The spark to reinvigorate Man Utd? How Cunha fits Amorim’s plans

A humiliating defeat in the Europa League final. a historically awful Premier League campaign. A brand-new head coach who won’t be afraid to reveal how unpopular Manchester United have become.

One of the biggest clubs in the world is obviously broken and knee-deep.

One of the most significant transfer windows in United history is this summer.

They can’t afford any errors if they want to avoid yet another failed reboot. Ruben Amorim is adamant about playing in the 3-4-3-3-3-3 system because they must give him the best resources possible to succeed.

What should you do first?

You could do worse than to sign Matheus Cunha, the club’s best player of the season, who is currently at the end of his career.

The problems with goalscoring that exist in Erik ten Hag’s time must be addressed by United.

Only the bottom three Premier League teams, including Everton, outscored United over the past season. They were the top scorers in the top half of the table the previous season, and they were the lowest team overall.

That Cunha played for a Wolves team that primarily had a back three system under both Gary O’Neil and Vitor Pereira will benefit Amorim.

A number of players have moved on to other countries after becoming a burden with the United shirt, such as Scott McTominay’s dancing in Naples.

However, the fact that Cunha accepted the responsibility for creating chances at Wolves and scoring them from nothing can cheer up United fans.

With numerous significant contributions, Cunha became the club’s talismanic at Wolves, avoiding the drop twice.

Consider, for instance, the first of Cunha’s two goals against Nottingham Forest in April 2024, a 2-2 draw. The Brazilian dribbled into the top corner from the corner of the penalty area, rounding two Forest defenders, and launching a shot into the top corner.

The Manchester United attack has gotten too predictable.

Before the wing-backs and midfielders are marked, they pass it to the back three, leaving the striker with no choice but to run.

Rasmus Hojlund, who isn’t particularly good at holding the ball up, frequently gets the long pass, which leads to a turnover.

United lack players who can move the ball around and use it.

Only Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho, who are likely to leave, have the ability to attack defenders with their initiative and create a chance in a systemic setting.

ability to carry balls

There haven’t been many games where you can say Amorim’s style of play has worked since his arrival.

The team’s lack of ball carriers is a major factor in this.

Kobbie Mainoo and Ten Hag were sufficient. On the defensive half-turn, he could drive the ball up the pitch. However, in 2024 and 2025, Mainoo found it difficult to find minutes.

The statistics suggest that United needs a player who can turn the ball from defense to attack, and Cunha might be one of them.

Cunha's chance-creating carries graphicOpta

The Brazilian’s ability to carry balls well is what makes him want to go deep in order to take possession. His new club has a lot of potential there.

The press frequently suffocates United’ central midfield, forcing them to pass it backwards to the back three.

Both of the number 10s on either side of the main striker are responsible for dragging an opposing defender out of position and dropping deep for the ball.

Cunha can wiggle free of challenges and dart into the half-spaces while dropping deep to receive the ball.

The defender who was pulled out of position has a space created by this.

After receiving the ball from the defense, Cunha showed at Wolves. He can cross an overlapful full-back with ease.

Cunha can pull wider to get the ball, allowing the opposition to be confused by the other players’ half-space.

Because the danger is supposed to result from the full-backs’ movement, either out wide or underlapping, those characteristics will go with Amorim’s style. They can profit from Cunha’s tendency to draw players in.

Cunha scored the winning goal from a corner in a match in which Amorim’s side were completely outshot last December when Wolves defeated Manchester United 2-0.

It was a cheeky goal that demonstrated Cunha’s potential.

United’s flat attack desperately needs his flair, intelligence, and ability to grab games by the neck.

Supreme Court, NCJ Chapters Back Out Of Planned JUSUN Strike

The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN)’s Supreme Court and National Judicial Council (NJC) chapters have made an announcement to stop the union’s planned industrial action.

JUSUN’s national headquarters ordered its members to stop using their tools beginning at midnight on Sunday, as part of the strike action that was scheduled for Friday.

The union claimed that the industrial action was necessary after meetings with the Minister of Labor and Employment about the workers’ demands turned out to be insufficient.

The statement, titled “Strike Circular,” was signed by its General Secretary, M. J. Akwashiki, and stated the demands that included the payment of a five-month wage award, the implementation of the $700,000 national minimum wage, and the 25/35 percent salary increase.

However, the Supreme Court chapter argued against the short notice and decisions made by the chapters at the lower courts in a statement from its chairman, Danladi Nda Y., dated May 31, 2025.

The Supreme Court’s leadership, led by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the country’s supreme court’s chief justice, had been making efforts to improve the conditions of the workers there.

The statement read, “We cannot manage the Supreme Court because of the short notice and decisions made by our colleagues in (lower) sister courts.” Furthermore, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun’s (CJN) efforts and struggles in this regard must lead to the desired outcome rather than be in vain.

Our chapter is arguing nonstop with all federal court chapters to remind us of His Lordship the Chief Justice of Nigeria’s tireless efforts and commitment.

In a similar vein, the NJC chapter stated that it was working to “resolve all pending issues” in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Joel Ebiloma.

Additionally, it stated that it would give the Minister and other important parties until after the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation’s problems are resolved.

In light of the information above, we want to make it clear that the NJC JUSUN will send a Monday morning appointment to all staff members.

A new winner, but is Champions League now a Super League by default?

After defeating Inter Milan 5-0 in the most unfavorable final in competition history, Paris St-Germain are now the champions of Europe.

The French side is the first to capture the prized trophy since Marseille in 1993, and they are also the 24th other club to do so.

Before you forget, PSG’s starting XI in Munich cost £403 million to put together, compared to the £137 million Inter paid for their starting side, the Champions League and its new format appear to be more diverse.

Many people disapproved of our project, according to PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who also criticized and questioned us.

“Win once more is the goal now.” Although it took 14 years of diligent effort, we are still creating something for the future.

PSG was purchased by Qatar Sports Investments in 2011. According to estimates from Transfermarkt, the club has spent 2.3 billion euros ($2.1 billion) on transfer fees since then.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire told BBC Sport, “If you look at their wage bill from last season, it was probably one of the top two or three highest in European football.

“They won the Champions League for the first time, and the football was absolutely fantastic,” says the romantic side of things. However, you would anticipate them to be there or thereabouts financially.

Manchester City, who are currently owned by Abu Dhabi and are the second-richest club in the world, one place ahead of Real Madrid, won the Champions League for the first time in a row.

Fans can now expect more games, more goals, and a chance to see European heavyweights compete against one another in a more frequent manner thanks to the new Champions League format, which has 36 teams in the competition proper as opposed to 32 under the old format.

Following the demise of a new European Super League (ESL), which the majority of the teams involved withdrew after a backlash led by fans, it was introduced.

What was the controversy surrounding the European Super League?

Plans to create a European Super League in 2021 were signed by 12 of Europe’s leading clubs, including six from the Premier League.

The English delegation included AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, and Liverpool, as well as Manchester United, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Tottenham as founding members.

The Champions League would have essentially replaced it as Europe’s elite competition, but it would not have had the same qualifying criteria as the Champions League, which allowed teams to compete based on their domestic standing.

The original members also wished to remain members of their respective domestic leagues.

The plans became contentious with rival clubs who claimed it devalued domestic competition as well as with supporters.

Critics claimed the competition was a closed book for Europe’s elite teams because the competition’s original competitors could not be “relegated” from it.

England has six Champions League spots, according to the report.

Instead of the usual four, six English Premier League teams will play in the Champions League next season.

After Uefa, the governing body for European football, gave two bonus spots to the domestic leagues that had the best performance in Europe in 2024 and 2025, Newcastle United, who finished fifth, will participate in the competition.

Tottenham, who finished 17th overall, will now compete alongside Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Arsenal after winning the Europa League.

Spain will take five spots, followed by Germany and Italy, and France will have three teams out of the 36 spots in the top five leagues in the league phase.

In addition, Portugal, Greece, the Czech Republic, Turkey, and Belgium will each have one team while the Netherlands will have two during the league phase.

Only 11 of those 29 clubs have qualified for the league stage this year as the nation’s champions.

Only seven spots will be chosen through the qualifying rounds, that is.

According to Ian Dennis, senior football correspondent for BBC Radio 5 Live, “I don’t believe it’s right that England should have six teams in the Champions League.”

“I understand why. It’s basically a Super League in all but name, which we’re working toward.

However, if you give it some thought, the English coefficient, unless it’s unusual, will always be in the top three, if not the top two, regardless of the Premier League teams’ dominance in the various European competitions.

“And by extension, the English clubs will always gain from this extra space.”

Will a champion once again be won by an underdog?

Who won the Champions League last year, and will it continue?

In 2003-2004, Jose Mourinho’s Porto made a fairytale run to the final, which included defeating a strong Manchester United before defeating Monaco 3-0.

Real Madrid (six times), Barcelona (six), Chelsea (six), Bayern Munich (two), AC Milan (two), Manchester United (1), Inter Milan (1), Manchester City (1), and Paris St-Germain (1) have all been the winners in the 21 previous editions.

“The likelihood of another Porto winning the Champions League is roughly the same as another Leicester City winning the Premier League,” added Maguire.

We’ve seen a decrease in the wealth of clubs. Dynasties are now on the rise.

Arsenal: The next first-time winners?

Who will be the next first-time winners after PSG’s triumph in Munich and Manchester City’s success in 2023?

Arsenal are in a good position because they have substantial investment in the squad, which is likely to be between £700 and $800 million, Maguire said.

When Mourinho took over, Inter Milan was the last Italian club to win the Champions League in 2010.

“Could we perhaps see another Italian club do it,” Maguire continued. Perhaps, but I’d say it’s unlikely, in my opinion. Given the demise of the French TV deal, it’s PSG or no one in France.

If Atletico Madrid can arrange their ducks, then “in Spain.”

Man Utd Sign Brazil Forward Cunha From Wolves

On Sunday, Manchester United signed Brazilian international Matheus Cunha from Wolves for a reportedly $ 62.5 million ($83 million).

The Old Trafford club is expected to offer Cunha a five-year contract, with the option to extend it by a further 12 months.

According to a United statement, “Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached an agreement to sign Matheus Cunha.”

“Matheus and Manchester United are a team of their own,” said one player.

The 26-year-old was in Manchester over the weekend to finalize his move, which required both a visa and registration.

Cunha won the club’s player of the year award after scoring 18 goals in all competitions for Wolves this year. He has 13 caps for Brazil.

After leaving Atletico Madrid in January 2023, the Brazilian finished his Wolves career with 33 goals in 92 games.

Cunha’s Wolves contract was made to allow United to make the release clause in his first summer transfer window as manager.

To cap a terrible season that included a 15th-place finish in the Premier League, which was their lowest final position since 1973-74, Amorim’s side lost the Europa League final against Tottenham.

Saudi Arabia calls Israel barring Arab ministers West Bank trip ‘extremism’

After blocking an Arab foreign ministers’ planned visit to the occupied West Bank, Saudi Arabia has accused Israel of “extremism and rejection of peace.”

Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the head of Saudi Arabia, made the remarks along with counterparts from Jordan, Egypt, and Bahrain at a joint press conference in Amman on Sunday.

The committee’s visit to the West Bank is embodied and confirmed by Israel’s refusal to support any serious efforts to [a]peer the path of peace,” according to Prince Faisal.

His remarks came after Israel blocked the Arab delegation’s meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah. In response to Israel’s ongoing conflict with Gaza, the ministers from Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had planned the trip.

The West Bank’s airspace and borders are controlled by Israel, which announced on Friday that it would not grant visitor permission.

An Israeli official had stated that the Palestinian Authority intended to hold a provocative meeting of foreign ministers from Arab nations in Ramallah to discuss the promotion of the establishment of a Palestinian state, adding that Israel would “not cooperate” with the visit.

Prince Faisal’s visit to the West Bank would have been the first time a senior Saudi official had visited in recent memory.

Ayman Safadi, the country’s foreign minister, cited as another illustration of how Israel was “killing any chance of a just and comprehensive” Arab-Israeli settlement.

The issue of Palestinian statehood will be the subject of a global conference that France and Saudi Arabia will co-chair in New York on June 17 through June 20.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty stated that the conference would discuss security arrangements following the ceasefire in Gaza and reconstruction plans to prevent any Israeli moves to evict Palestinians.

JENNIE BOND: Prince Harry’s fallen short with unexpected move – the irony is hard to ignore

According to an expert, Prince Harry’s surprise appearance in China appeared to fall short due to the “irony” of the trip. The Duke of Sussex traveled to Shanghai to attend a conference on global travel and tourism, where he urged the industry to support sustainable travel and tourism and shared climate objectives.

Harry is the co-founder of Travalyst, a non-profit organization that promotes sustainable travel. His separated father King Charles was in Canada for a historic visit, which included a speech in parliament, at the same time as his estranged father. However, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond thinks it didn’t deliver the waves Harry had hoped for, despite Harry’s first visit to China being a first.

Harry makes a wave to attendees of the conference (Trip.com Group Envision 2025/Travalyst).

She added to the Mirror’s report, “Fortunately, it doesn’t seem to have overshadowed Charles and Camilla’s trip to Canada.” It appears to have produced very little news overall. It seems like the plan fell far short if the goal was to promote the cause as much as possible.

“He was there without much of a splash, and there was no advance information about it.” However, Travalyst clearly hired him to deliver such keynote speeches, and I’m confident he did well. The King’s visit to Canada would have coincidentally, and it would have been without reason.

“It’s not difficult to ignore the irony of flying across the world to promote sustainable, environmentally friendly travel. Perhaps a video speech would have been more morally correct? William’s flying around the world to host the Earthshot Awards could face the same criticism, but sometimes it just raises the profile in a way that no one else could. Harry’s presence may have done the same thing, but I’m not sure.

Harry’s travels came amid reports that suggested Harry’s search for a “new purpose” might have led to all that might be set to change. Harry reportedly plans to start his own business in the upcoming months while also focusing on his Invictus Games Foundation.

One of the first tasks for the newly formed Sussex team of advisors will be to provide no information on what the potential venture might be.

Jennie did, however, add that “personally, I think this commercial route opens him up to all kinds of accusations of trading on his royal status, which would make him even more angrier than he is right now.

“I believe Harry is still figuring out where he will go.” He is a very wealthy man by industry standards, but life in Montecito is not cheap, especially given the security costs he deems necessary.

So why doesn’t he give his wife the support she needs while helping the kids and charities? Although that is unconstitutional, he might feel the need to pursue commercial endeavors as well.

Prince Harry has recently promoted his charitable and non-profit causes in his recent appearances. And Jennie continued, “Being a stay-at-home dad and using his influence to support charities around the world is not wrong. He excels at being both a person and interacting with others. Perhaps he should stick to what he was born with, trained for, and truly good at.
