Kaduna Govt Faults El-Rufai’s Claim On Projects Inaugurated By Tinubu

Former governor Nasir El-Rufai claimed that all the projects President Bola Tinubu recently commissioned in the state were started under his administration, but the Kaduna State government refuted that claim.

El-Rufai, who presided over Kaduna between 2015 and 2023, claimed in a media interview on Monday that the projects President Tinubu inaugurated on Thursday were remnants of his (El-Rufai’s) presidency.

However, Ibraheem Musa, the governor’s chief press secretary, responded quickly by calling the former governor’s assertion a “bare-faced lie” and an attempt to defame facts.

Musa explained that the projects under consideration were either started or finished under the current administration in a statement released on Tuesday.

He noted the opening of the 300-bed Bola Tinubu Specialist Hospital, the 100-bed Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, and the opening of three major projects during President Tinubu’s visit.

The governor’s human capital development agenda, which includes the Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa Institute in Rigachikun, Col. Dangiwa Umar Institute in Soba, and Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Institute in Samaru Kataf, includes the vocational institutes.

According to the statement, the facilities were created to provide industry-standard training to 36, 000 youths each year.

According to the government, the institutes have been hailed as Nigeria’s best-equipped skills development centers thanks to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

No polytechnic or university of technology in the nation can compete with the facilities at these facilities, according to Prof. Idris Bugaje, the executive secretary of NBTE, who described Kaduna as “the hub of skills development in Nigeria.”

The state government added that the 300-bed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital was first established by Namadi Sambo’s administration, but it was unfinished until the current administration took control.

Governor Sani reportedly arrived at the hospital without any medical equipment at 53% of the time.

The unfinished facility has evolved into a symbol of waste, mismanagement, and abandonment, according to the statement.

According to the statement, Governor Sani’s broader healthcare revitalization program, which also includes the rehabilitation of various general hospitals throughout the state, prioritized the hospital’s completion and equipment.

According to the government, these initiatives are already enhancing access to healthcare and reducing multidimensional poverty.

The statement noted that President Tinubu was “effusive in his praise” of Governor Sani’s influence on the health sector during the commissioning, calling the facility a “signature achievement.”

The government claimed that Governor Sani’s plans to mitigate the effects of the elimination of fuel subsidies included the introduction of 100 CNG buses.

For the first six months, the buses provide free rides for employees, retirees, and students, with significantly reduced fares for the general public afterward.

Victoria Beckham breaks silence with ‘brave’ post after Brooklyn’s latest hurtful snub

Mum-of-four Victoria Beckham has posted a number of new Instagram photos as she continues to put on a ‘ brave face ‘ amid the family’s ongoing feud with Brooklyn

David and Victoria Beckham have maintained their polished public image this week, sharing upbeat content on Instagram, even as the strain with their eldest son Brooklyn becomes even more apparent.

Brooklyn, 26, raised eyebrows on Tuesday when he shared a glowing birthday tribute to his billionaire father-in-law, Nelson Peltz. “Happy birthday Nelson x We love you”, he captioned a photo of himself and Nicola alongside the powerful businessman.

The affectionate post stood in stark contrast to his continued silence toward his own parents – having ignored both of their birthdays and skipped David’s highly publicised 50th celebration altogether, as well as keeping quiet on Father’s Day and the news of his Knighthood.

While Brooklyn has poured love on the Peltz family, the Beckhams kept their focus on work. This week, Victoria, 51, uploaded clips from her facial treatments, showing herself lying on a spa bed mid-procedure.

One video read: “Inside Victoria’s skincare routine – From professional treatments with the incredible Keren Bartov to the everyday rituals she swears by, it’s all part of a considered approach”. She added, “Mini lift – ultrasound with radio frequency to build collagen and lift the skin”. Victoria also shared her full product lineup from her beauty brand, detailing her daily routine for clear, radiant skin.

David, 50, also stayed in promo mode, posting a light-hearted ad for Ninja, where he made watermelon margaritas with one of their juicers. Meanwhile, their middle son Romeo, 22, took to Instagram in a red Balenciaga top, posting a carousel of selfies and mirror snaps.

However, behind the cheerful updates lies a growing divide as reports have long suggested that David and Victoria are concerned about Nicola’s influence over Brooklyn, especially as his ties to the Beckham clan appear to be tearing apart.

The distance was first noticed when Brooklyn failed to post any birthday message for Victoria in May – a sharp contrast from previous years, where his social media tributes were a regular occurrence. Neither he nor Nicola publicly acknowledged her 51st, even as David, Romeo, and Cruz shared heartfelt messages.

Brooklyn also missed every single one of David’s 50th birthday events, including a private family party in the Cotswolds, a luxury getaway in France, a celebratory dinner at Core in Notting Hill, and a fishing trip with the Beckham men. Despite being in London at the time, he was absent from them all.

Brooklyn and Nicola, who were there with Moncler for a fashion shoot less than two miles from the Beckhams’ Holland Park home, reportedly didn’t inform David or Victoria of their visit, nor did they attempt to meet.

Though the Beckhams continue to present a united front, the silence from Brooklyn also continues speaks volumes. The Mirror has contacted the Beckham’s for comment on this story.

As Paul’s tension grew, the Englishman threw his fist on. Evans added 26 unforced errors to Paul’s 43, which compared to Paul’s 17 winners.

When he faces American champion loser Jenson Brooksby in the quarter-finals, he will aim to be even more patient.

Billy Harris’ recent success at Eastbourne was matched up by the Englishman’s second-straight quarter-finals.

Mattia Bellucci defeated Italian qualifier Mattia Bellucci 6-3, 6-4, in the main draw as a lucky loser.

Next up is French fourth seed Ugo Humbert, who could face Evans in the semi-finals.

The ‘12-Day War’ ended with an attack on Qatar. Why didn’t it escalate?

The region was prepared for an escalation when US President Donald Trump began his Israeli-Iran conflict late on Saturday night.

Iran’s nuclear facilities at Natanz, Fordow, and Esfahan were hit by US-lead 17 massive ordnance penetrators and two dozen cruise missiles, aiding Israel, which had already been conducting missile trade with Tehran since July 13.

Iran responded quickly. 14 missiles were launched at Al Udeid in Qatar, a neutral nation, at the US Air Force’s Central Command in the Middle East on Monday evening. The capital, Doha, was sputtering with fear as those missiles flew over.

However, the attack pretended to signal a truce that Trump announced hours later, and which was facilitated by sophisticated diplomacy between Qatar, the US, and Iran, rather than the “rathole of retaliations” UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres had warned against.

How did a ceasefire emerge from an attack’s smoke, then?

What choices did Iran have?

Given that the US has a presence in Iran’s neighborhood, it seemed obvious to use a military strategy.

Its Bahraini headquarters is located in addition to Al Udeid Airbase. Iran’s border with the Persian Gulf is only 200 kilometers (125 miles) long. Additionally, Oman has four logistics air bases and an air base in Kuwait. The US has three air bases in Saudi Arabia, three in Iraq, and three air bases in Jordan further afield.

According to Dorsa Jabbari of Al Jazeera, “The US has 40, 000 troops in the region [on] 19 US bases, eight of which are permanent, and Iran has previously stated that it will target Iran as legitimately if the US strikes Iran.”

Tehran’s “primary Iranian means of retaliation against adversary attacks” have historically been Tehran’s, according to the Washington-based think tank The Institute for the Study of War on Friday.

Iranian and Houthi militias could launch simultaneous attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and on Iranian-controlled Strait of Hormuz, putting both countries at risk of a global economic chokepoint.

The ISW wrote a comment on its website about the limitations of Iran’s so-called “Axis of Resistance” and how exhausted it is “after months of fighting the United States and Israel” before the proxy attacks never occurred.

A historian from St Andrews University in the UK told Al Jazeera on Monday that he believed “an off ramp” with the United States was likely to occur as the world prepared for Iran to respond to the US attacks.

Before the Iranian strike later that evening, he predicted there would be a lot of public bluster, but he predicted privately that “feelers will be out” (in a nutshell).

What transpired during the strike?

Iran struck Qatar on Monday around 7 p.m. local time (16:00 GMT).

Qatar referred to the attack as an “extremely dangerous escalation that flagrantly violates the State of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” The Iranian ambassador in Doha received a demarche.

However, it seems as though the “feelers” Ansari had referred to were already out.

Trump praised Iran on social media, saying, “I want to thank them for giving us early notice,” which made it possible for no lives to be lost and no injuries.

According to Trump, the warning also gave Qatar the opportunity to “prepare its air defenses,” downing 13 of the missiles and allowing one to fly “in a non-threatening direction.”

Since targeting Al Udeid before it struck Iran posed a low risk of casualties, satellite images suggested that the US had evacuated staff and aircraft from Al Udeid prior to its attack. Few significant losses were suffered by the Qatari Air Force and the US base at Al Udeid.

“I’m pleased to report that hardly any harm was done to Americans,” and that no one else was hurt. The most important thing is that they have eliminated everything from their “system”,” Trump wrote three hours after the attack.

He made the ceasefire announcement just two hours later.

“CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE!” Israel and Iran have fully agreed that a complete and total CEASEFIRE will occur (in approximately 6 hours after Israel and Iran have finished their final missions that are still in progress)! Trump stated on Truth Social, his social media platform, that he was “(.

Trump later revealed that “I almost simultaneously approached me and Iran and said, “Peace!”

The Iranian government made a statement early on Tuesday that it had “dedicated a humiliating and exemplary response to the enemy’s cruelty” and that it had framed the ceasefire as a “national decision to impose the cessation of war on the Zionist enemy and its vile supporters.

How do Qatar’s relations with Iran and the US stand?

Qatar, which is the world’s largest airbase, has collaborated closely with Washington on a number of contentious diplomatic negotiations, including those involving Hamas in Gaza and the Taliban in Afghanistan.

It has close diplomatic and economic ties to Iran at the same time. Energy expert Roudi Baroudi, a Qatari and Iranian-based energy expert, stated that “the South Pars, North Pars, and North Field have been a joint venture] for a long time, lasting for over 25 years.

According to Baroudi, the South Pars gas field holds almost as much gas as the other known gas fields on the planet.

Trump thanked the Qatari emir shortly after he announced the ceasefire.

He wrote on Truth Social, “I’d like to thank the Highly Respected Emir of Qatar for everything he has done to bring peace to the region.” Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called the Qatari emir on Tuesday to “regret” the attack the day before.

Pezehkian made it clear that Iran’s strikes did not target Qatar and its citizens. The emir’s office stated in a statement that the State of Qatar will continue to be a neighboring, Muslim, and sisterly state and that he hopes that all interactions between the two nations will always be based on the principles of respect for the sovereignty of states and good neighborliness.

Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, the prime minister of Qatar, stated on Wednesday that “Qatar made significant diplomatic efforts to calm tensions with regional and international partners.”

And Baroudi predicted that those efforts will have a significant impact beyond just Iran and Israel.

Because the Gulf is a powder keg of highly flammable oil and gas wellheads, offloading terminals, and tankers, he claimed, “Washington and Doha defused an unseen economic and ecological bomb.”
