’t take it lightly,” I said. Since I was 19 years old, my home has been in Eden. It was the place where I realized potential, challenged me to develop, and transformed both my character and football.

Calvert-Lewin made the England squad that reached the Euros final that summer, scoring 16 goals in 33 Premier League games during his best season in 2020-2020.

He struggled with injuries and form the following year, and only started 26 of his matches last season.

Since 2021, he has only added four goals and 11 caps for England.

Calvert-Lewin continued, “We spent a long time considering the decision to move on; it was not just about me. It was about my family.”

We think it’s appropriate to seek out new challenges and grow, but that doesn’t diminish the friendship I’ll always have with Everton.

I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve shared, fighting for this club when it matters most, scoring goals in crucial situations, and displaying pride and commitment on the shirt.

“I’m hoping I leave with your respect knowing how much I have always fought to uphold the standards of this great club.”

He claimed that Everton’s final three seasons had been the “most difficult” in Premier League history but that he had “led the line” through it in an interview with BBC Sport last month.

Sydney Sweeney’s floaty playsuit nails Italian summer style at Jeff Bezos wedding

We discovered a £30 lookalike for her £2.8k Chloe playsuit because she was the epitome of Italian summer style when she attended Jeff Bezos’ wedding.

This weekend all anyone can talk about is the wedding of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his new wife Lauren Sanchez. The pair tied the knot in Venice with a guest list that rivals the Met Gala red carpet, which means we’ve gotten plenty of serious fashion inspiration – and envy – on how to do summer occasionwear right.

However, the guests were photographed in Venice between wedding ceremonies, including Sydney Sweeney, who masterfully dressed for the heat. Sydney, who wearing a £2855 V-Neck jumpsuit in Silk Georgette from Chloe, is ideal for the hot summer days. We also found a fantastic alternative for only £30.

You need only the Glastonbury mini dress from Holly Willoughby this year, not the full set of the festival.

The perfect combination of floaty, sexy, and sophisticated, Sydney’s black playsuit exudes the kind of glamour Italy is known for, making it such a hit. This ASOS DESIGN Double Cloth Gathered Bust Playsuit is a fantastic alternative if you don’t want to spend a lot on her expensive pieces.

The playsuit, which has a fitted waist, loose-fitting A-line shorts, and a sleeveless bodice, is priced at £30 and resembles Sydney’s Chloe jumpsuit in its breezy, laid-back silhouette. Additionally, it has a plunging V-neckline, which allows you to adjust the tie’s placement to be as loose or tight as you like while maintaining your modesty.

You could also add your own chiffon scarf to recreate the look, but the tie front also gives the impression that it has a neck scarf that resembles Sydney’s. This For the Moment Mini from Free People is the best option if you want something that has a little more coverage and is wearable year-round.

It has a v-neckline and smocked waist to give it a flattering silhouette, and long, billowy, long sleeves that gather at the wrist to create volume. Although it costs £88, it is a mini dress rather than a playsuit, which perfectly captures Sydney’s style.

However, the ASOS Double Cloth Playsuit is equally as versatile as it is to wear it with a pair of sandals and a pair of biker boots in the summer. It’s lightweight and breezy while still being comfortable and hard-wearing because it’s made of 100% cotton.

You can still purchase it in any of four to eight sizes, or choose the Curve model, which has sizes from eight to thirty. You can get black if you don’t already have it in a few other shades.

You can get the summery look without breaking the bank with the color choices of buttermilk yellow, green, and pale pink. The black version should be winging its way into your wardrobe right away if you want to copy Sydney’s classic Italian style.
