The Federal Government has launched an investigation into a viral video showing alleged neglect of accident victims at the Emergency Unit of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, Abuja.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, showed victims of a road accident reportedly left unattended by hospital staff members after being brought in by a good Samaritan.
The good Samaritan, who recorded the footage, claimed he found the victims on the road and transported them to the hospital for urgent care.
He alleged that hospital staff refused to provide immediate assistance, with one citing a lack of gloves.
However, minutes later, as also seen in the video, some hospital staffers were seen assisting in lifting one of the severely injured victims into the emergency unit.

Other victims, despite their injuries, were also seen leap-walking into the unit on their own.
In response, the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Obadiah Gana, in a statement on Sunday, confirmed that the hospital has begun a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
Preliminary findings, according to the hospital, indicate that the emergency department had an adequate supply of essential medical items, including gloves, resuscitation equipment, and medications.
The hospital also stated that there were no shortages of trolleys or wheelchairs and that interactions with on-duty staff and other stakeholders are ongoing.
In a post marking her son Benji’s first birthday this week, Daisy May Cooper seemingly revealed that her legal surname is still the same as her ex-husband, Will Weston

Daisy May Cooper has seemingly shared her real legal name as she posted a sweet throwback photo on social media.
The actress and writer, who won the 2018 BAFTA TV Award for Best Female Comedy Performance for playing Kerry Mucklowe in the BBC Three series This Country, has always been known by the surname Cooper since rising to fame. However, in a post shared this week, she revealed that her surname is actually Weston.
The photo, shared by Daisy on her Instagram Stories on Friday, is an image of her hospital visit on June 6, 2024, when she gave birth to her son Benji. She wrote: “1 year ago today at 03.04am we welcomed our baby boy into the world.”

In the snap, her full name is written as Daisy May Weston – the surname of her ex-husband, Will Weston. The pair married in The Cotswolds in September 2019 and they share to children to whom they are “both devoted parents”.
However, they decided to part ways in 2021 after the Covid-19 lockdown “shone a spotlight” on their marital difficulties. Daisy, 38, is now in a relationship with her new partner, Anthony Huggins, who is Benji’s father.

The couple met on dating app Hinge in December 2021 and welcomed their child a year ago. When her youngest son was born, Daisy announced the news via Instagram and detailed how the little one arrived earlier than planned, penning: “You came a bit earlier than we expected and gave me the worst post op constipation that I nearly had to phone the Samaritans but my god you are perfect.
“I cannot thank @deliverysuitegrh enough. The way you looked after us through such a scary time was above and beyond.” Daisy’s pregnancy was announced in March last year when she and Anthony packed on PDA while shopping for baby clothes in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.

The couple held hands when they stepped out for a spot of shopping, with the actress’ bump on full display in a figure-hugging all-black look. The pair could barely keep their hands off one another while making the most of the sunny weather, and Daisy was seen heartily laughing as they went about their day.
At the time, a source said: “Daisy is pregnant and is really excited to become a mum for the third time with her new partner. The pair have been going strong, so the addition of a baby will only bring them closer together.” Then earlier this year, the couple sparked engagement rumours after Daisy was spotted wearing a diamond rock on her ring finger.
Speculation that Anthony had popped the question began in February when Daisy was promoting her BBC series Am I Being Unreasonable? on her Instagram Stories and referred to Anthony as her “fiancé” for the first time. In a clip, she jested that her “fit fiancé and baby daddy” would make an appearance on screen.

It was reported at the beginning of the year that Daisy and Anthony were happily engaged and “over the moon” with the news after a secret proposal. A source told The Sun at the time: “Daisy and Anthony are madly in love with each other and are a success story for dating apps. Their relationship has gone from strength to strength and already have a baby boy together.”
In addition to son Benji, Daisy shares children Pip, five, and Jack, three, with her ex Will. After their break-up, Daisy admitted to The Times: “Will is amazing, an incredible, incredible dad – but fundamentally, there wasn’t real love there, I don’t think there ever was, really.” She went on to reveal that the lockdown “shone a spotlight” on their marital difficulties” and that she needed to be by herself after the strains of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The rock legend wrote on Instagram : “This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire. I love what I do, and I do what I love. I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 metres in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”
Discussing what he sees for the future, the musical icon added: “I’d like to move onto a Great American Songbook, Swing Fever tour the year after next – smaller venues and more intimacy. But then again, I may not…”.
French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz says he will “let the people decide” if his comeback victory against Jannik Sinner is one of the greatest matches of all time.
Spain’s Alcaraz saved three championship points in the fourth set before securing a 4-6 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (10-2) win after five hours and 29 minutes.
The 22-year-old had never previously come back from two sets down at a major.
The quality, tension and excitement of the contest between a standout pair who are creating an absorbing rivalry has led to comparisons with other classic encounters in the sport.
“If people put our match in that [bracket], it’s a huge honour for me,” said five-time major champion Alcaraz.
“I don’t know if it is at the same level as those matches. I let the people talk about whether they are almost the same.
“I’m just happy to put our match and our names in the history of the Grand Slams and in the history of Roland Garros.
World number one Sinner has been the dominant player on the ATP Tour over the past 18 months, opening up a commanding lead at the top of the rankings.
The Italian had not lost from two sets up since Novak Djokovic beat him in the 2022 Wimbledon quarter-finals.
Sinner led 5-3 in the fourth set and had three championship points on Alcaraz’s serve, but the Spaniard never lost belief.
Alcaraz, who has now won back-to-back titles at Roland Garros, says he was “not thinking about” the score as he fought back from the brink.
“I just put my heart into it,” said Alcaraz.
“I tried to keep going, not thinking about the result and just to put up my best tennis.
Sinner ‘won’t keep crying’ after defeat
Sinner was aiming for a third successive Grand Slam triumph, having won the US Open at the end of last year and then defended his Australian Open title in January.
The 23-year-old’s level over the past fortnight – he arrived in the final having not dropped a set – was even more impressive considering he is still in the early stages of his comeback.
Sinner served a three-month ban from February to May for failing two doping tests last year and only played one tournament before Roland Garros.
“My level has improved since Rome. As I said before the match, my main goal was to see where it is at,” he said.
“Only making [the] final is difficult to accept now but this is the good part of the sport. Today I also had the sad part.
“But if you watch only the sad part, you’re never going to come back.
“I believe I have improved as a player since last year. We try to keep pushing.”

He plans to get over the defeat by spending time with his family before turning his attentions to the grass-court season.
His mother Siglinde was sat on Court Philippe Chatrier but could barely watch at times, while father Johann, a chef, was unable to attend because he was working.
“We are just a very simple family. Nothing of our success changes in the family,” Sinner added.
“It was nice to see my mum here. I guess my dad was watching on TV – if he finished work.
“As I always said before my career started, I never would have thought to find myself in this position.
“It was not even a dream because it was so far and was not thinking about this.
Oscar nominated actress Demi Moore was slammed by some fans for how she interacted with the three baby ducks she rescued, amid concern for the welfare of the animals
Demi Moore shared she’d rescued some baby ducks and they’d met her dog Pilaf(Image: Instagram )
Actress Demi Moore has divided fans after revealing she has rescued three baby ducks. The 62-year-old animal lover, who is said to have nine pet dogs, took to Instagram to share a cute snap with the ducklings.
Tucking the baby mallards into her jacket, a smiling Demi shared they had already made friends with her Chihuahua Pilaf, who she often shares photos of. Her daughters and granddaughter were also spotted getting to know the ducklings in a series of pics posted to her social media account.
The Substance star captioned the post: “Duck, duck… Pilaf! We rescued three orphaned baby mallard ducklings! With the help and guidance of my local vet we are working to nurture them until they are old enough to be reintroduced to their natural habitat. It has been a messy joy, but Pilaf is loving her new friends.”
Though some of her celebrity followers like Paris Hilton and Jennifer Garner commented with heart emojis and Tom Hanks wife Rita Wilson wrote “Oh my goodness! How sweet is this?” – not everybody agreed with it.

One follower wrote: “This is not ok. Wild mallards should be rehabbed by wildlife rehabber. Her vet should have known that. Sorry.. cute but imprinted…” Agreeing, another replied: “Correct. Handling these ducks is not a good rehab practice. They should NEVER be subjected to all that handling.”

A third person commented: “Yeah this is messed up, these ducks need to go to a wildlife rehab.” A fourth said: “Just because a celebrity thinks its cute doesn’t make it right.” While a fifth asked: “What happened to mom! If they imprint to you – there is no way you should release them. That will work against them in the wild as they follow humans around. Talk to a wildlife rehab facility.”
But others leapt to Demi’s defence, with one writing: “Those ducks will most likely live because of her. And all you can do is b***h and complain. Get a life and follow someone else.”
Another chimed in: “What if a rehab person is actually filming this before taking them away….what if this is being filmed at rehab facility….what if….. I would give a person benefit of doubt before criticizing [sic] or attacking them. Three little ducklings following a person. That is all that you can say with certainty.”

The Mirror has reached out to Demi’s reps for further comment on this story.
Demi is known for her love of animals and is often spotted with what seems to be her favourite dog Pilaf. The pint-sized pooch – said to be a similar size to a guinea pig – even accompanied her famous owner to a recent awards ceremony.
Pilaf was seen walking the red carpet with Demi at the Film Independent Spirit Awards back in February. Movie star Demi has joked Pilaf’s fame is now so big it’s eclipsed her own. She said: “The truth is, I am her accessory.”
She has also appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s chat show with Demi. Introducing Pilaf to the audience, Demi shared: “This is Pilaf, the little mouse. She is a pound and a half. She’s the runt of her litter. She’s a magical creature.” Jimmy replied: “She is. I met her backstage and her tongue permanently hangs out.” Demi replied: “It does. She lost the teeth that hold it in, but it’s part of her charm.
Demi admitted she also sleeps with her dogs – and that might be why she’s currently single. She shared: “If anybody saw my nighttime routine, if it was filmed, they would really see how eccentric I am.

“I have to prop pillows so the ones that are this size have the ability to get under the covers. I have two beds for the little ones so that they have the beds within the bed. Hence why I’m single!”

Portugal beat long-time rivals Spain 5-3 on penalties to clinch their second UEFA Nations League title.
Portugal twice went behind in regulation time but twice fought back to level the scores.

This was also Portugal’s manager, Roberto Martinez’s first international trophy.

The brilliant Nuno Mendes levelled things up five minutes later.
Mikel Oyarzabal, Spain’s goalscorer in the Euro 2024 final and the 2023 Nations League final, put La Roja back in front just before the break.
Cristiano Ronaldo, quiet as he had been before scoring the winner against Germany in the semis, equalised with 61 minutes gone, adjusting quickly after a Mendes cross was deflected into the air, muscling past Marc Cucurella and volleying the dropping ball home.

Ronaldo was subbed off before full-time with cramp. Even though Portugal had the better of extra time, the match went to penalties.
Both sides converted their first three spot kicks. Mendes buried Portugal’s fourth, before Morata stepped up and shot straight at Diogo Costa.
Neves nervelessly converted in front of the red and green of the Portugal fans. The victory was just Portugal’s second competitive win over Iberian rival Spain in their long history.
Portugal’s only other win over Spain in a competitive fixture was a 1-0 victory which booted the Spaniards out of Euro 2004, with a 19-year-old Ronaldo on the left wing.
Portugal became the first two-time winner of the Nations League, launched in 2018. It was Portugal’s third major title, along with Euro 2016.

– Portugal equalise twice –
While Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal’s fluid movement troubled the Portugese defence early in the match, La Roja’s opener was scrappy.
Yamal chipped from outside the box and the Portugal defence froze, botching a clearance which fell to Zubimendi, who leathered the ball into the net.
The goal was just rewards for Spain’s early dominance, but Portugal hit back almost immediately.

Mendes, put through by Pedro Neto, drilled a low shot across the goal and in.
Just before halftime, Spain picked Portugal’s pocket in their own half before advancing. Pedri linked with Oyarzabal, who threaded the ball past Diogo Costa.
Oyarzabal’s goal meant he has scored in three international finals — against England at Euro 2024, which Spain won, and the 2023 and 2025 Nations Leagues, which Spain lost.
Ronaldo had done little other than encourage the heavily Portuguese crowd until that point but would pick his moment to strike.
With 61 minutes gone, Mendes shed a defender and whipped in a cross. The ball took a deflection and Ronaldo outmuscled Cucurella before lashing a volley home.

The goal was Ronaldo’s fourth in 10 matches against Spain. The previous three all coming in a wild 3-3 draw at the 2018 World Cup.
Limping in the dying stages of regulation time, Ronaldo fell to the turf with three minutes left and signalled to the bench that his night was over.
Spain may have been confident when the match went to extra time, having won on penalties in 2023, but Portugal were faultless, Neves stepping up and converting to send his teammates, including a hobbled Ronaldo, streaming onto the pitch.
