Iyabo Ojo Slams Tanzanian Blogger Over Comment On Daughter

After Kimambi made a controversial post encouraging her daughter Priscilla and her Tanzanian husband Juma Jux, actress and entrepreneur Iyabo Ojo dragged a Tanzanian blogger through the mud, Iyabo Ojo dragged Mange Kimambi through the mud to stop social media content from detracting from Tanzania’s electoral season.

The blogger argued in a post on Friday that the couple’s online activity was distracting from the “fight of a lifetime” in the country.

Your Tanzanian in-laws adore you, Kimambi wrote. We have embraced you with loving arms, but Tanzania is engaged in a fight of a lifetime. You seem like such a sweet girl. Our rights are being fought for.

We don’t need you and Jux to annoy our people with pointless content that the government wants you guys to post because we need our people to pay attention to the fight.

“We need you and Jux to sit down for the next five months because we are on their as* and we aren’t letting up.” You can continue to do whatever you need to do to stay relevant after the election, and we will back you.

Don’t let us hate you, please. When you travel to London next week, we need you to keep Jux in the room and stop posting pointless material to annoy us. Also, while you’re at it, tell Jux to tell his best friend @diamondplatnumz to lay low for the next five months.

We are aware that you may not want to join our fight because you, at our expense, enjoy the privilege our government has to offer, but kindly don’t stop us from trying.

Iyabo criticized Kimambi for meddling in Priscilla and Jux’s affair, which was not supportive of Kimambi’s advice, though.

The actress remarked, “Your audacity is shocking me! It is unacceptable to make such a reference to my daughter and her husband, calling their contentment stupid, and attempting to stoke fear and intimidation. I’ve taught her to be self-assured and authentic as a parent. Although the Mkambala are very quiet, please take note that my daughter won’t joke with me.

Regarding the wedding rumors, my family’s financial institution covers costs, not my government, which is what gave us the money. We, the Nigerians, gave my daughter a lavish wedding in Nigeria, and we were able to arrange it for her.

I stand by my principles and fight for what I believe in without disparaging or threatening anyone because I am an activist. A true leader requires courage and presence. You must be living in America to dictate to my daughter and her husband, who are living in Tanzania.

Syria confirms closure of civil war-era desert camp, displaced return home

The notorious Rukban displacement camp in Syria’s desert, a ominous symbol of the country’s civil war, has ended, with only a few survivors making their way back to their hometowns.

A tragic and sorrowful chapter of displacement stories created by the bygone regime’s war machine comes to an end, according to Syrian Information Minister Hamza al-Mustafa on Saturday on X.

The regime left people in the barren desert to face their agonizing fate, he continued, noting that “Rukban was not just a camp; it was the triangle of death that bore witness to the cruelty of siege and starvation.”

The camp was set up in a deconflict zone that was run by coalition forces led by the United States to fight ISIL (ISIS), in 2014 at the height of the nation’s ruinous civil war.

The camp was used to house those who sought refuge and hope to cross the border into Jordan after being bombarded by the then-President’s government and fighting against ISIL.

However, al-Assad’s regime’s regime rarely permitted aid to enter the camp because neighbors’ nations blocked access, leaving Rukban stranded there for years, putting it under a severe siege.

Around 8, 000 people stayed in mud-brick homes where food and basic items were being smuggled in at high prices.

Families started leaving the camp and going home after al-Assad was toppled in December following a lightning attack led by Ahmed al-Sharaa, the current head of Syria’s interim government.

Following the fall of al-Assad, al-Sharaa has pledged to unite Syria, restore the nation domestically, and join the international community abroad.

Al-Sharaa convened with world leaders last month, including US President Donald Trump, who announced that all sanctions against Syria would be lifted, giving the nation a “chance at greatness.” Sanctions were lifted as well as the European Union stepped up. After nearly 14 years of war and economic devastation, Syria now has a crucial lifeline for economic recovery.

A&B: “A&#; Castle in my eyes”

Yasmine al-Salah, who marked the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha and returned to her home after nine years of displacement in the Rukban camp, told The Associated Press news agency on Friday that her emotions are “uncountable.”

Even though our house has been destroyed, our family has no money, we are hungry, and we have debts, and my husband is ill and unable to work and we have children, al-Salah said. Still, our home is a castle in my eyes.

During the war, her home in the Homs province’s eastern town of al-Qaryatan suffered damage.

Raed al-Saleh, the minister for emergency situations and disasters in Syria, stated on X that the camp’s closure represents “the end of one of the harshest humanitarian tragedies that our displaced people have ever seen.”

We hope that this action will lead to the restoration of the camps’ residents’ dignity and safety, he continued.

Lambourn storms to Derby win at Epsom for O’Brien

Lambourn won the Derby at Epsom to set a new record for Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien, his 11th victory in the Classic.

The 13-2 chance, ridden by Wayne Lordan, slammed against the wall without being caught.

Outsider Lazy Griff (50-1) finished third, followed by Tennessee Stud (third).

In the lead-up to the race, Lambourn, the Chester Vase winner, was perceived as the outsider of O’Brien’s three rivals.

However, The Lion In Winter was 14th place while Delacroix, who was chosen by stable jockey Ryan Moore, was only able to finish ninth.

Lordan’s early efforts to get Lambourn to the front made him a powerful winner in the 246th running of the race.

The major leagues in Europe and around the world may have ended, but the actions behind the pitch are intensifying. Teams are sacking coaches, signing players, and making moves to bolster their chances ahead of the campaign.

It’s the season of firing at Tottenham! Despite helping to break the club’s 17-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League, Ange Postecoglou was shown the exit door on Friday, becoming the latest casualty in the Premier League sack race.

The North London club finished 17th in the league, one of their worst outings in decades. Even though the team qualified for the Champions League by winning Europe’s second-tier club competition, Spurs said it was time for the Australian gaffer to go.

“Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties,” a statement on Tottenham’s official X account said.

Super Eagles Held By Russia

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles have continued their preparations for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, drawing European side Russia in a friendly game in Moscow.

An own-goal by Semi Ajayi, who deflected a low cross past goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, gave Russia a 27th-minute lead. However, Genk striker Tolu Arokodare came off the bench in the second half to score his first goal for Nigeria. The match ended 1-1! Friday’s game came off the back of the Super Eagles winning the Unity Cup —an invitational tournament in England.

Nigeria are at risk of missing out on the World Cup after an abysmal start to the qualification campaign. The Super Eagles and South Africa, who will clash in a key World Cup qualifier during September, finished second and third in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Super Falcons Humble Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses

Gauff is targeting to become only the third player to win two women’s Grand Slam titles before 22 since Maria Sharapova added the 2006 US Open to her famous 2004 Wimbledon win. The others are Swiatek and former world number one Naomi Osaka.
