Why Trump and Bukele are destroying Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s life

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national who had lived and worked in the US for almost half his life, was deported to El Salvador in March by the US government. Little did he know that US President Donald Trump’s sinisterly exuberant and widespread deportation campaign would soon introduce him.

Abrego Garcia, who is the parents’ five-year-old autistic son, was detained while driving in Maryland with Jennifer Vasquez Sura, who is also a citizen of the US, and has since reportedly experienced severe trauma as a result. Vasquez Sura claimed in a later court affidavit that her son, who is unable to speak, had been “very distressed” by his father’s “sustained disappearance,” crying more than usual, and “finding Kilmar’s work shirts and smelling them, to smell Kilmar’s familiar scent.”

Of course, in everyone’s favorite “land of the free,” tearing families apart and causing traumatized children has long been par for the bipartisan course, but Trump has undoubtedly produced more of a sensational spectacle than his Democratic foes, Joe Biden and Barack Obama. In the name of national security, after all, there is nothing like planting a lot of anxiety and psychological trauma, right?

More than 200 other people, including Abrego Garcia, were deported to El Salvador in addition to the Trump administration’s most recent experiments with a sadistic counterimmigration policy. The notorious mega-prison built by  Nayib Bukele, El Salvador’s self-described “coolest dictator in the world,” the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT), was quickly housed the deportees. The facility has tens of thousands of people who have been detained as a result of the “state of emergency” that was declared in 2022, and it has no signs of abating.

More than 85% of the country’s population, or more than 1% of the country’s population, have been imprisoned under the pretense of fighting gangs in an array of jails that frequently serve as black holes for the indefinitely disappearing human beings as well as any notion of human and legal rights. There is even less of a rush to put an end to the “emergency” now that US funding, deportations, and inbound money have increased El Salvador’s international carceral clout and Bukele’s tough-guy image.

In addition, Trump and Bukele have had a greater opportunity to showcase their shared fervor for sociopathy and disdain for the law as a result of the particular case of Abrego Garcia. Due to the dangers that such a move would entail for his life, Abrego Garcia’s deportation to El Salvador happened in direct violation of a US immigration judge’s 2019 ruling, which stated that he could not be deported to his home country.

Indeed, Abrego Garcia fled to the United States as a teenager out of fear for his life as a result of family threats from gangs. The Trump-Bukele team is still determined not to correct the fact that his deportation in March was quickly caused by an administrative error.

After all, this would set a dangerous precedent by implying that asylum seekers in the US shouldn’t have to endure a “administrative error”-caused spontaneous disappearance to El Salvador and that there is a possibility of recourse to justice.

According to a recent New York Times article that details the Trump administration’s debate over how to handle the PR side of the Abrego Garcia blunder before it became public, US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials “discussed trying to portray Mr. Abrego Garcia as a “leader” of the violent street gang MS-13, even though they could not find any supporting evidence.”

But a lack of evidence has never stopped those who don’t care about the first things that are true. The president has unapologetically referred to a doctored photograph of the man’s knuckles, while Trump officials have continued to insist on Abrego Garcia’s affiliation with MS-13. The police department in Prince George’s County, Maryland, made a significant contribution to the administration’s decision to classify Abrego Garcia as a gang member because, among other oh-so-incriminating behaviors, he was also wearing a Chicago Bulls hat in 2019.

Given the US basketball team’s enormous domestic and international fanbase, it would be absurd to use Chicago Bulls merchandise as alleged proof of gang membership, if, in reality, such preposterous profiling tendencies did not directly lead to physical and psychological misery for Abrego Garcia and countless other people.

The US Supreme Court issued an order in April to “facilitate” Abrego Garcia’s return to the country. The administration has gone to ridiculous lengths to defy a separate order from US District Judge Paula Xinis that requests details on what it is doing to secure Abrego Garcia’s release in addition to failing to so far.

According to DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin, the Trump administration officials then chose the good old “state secrets” excuse, which would allow the withholding of information regarding Abrego Garcia’s case in order to safeguard “national security” and the “safety of the American people.”

Bukele, on the other hand, has handled the Abrego Garcia situation with a petulant and vengeful machismo appropriate for the “coolest dictator” of the world, ridiculing the wronged and imprisoned man in X. How can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States? Bukele made it clear to reporters during an April, visit, and in person visit to his partner in crime in the Oval Office in Washington.

In El Salvador, where the civil war of 1979-1992 claimed the lives of more than 75, 000 people, it is worth noting that long before the “state of emergency” there is now, the US had a sizable hand in supporting right-wing state terror.

Numerous Salvadorans emigrated north to the US, where MS-13 and other gangs formed as a form of collective self-defense, and the majority of wartime atrocities were committed by the US-backed Salvadoran military and allied death squads. The US began deporting gang members in large numbers to a newly devastated nation after the war’s conclusion, easing the way for more hostility, migration, and deportation, leading to, of course, the most infamous dictatorship in the world.

Nothing, as they say, aids in the consolidation of power and the evisceration of rights more than a strong “terrorist” enemy, and at the moment, Abrego Garcia is the liar who serves as one of two sociopathic heads of state as that enemy. Abrego Garcia isn’t Osama bin Laden; he’s just a random man whose calculated torment is intended as a warning to anyone who might be overly confident in the rule of law, in the end.

Trump has already proposed and sent US citizens to El Salvador for incarceration, along with every trace of legality. The president has suggested that Bukele construct more prisons, a task that presumably won’t require a lot of arm-twisting.

No one is safe as the US government attempts to systematically annihilate both the rights of legal citizens and foreign nationals.

Bangladesh ex-PM Hasina charged with ‘systematic attack’ as trial opens

At the start of her trial over the deadly crackdown that led to last year’s trial, Bangladeshi prosecutors claimed that former prime minister Sheikh Hasina planned a “systematic attack” against protests against her government.

In his opening statement on Sunday, Bangladesh’s domestic International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), Mohammad Tajul Islam, the chief prosecutor, told the court that “we came to the conclusion that it was a coordinated, widespread, and systematic attack.”

As he accused the 77-year-old former leader and two other officials of “abetment, incitement, complicity, facilitation, conspiracy, and failure to prevent mass murder” during the student-led mass uprising, Islam said, “The accused unleashed all law enforcement agencies and her armed party members to crush the uprising.”

Nearly 1,400 Bangladeshis were killed between July and August 2024, according to the UN, as a result of Hasina’s government’s brutal campaign to silence the protesters. Bangladesh has charged her with crimes against humanity in relation to the killings.

Hasina, her former ally and self-imposed exile in neighboring India, has refuted the accusations as politically motivated.

Following the nationwide demonstrations that ended her “autocratic” 15-year rule, which was alleged to have included repeated human rights violations, including attacks, imprisonment, and even targeted killings of opposition figures, dissenters, and critics, she flew by helicopter to New Delhi in August of last year.

Since then, she has defied both an arrest warrant and an extradition order.

Former Interior Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun are also facing charges from the ICT in relation to the ousted Hasina government and her now-banned Awami League party.

Numerous political parties are now vying for control, demanding their prosecution. Elections will be held before June 2026, according to the interim government.

The court is scheduled to file formal charges on Sunday after the prosecution submitted its report on the case against Hasina last month.

Hasina is accused of “abetting, incitement, complicity, facilitation, conspiracy, and failure to prevent mass murder during the July uprising,” according to ICT chief prosecutor Tajul Islam on May 12.

As part of their investigation, investigators have gathered audio and video recordings of Hasina’s phone conversations, records of helicopter and drone movements, as well as statements from the crackdown victims.

On May 25, the ICT’s first trial involving the previous government began. Eight police officers are facing crimes against humanity for the killing of six protesters on August 5, 2024, the day Hasina fled the country.

Four of the officers are being held in custody, and four are awaiting in absentia trial.

Molly-Mae Hague’s ‘strict rule for Tommy Fury’ to build ‘trust’ revealed after rekindling romance

Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, who both had previously rekindled romance on Ex-Love Island, briefly called it quits last year in a report that shocked their devoted community.

Since their romance has rekindled, Molly-Mae Hague’s relationship with Tommy Fury has a non-negotiable rule, according to reports.

Molly-Mae Hague has one non-negotiable rule for Tommy Fury, since they’ve rekindled their romance, according to reports. The Love Island stars, both 26, are navigating their new relationship after briefly calling it quits last year in news which left their legion of loyal fans heartbroken.

Molly-Mae and Tommy, who share daughter, Bambi, two, shared a loved-up family snap last month – much to fans’ delight – after a difficult year in which they split in August, 2024, before Tommy cited his drinking as one of the reasons why the couple called it quits. As they start afresh as a family of three, ‘ultimate influencer’, Molly-Mae, is now said to have one ‘strict rule’ for the boxer, with a source saying Tommy must check in with the multi-millionaire via FaceTime – whenever he can.

A source told The Sun: “It sounds extreme, but Molly feels much more reassured when Tommy checks in. It all helps with trust, honesty and transparency between the two of them.

Tommy has shown great commitment so far, and he will FaceTime him when he boarded a train.

It is believed that the younger brother of Tyson Fury has also been checking in with Molly-Mae if he takes a flight anywhere as well as when he checks into a hotel.

The boxer is also alleged to “dutifully call the mother of his child” as soon as he arrives to find his whereabouts.

The source revealed that Tommy’s pals are “impressed” because they have been very dedicated to the entrepreneur’s requests so far.

Molly-Mae confirmed she was back with Tommy last month after she opened up about their relationship on a new episode of her reality series, Molly-Mae: Behind It All.

She gushed, “Dubai was picture perfect, like it was just the best trip ever,” when she spoke about their recent trip to the UAE with their daughter, Bambi. It literally resembled everything I desired it to be, plus more.

Molly-Mae added, in her Amazon Prime Video docuseries: “It was exactly what we needed. All the noise of everyone just switched off, everyone’s opinions. Nothing mattered. It was just like us in our bubble. She [Bambi] had the best time ever.”

She acknowledged that “nothing was certain,” but she continued, “Things are looking so much better for us.” I’ll start putting in more time at Tommy’s house, slowing down and refraining from doing anything hurriedly.

“But I always say I’m not sure what the future holds, as always.” It won’t likely be a simple future, in my opinion. I don’t. Just being honest, that’s me. I believe there will still be bumps.

Molly-Mae and Tommy’s representatives have been contacted by The Mirror for comment on this story.

British Soap Awards after party ‘bomb threat’ – stars forced to flee swanky do

Following last night’s dramatic conclusion of the British Soap Awards after party, celebrities were ordered to leave the venue because of an alleged bomb threat. After the awards, which were hosted by TV host Jane McDonald, actor Sir David Jason, and Gavin and Stacey’s Larry Lamb, the celebration took place in London’s Hackney Town Hall.

However, a source has exclusively reported to The Mirror that attendees were unabatedly told to leave the venue shortly after the event had reportedly received a bomb threat.

Last night, the biggest soap stars were seen leaving the British Soap Awards after party in Hackney, London.

“We all evacuated just before 1:00 a.m. Security arrived and told us we had to leave immediately, according to our source, who gave no explanation at first.

Security informed us that there had been a bomb threat as we all stood outside the street. People started making their way home because we were prevented from returning to the building.

Some of TV’s biggest soap stars can be seen waiting outside the venue as more evacuate, including former Hollyoaks star Emmett J. Scanlan and EastEnders’ Tameka Empson, according to a video shared with The Mirror.

Additionally, a show source added that “the after party venue was required to be evacuated due to a security alert following the recording of the awards.” Everyone was safely cleared from the building.

ITV and the Metropolitan Police are in contact with The Mirror for comment.

EastEnders won the BBC show’s biggest award at the British Soap Awards last night, beating Emmerdale, Corrie, and Hollyoaks to take home Best British Soap.

Eight awards were awarded to the series, including Best Dramatic Performance for Steve McFadden and Best Single Episode for Phil Mitchell’s psychosis.

Emmerdale won two awards, Hollyoaks won three, and Coronation Street won just one, the Outstanding Achievement Award, given to David Neilson, who has played Roy Cropper for 30 years.

The ceremony was preceded by the biggest ITV, BBC, and Channel 4 stars, who both wore the same Oh Polly dress.

In an exclusive conversation with The Mirror, Jacqueline Jossa of EastEnders revealed that Lauren Branning’s most recent storyline about her blind child was “tough” to make. Being a mother, especially, she said, “It has really tugged at the heartstrings.”

She also addressed the rumors that her on-screen father Jake Wood, who plays Max Branning, would be returning to the soap. She remarked, “I am the worst at keeping secrets, so they don’t tell me anything.”

On Thursday, June 5th, the British Soap Awards will air on ITV1 and ITVX at 8 p.m.

Meghan Markle’s single-word response when asked about first meeting Kate Middleton

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle engaged in a conversation with the BBC, and the Duchess of Sussex revealed what it was like to have a first-hand encounter with her sister-in-law, the now Princess of Wales.

Meeting your partner’s family for the first time is daunting – not least for Meghan Markle, who had to introduce herself to royalty when she first started dating Harry. And the Duchess of Sussex revealed her first impression of her sister-in-law Kate after meeting her at a private dinner she hosted with her then husband-to-be.

Harry spotted Meghan on Instagram in 2016 before asking her out to dinner at Soho House in London. From there, the couple went on more dates before spending a week camping in the wilderness together. After Harry and Meghan’s engagement in 2017, the couple gave an interview to the BBC’s Mishal Hussein and recalled Meghan’s first meeting with Kate.

Harry said at the time, “I mean, I’ve been seeing her for a while, when I literally didn’t tell anybody at all.

We managed to get that in a couple of, well, quite a few times and Catherine has been absolutely wonderful. “And then William was longing to meet her, and so was Catherine,” she said, “and she was also,” and she was also,” Wonderful. “And then, with a one-word answer chipped in, we also managed to get that.

She praised the Royal Family’s warm embrace of her and recalled a special occasion meeting with the late Queen.

Meghan responded, “I think I have a deep understanding and unmatched respect for being able to have that time with her because I can meet him through his lens, not just with his honor and respect for her as the monarch, but with his love for her as his grandmother.” And we’ve had a truly incredible woman, she’s incredible.

Many people assumed that Meghan and Kate would be able to reconcile after their first wedding to the Royal Family. However, it appears that because of their starkly different personalities, the two women never really get together, and Meghan later admitted to having a “jarring” moment when she first saw Kate.

Meghan explained in episode two of the six-part Harry &amp, Meghan Netflix that she remembered when Will and Kate visited for dinner and that she had a pair of ripped jeans and bare feet. I gave hugs. Although I’ve always been a hugger, I didn’t realize how jarring that was for many Brits.

“I guess I quickly realized that the formality on the outside had a long history inside. When you close the door and say “You can relax now,” there is a forward-facing way of being, but the formality persists on both sides. And I found that to be surprising.

Meanwhile, Harry went into more detail surrounding the two women in his memoir Spare, as he recounts several times that his wife, Meghan, seemed at loggerheads with his sister-in-law, Kate in the early days of their romance.

He claims that Kate “grimaced” when the duchess borrowed her lip gloss after arguing with the two women over bridesmaid dresses at his wedding and that Meghan was in tears. And he describes Kate’s request for an apology from Meghan after Prince Louis’ birth was refuted by Meghan.

Harry also identifies the precise moment at which he realized Meghan and Kate might not have been able to agree during the same dinner. Harry discusses Wimbledon and the legal drama Suits in Spare, in which Meghan describes how she cooked and how everything seemed to be going well.

The only thing I could think of was the obvious difference between the two women’s fashion choices, which both seemed to notice. For example, barefoot and ripped jeans. Kate: flawlessly executed. I thought there was no such thing.

Chris Stark left fuming over awkward Scott Mills and ‘rude’ Jennifer Aniston prank

ExCLUSIVE: In an interview with Hollywood legend Jennifer Aniston, radio legend Chris Stark revealed how his “worst nightmare” actually came true.

Chris Stark was left close to tears after an awkward run-in with Jennifer Aniston. The former BBC Radio 1 legend is no stranger to interviewing some of the biggest names in entertainment but he admitted his chat with Jennifer was his “worst nightmare”.

The 38-year-old had previously sat down with Jennifer, 56, while she was plugging We’re The Millers, during which they chatted about strip clubs, had a cheeky flirt, and Chris even told the Friends icon she was on most men’s “list” of the five hottest women in the world.

So Chris immediately jumped at the chance to see her again in 2014 while she was promoting Horrible Bosses 2. He was unaware that Scott Mills, his former co-star, had pulled a daring prank, though. Jen was secretly told by Scott, 52, to be the “worst interviewee ever.”

However, Jennifer had no idea that Chris had consumed the alcohol the night before their conversation. When Chris inquired, “Your character Julie is so forward, I’m interested to know how you would make the first move, if you wanted to, with a guy,” things started to look a little off.

Secretly, it was revealed that Jennifer was the worst interviewee.

Jennifer, in on the joke, instantly became cold, responding: “First of all, I don’t think that’s an appropriate question, I’m also committed to somebody. I don’t hit on people,” as Chris was left flustered trying to cover his tracks. Recalling the moment, he exclusively told the Mirror: “It was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.

I turned up to interview Jennifer after having a great night out the night before. She had previously been interviewed, and the result was a huge success (it received over three million views). I wasn’t aware that I was a prank at the time. Scott kind of planned how to make her interview difficult.

Jennifer Aniston was there waiting for me because it had just begun, and she was like, “Oh my Watford guy, how are you? ” and the interview eventually turned out to be the most awkward.” Chris continued, “I was feeling extra sensitive and I wanted to cry and have the ground swallow me up because I had this big night out.”

Chris, who is fragile, acknowledged that it was his
Chris, who is fragile, acknowledged that it was his “worst nightmare.”

“Fortunately, there was a moment when Scott entered, and I learned it was a prank. The most embarrassing, awkward moment I’ve ever been a part of, waiting for that moment for ten or so, thinking I might have somehow upset Jennifer Aniston. “Thank God it was a prank,” he said.

However, Chris, who now hosts the Capital FM Breakfast Show, acknowledges that despite having “embarrassing moments throughout his career, he no longer feels embarrassed about them.” You don’t need to be embarrassed, he said, so I think you can learn that everything goes on.

Due to having to wake up at 4am every weekday for work, Chris recently discussed looking after his own health and sleep. He explained that I wouldn’t really, I don’t know, or that sleep is something that I would value so highly.

He acknowledges, however, that the campaign highlighted the importance of a sound sleep schedule. In conversations with people of all ages, Chris came across the phrase “bed chemistry”: how compatible a person is with the person they share a bed with. He laughed as he reflected on his early wake-ups, but I’ve come to the conclusion that my wife and I are not particularly sleepy.

He continued, “Linking up with Dreams seemed like a really obvious choice and a really funny thing to explore, but it kind of led to my real life.” Chris acknowledges that his family’s reaction to his wake-up call is a difficult one because his body experiences a “massive shock” when his alarm goes off.

He stated that while getting up and ready for his day at work, everyone at the company appreciates getting some rest. “I’ve always appreciated getting some sleep,” he said. But I’m trying to kind of improve it since joining Dreams in every way possible.

The broadcaster acknowledges that his new partnership has “opened up a few questions” about his health issues from not getting enough sleep. He added that “if you are going to have fewer hours and you can’t help it,” it’s important that you get a good night’s sleep. That’s something I’m trying to think about and pay closer attention to, and probably something I’m at least aware of.

Despite his early starts, Chris believes he’s not “disciplined enough” to have a sensible evening routine as he doesn’t want to “miss out on life.” He said: “It’s important to sound awake but it’s also important to feel really kind of plugged into the world. I’ve had times where I’ve been doing this breakfast show, where it sort of feels like you might have lost yourself a little bit or rightly so, napping all afternoon or not present seeing mates.

It’s all about balance, and I think I’ve struggled with balance while doing this show, and I do worry about missing out on some things. But right now, I’m feeling more at ease with it. However, Chris acknowledges that his new job on the program and the Capital Breakfast show have “fallen in love.”

As part of Chris Stark’s partnership with Dreams for their Bed Chemistry campaign, which explores how sleep-compatible Brits are with their partners, this interview was conducted.
