BBC Radio 1 star Vick Hope was showered with presents as she temporarily bid farewell to her co-stars before heading on maternity leave. After weeks of quiet speculation and subtle online clues, Vick Hope only recently confirmed that she and husband Calvin Harris are expecting their first child together.

“This is my final week,” she told listeners during her drive time slot with co-hosts Jamie Laing and Katie Thistleton this week. “I wanted to share that with you because we’ve had such a lovely time over the last few weeks. That time is coming to an end for a bit because I’m going on maternity leave next week.”

Jamie quickly added his support, saying: “You’re an amazing friend, an amazing person, and you’re just going to be an amazing mum.” Vick also took the opportunity to explain why she never made a formal announcement, despite ongoing curiosity from fans and media.

“This is not an announcement, by the way. People keep saying are you going to announce, are you going to announce? And I’m like, I’m not the King. I do not see the point, it’s not for me,” she said.

“I’ll be honest, I struggle with anything that’s personal or private. I will tell you a story about eating a kebab out of a bin, that’s one thing. But there’s a line and so I’ve never been that big on sharing. Particularly because I’ve just been enjoying this privately and quietly.”

On Tuesday, Vick took to her Instagram page to share the love she received from her co-stars before heading on maternity leave. She shared snaps of herself posing with co-star Jamie giggling.

She had had arm wrapped around his shoulder as he laughed and pointed at the camera. Vick also shared a snap of the red velvet cake her co-stars got for her as well as a few presents.

In the snaps, she rocked a gorgeous baby blue floor-length dress that accentuated her baby bump. She captioned the post: “Final @bbcradio1 Going Home show with just the two of us for a little while, it’s been such an absolute blast!

“Thank you for the love and the laughs these last few months sweet sweet @jamielaing, all the team, and of course our amazing listeners. Legends, the lot of ya.”

Jamie also shared a message for Vick, explaining: “To the sweetest soul, who goes on maternity leave today – what a blast we’ve had.

“You’re kind, caring, patient and put up with everything I do. Thank you for sharing your broadcasting secrets and thank you for being an all round legend!! Will miss you dude!”

Many shared their support for her, including Mollie King, Jamie Laing, Sophie Habboo, Giovanna Fletcher, and Ashley Louise James.

Kardashians react to ‘mean’ Justin Bieber telling wife Hailey she’d never get Vogue cover

The Kardashians have thrown their support behind Hailey Bieber after her husband, Justin Bieber, admitted he once told his wife she would never be on the cover of Vogue. The Sorry star, 31, made the revelation after Hailey bagged her first cover of the iconic magazine, which is available to buy now.

After posting her proud photo on Instagram in which the mum-of-one, 28, poses to perfection wearing an open striped shirt, no underwear and slicked back hair, Hailey was met with a wave of approval by her Kardashian friends. Kim told the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin she was “obsessed” and that she looked “so beautiful”. Meanwhile, Kylie Jenner replied: “SO beautiful” while Kendall Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian both liked the post.

Justin, who recently rocked up at an ice hockey game with Hailey in Canada, has been slammed after admitting to his cruel comment after he revealed how he told his wife and mum of his son, Jack Blues, that she would never grace the cover of Vogue during a heated argument.

Responding to her cover shot for the US edition of the magazine on Instagram, he mused: “‘Yo, this reminds me when Hailey and I got into a huge fight, I told Hails that she would never be on the cover of Vogue. Yikes, I know, so mean. For some reason because I felt so disrespected, I thought I gotta get even.

“Think as we mature we realise that we’re not helping anything by getting even, we’re honestly just prolonging what we really want which is intimacy and connection.”

He concluded his post by writing a message directly to Hailey, which read: “So baby u already know but forgive me for saying u wouldn’t get a Vogue cover cuz clearly I was sadly mistaken.”

Following his reaction, many of the singer’s fans called him out for divulging such ‘unnecessary information’. One replied: “It’s okay to have secrets Justin,” as another wrote: “You couldn’t waterboard this information out of me lmao.”

Meanwhile, a third urged: “Why would you write something like that… put that phone down please.”

Others criticised him for accidentally writing ‘sadly mistaken’ rather than ‘happily’ mistaken, since Justin presumably meant to congratulate ‘Hails’ on the achievement.

Despite the singer’s awkward response to his wife bagging her first Vogue cover, Justin did praise Hailey in an interview with the magazine.

The Baby star, who has concerned fans recently with his dishevelled appearance amid rumours he and Hailey may be headed for divorce, said: “I’ve done a lot of dumb things in my life, but the smartest thing I’ve ever done was marry Hailey.”

The Canadian star also shared he loves family life with the couple’s son, gushing: “I’m walking in the days I always dreamed of.”

Giving her take on the couple’s relationship, Hailey insisted they were still very much together, but admitted the constant chatter about them was ‘exhausting’, saying: “And to be doing that all the while going on the internet every day and people being like, They’re getting divorced and They’re this and They’re not happy: It is such a mindf***. I cannot even begin to explain it. It’s a crazy life to live.

How do you prepare for a cup final of this magnitude?

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are about to face each other in a £100m sliding-doors Europa League final in Bilbao.

They are currently 16th and 17th in the Premier League, directly above the relegation places. Between them, they have lost an incredible 39 times in the league this season.

But Bilbao brings a shot at redemption.

For Spurs, it would mean a first trophy since the 2008 League Cup. United, meanwhile, are aiming for their first European trophy since their Europa League triumph in 2017. For the fans it is huge.

But for the people running the respective clubs it is bigger. The prize for victory is a place in next season’s Champions League. At a conservative estimate, it would generate a £100m increase in revenue.

The pressure at the San Mames stadium will be immense.

How do you approach the days before?

There has been a divergence in approach. For a start, when they played their last match before the final within 45 minutes of each other on Friday, the respective managers opted for very different strategies.

Postecoglou played a completely different team at Aston Villa compared with the one that beat Bodo/Glimt in the second leg of their semi-final. He left key centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero out of the squad entirely.

“I don’t understand why they are gripped by fear, both managers will want to go into the cup final with momentum,” said ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton.

“It’s just that selection fear where Postecoglou won’t play Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven – but will they be undercooked?”

Amorim went strong. Even following the return to training of Diogo Dalot, Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro on Tuesday, other than Mason Mount and speculation around striker Rasmus Hojlund, it felt very much like the team who will start the final.

“I don’t know the context of Tottenham. What I know is the last game against Bilbao, we had that game and then we rested some players because we were afraid of some injuries,” said Amorim.

“Then we had a full week to prepare for the game and I felt, with five days to the final, the best thing to prepare for the final was to give time to the players – the best way to prepare something is to compete.”

Tottenham held a team barbecue at their Hotspur Way training ground at the weekend, which Postecoglou says was player-driven, before arriving in Bilbao on Monday afternoon, taking up residence in a hotel right in the heart of the city.

“It was very important, being together, talking about life,” said captain Son Heung-min. “It feels like we are getting even closer.”

“This bonding experience is very important,” added right-back Pedro Porro. “The team is like our family. It’s very good to talk about life with our team-mates, too.”

United arrived a day later and opted to stay slightly further away from the stadium – only three miles, so not exactly a long journey.

United also decided against taking up the option of a final training session in the match stadium. Most clubs these days don’t train in the matchday venue before European games.

The benefits of this are twofold. Firstly, it is far easier to keep their own training grounds secure and stop the opposition spying on them. Secondly, there is familiarity and ease of access to equipment, such as drones, that are now a vital part of team preparation.

In all likelihood, Tottenham won’t do anything of note in their final session at the San Mames stadium. But it will allow them to get the feel of the iconic ground.

United will do a walk round instead. In fairness, it is only three weeks since they beat Athletic Club 3-0 there in the first leg of their semi-final, so the need to get accustomed to their surroundings is not the same.

What’s the day of the game like?

Team meetings and rest, interspersed with a lunchtime stroll, are the recognised ways of passing the time until it comes to leaving for the stadium on match night, arriving about 90 minutes before kick-off.

It is that point at which key figures in the dressing room step up.

Gary Pallister, a member of the United team which beat Crystal Palace in the 1990 FA Cup final to secure the first – and most pivotal – trophy of Sir Alex Ferguson’s Old Trafford career – remembers the influence captain Bryan Robson had in those moments.

“When Robbo was there, we were a different team,” said Pallister. “He was injured so often that season. But when he played, you could almost feel it in the dressing room ‘Robbo’s here, everything will be OK. He will sort it out’.

“We were a team that relied on that. Over time, we had to learn to play without him but at that point, when he was out of the team, I felt we were a bit rudderless.

“He had played in two finals by then, whereas for me, I was going out to play in the biggest match [of the year], the game we grew up with as kids, the most special day of the year.

“I was thinking about my parents in the crowd, your friends and family, the ‘Oh my God, I am playing live in front of the whole nation’. That brings its own nervousness.

“But that day at Wembley, Robbo was such a calming influence. He spoke to us and settled us down, on and off the pitch.”

Lilian Thuram was a key member of France’s 1998 World Cup-winning side, helping the hosts beat Brazil 3-0 in the final in Paris – a game that was preceded by rumours that the visitors’ star man Ronaldo would miss out.

“We were all convinced it was a ploy by the Brazilians to make us believe that Ronaldo wouldn’t be able to play,” said Thuram. “We thought ‘no way, Ronaldo is playing the match, they are just making this up to try and fool us’.

“During the match you are so completely focused on the task in hand, you are not really aware whether a player is at their top level or not. You can’t worry about whether Ronaldo is off today.”

Despite suffering from a convulsion hours before the final. Ronaldo did play, but France overcame their pre-tournament doubters to prevail as world champions for the first time.

“There were an awful lot of top-level players who had played a lot of finals, we knew if you wanted to win you needed to block out the noise and drama around it and prepare for the match that was coming,” added Thuram.

Aftermath – joy and relief or despair?

The prize for Spurs and United, as outlined, is a big one – the difference between success and failure is huge.

“I can’t think of one in recent seasons where the extremes are so polar opposite,” said Sutton, a Premier League winner with Blackburn.

“That really adds to the occasion and the pressure. I can’t remember a game which was so highly pressurised for both teams.”

On Saturday, Crystal Palace beat Manchester City to win the FA Cup – it had taken 35 years to get their hands on the trophy after missing out in 1990. For United, it was the start of something big.

Even though their only significant addition in that summer was Denis Irwin, with a teenage Lee Sharpe also starting to emerge, United were a different team from then on.

They finished sixth in the league in 1991 and won the European Cup Winners’ Cup, beating a Barcelona side who would go on to win the European Cup the following year.

And after blowing the race for the league title 1992, they finally won it in 1993.

Something unquantifiable happened in 1990 that went far beyond winning a single match.

“Even before the final in 1990, the gaffer used to say ‘winning a trophy will give you a kick-start’,” said Pallister. “I am guessing that was from his Aberdeen days as they progressed and broke the Old Firm [Celtic and Rangers].

“The FA Cup was massive back then. Winning it gives the dressing room such a boost. It gives you belief you can win. Once you had that, it gave you the momentum to go into the following season.

“From that, we beat Barcelona. It gave us the certainty we could get better and we could push on. That is what we did.”

France’s World Cup victory in 1998, meanwhile, not only set the platform for European Championship success two years later, but the diverse, multi-cultural Les Bleus squad united a country that was conflicted over issues of immigration and discrimination.

“Those memories will be with me forever,” said Thuram. “All of the different people of France who came out to celebrate that team, it is something that keeps me going – that there was a big group of people within the country that believed in that team and what it represented.

“That victory in 1998 helped to give people greater courage and that desire to speak out about equality and injustice, and to demand greater equality.”

George Wendt’s Cheers co-stars lead tributes to ‘hilarious’ actor after tragic death

George Wendt’s heartbroken Cheers co-stars have paid tribute after the legendary sitcom actor sadly died aged 76 at his home earlier this week

Actor George Wendt’s death prompted an outpouring of grief and remembrance from colleagues and friends, led by his longtime Cheers co-stars, who described the Norm Peterson actor as a gifted performer, a generous friend, and a gentle soul

The 76-year-old died peacefully in his sleep at his home, his family confirmed. Wendt’s death prompted an outpouring of grief and remembrance from colleagues and friends, led by his longtime Cheers co-stars, who described him as a gifted performer, a generous friend, and a gentle soul.

Ted Danson, who starred as bartender Sam Malone throughout all 11 seasons of the sitcom from 1982 to 1993, spoke of his devastation. “I am devastated to hear that Georgie is no longer with us. I am sending all my love to Bernadette and the children. It is going to take me a long time to get used to this. I love you, Georgie,” Danson said.

Wendt’s portrayal of Norm – the laid-back, beer-loving accountant who always occupied the same stool at the bar- became one of the most recognisable and endearing characters in US television history. The moment he walked through the door, greeted by the resounding call of “Norm” from everyone inside, became a defining hallmark of the show’s appeal.

John Ratzenberger, who played Norm’s best friend and bar regular Cliff Clavin, also reflected on the deep camaraderie the two shared, both on screen and off. “For 11 years on Cheers, we shared a stage, a lot of laughs and a front-row seat to one of television’s most beloved friendships. George brought Norm to life with a subtle brilliance – the kind that made it look easy. That was his gift,” Ratzenberger said.

“He was a true craftsman – humble, hilarious and full of heart. What you saw on screen was exactly who he was off screen with impeccable comedic timing and a deep loyalty to those he loved,” he added. “I’ll miss our conversations and the quiet moments of friendship that meant the most. My thoughts are with his wife Bernadette, their children, and everyone who loved him.”

Rhea Perlman, who played the wisecracking waitress Carla Tortelli, described Wendt as “the sweetest, kindest man I ever met.” “It was impossible not to like him,” Perlman said. “As Carla, I was often standing next to him, as Norm always took the same seat at the end of the bar, which made it easy to grab him and beat the crap out of him at least once a week. I loved doing it, and he loved pretending it didn’t hurt. What a guy! I’ll miss him more than words can say.”

Wendt’s character Norm was a constant throughout Cheers’ 11-year run and appeared in every single episode alongside Danson and Perlman. Norm’s sardonic humour, world-weary wisdom, and bottomless beer mug endeared him to audiences across generations.

Wendt received six consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for the role. Beyond the cast, his passing was also marked by tributes from Boston itself, particularly the Bull & Finch Pub, the real-life bar that inspired the fictional setting of Cheers.

Located in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighbourhood, the pub became a pilgrimage site for show fans and eventually adopted the Cheers name in its signage and branding.

On Tuesday, staff at Cheers Boston paid a quiet tribute by reserving Norm’s seat at the bar and placing a cold glass of beer in front of it – Norm’s drink of choice. A small sign was added to mark the seat in Wendt’s honour.

Fans gathered outside the pub to take photos, leave flowers, and share stories of how Norm had brought laughter and comfort to their lives. Inside, the bar played reruns of Cheers, filling the room with familiar laughter and fond memories.

Wendt is survived by his wife of over four decades, actress Bernadette Birkett, and their children. He was also the uncle of Emmy-winning actor Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis.

One Dead As Trailer Crashes Into Market Along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

After a truck reportedly failed to brake and crashed into the busy Isheri Market in the OPIC bus stop along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Wednesday morning, one person has been confirmed dead, others injured, and properties destroyed.

A motorcyclist who witnessed the incident claimed the truck’s driver lost control as it approached the OPIC area as a result of a broken brake.

A container coming from Lagos made it to the OPIC bus stop while I was at the roundabout at the airport. The motorcyclists claim that when he attempted to enter the estate, there was no traffic on the express, and that he did not have the brakes before colliding with the market and killing a person.

When questioned about the truck driver’s intentions, the eyewitness responded, “No one was chasing him; it was only him that was coming.”

Isheri market collapse

By swerving to the right, the truck reportedly made an effort to avoid hitting the estate gate, but instead it slammed into market stalls, hurting innocent victims and destroying goods and structures in its path.

A local tea shop owner who was only serving his regular customers at the time of the accident is the only one who has been confirmed as the fatality.

A night security guard at the market who was one of the injured victims shared his account of the truck’s collision.

“This place’s security guard is me. Because I work night shifts, I have to get up early to get my people to wake up before they even begin their day.

“I had just called the tea store to give me tea, and I only experienced it once when I audible loud noises.” The truck pushed me as I leaned up, and I fell.

“It’s because God saved me that I fell to the right, and if I had followed the other side, I would have perished,” said the statement. The person who makes me tea is also a deceased one.

The total number of injured people is not yet known.

A van and a Sienna were among the two parked vehicles, according to witnesses, who were able to lessen the impact of the collision. The trucks were stationed in front of the market, which is believed to have slowed the truck down, preventing further fatalities.

Local authorities and emergency personnel are still working on the wreckage while the damage is being assessed.

Gunmen Attack Kogi Community Again, Abduct Four Persons

Four people were abducted from Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State’s Okoloke, an agrarian community, for the third time in seven days.

An unidentified number of armed men stormed the area on Tuesday morning in the early hours of the incident.

The attackers allegedly entered Ezekiel Durojaiye’s residence, which is a retired and well-known community leader, in nearby Okunran village.

At gunpoint, the attackers kidnapped Pa Durojaiye and three others before shooting them in the bush. Residents are now more enraged and in fear as a result of the incident.

Recently, Yagba West has become a hotspot for kidnapping. Oba James Dada Ogunyamda, the village’s traditional ruler, was kidnapped on Thursday by gunmen.

Two vigilante members and a third person were also abducted three days after the monarch was taken.

Eight people have been abducted from the same community in a single week as a result of the most recent attack.

The 90-year-old monarch’s kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of N100 million, which was later reduced to N50 million. Since then, his family has contacted the government, businesses, and the general public for assistance in raising the funds.
