Kneecap star Liam O’Hanna charged with terrorism after flag display at concert

A member of Irish band Kneecap was accused of staging a flag in support of Hezbollah at a concert in London in November and being charged with terrorism.

According to the Metropolitan Police, Liam O’Hanna, who co-hosts the rap trio Mo Chara, has been charged with his deeds.

The Belfast-born musician, 27, was charged following a counter-terrorism investigation led by the force. On June 18, he will show up at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

The artist was accused of displaying a flag at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, North London, on November 21 in “in such a way or under such circumstances as to arouse reasonable suspicion that he supports a proscribed organization,” the statement read.

The Met’s counter-terrorism command was informed of an online video from the event on April 22 according to the force. The Crown Prosecution Service approved the above charge after conducting an investigation.

Concerts by the group have been postponed, including one at the Eden Project in Cornwall on July 4 because concert footage appeared to show a group member yelling “up Hamas, up Hezbollah.” One allegedly calls for the murder of Conservative MPs in another video.

The group, which was made up of Liam Og O Hannaidh, Naoise O Caireallain, and JJ O Dochartaigh, has been the subject of a counter-terrorism police investigation after the videos, which were shot in 2023 and 2024, were made public.

The group apologized to the families of the murdered MPs who had watched the videos, but claimed that the incident’s footage had been “exploited and weaponized,” and that they had never supported Hamas or Hezbollah, both of which are illegal in the UK.

We express our sincere regrets to the Amess and Cox families because we never intended to hurt you.

Kneecap was reportedly requested by Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch, while other politicians demanded that the group be removed from the Glastonbury Festival lineup.

After Sharon Osbourne told them to “be more like Bono,” the band recently responded with a blunt apology.

Kneecap issued a statement in response to Sharon’s initial remarks. The statement read, “Tomorrowing 20, 000 children is not an aggressive statement.

After the band’s formation, Sharon publicly expressed her beliefs on Kneecap using Coachella in an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored. “Can’t give a damn what you believe in but don’t bring it to a musical festival where there’s peace,” is my entire position. She asserted that music unites people and that it doesn’t separate people.

It’s completely insane that this should continue where young people are drinking or engaging in whatever they want to do; it’s their business, but don’t use their fists to incite violence. Their entire attitude is angry, not peaceful.

Tinubu Celebrates Two British-Nigerians Elected As London Mayors

Two British-Nigerians who were recently sworn in as mayors of London, Opeyemi Bright and Jason Jackson, are congratulated by President Bola Tinubu, saying their accomplishments demonstrate how positively Nigerians in the diaspora continue to influence society.

The Special Adviser to the President for Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, and Tinubu praised them for “maintaining the legacy of good works by Nigerians in the diaspora” and for upholding values like honesty, integrity, hard work, and commitment to public service in a press release released on Wednesday.

Their tales, in the president’s opinion, are bound to inspire countless young people, both domestically and abroad, to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

“I wish the mayors Opeyemi Bright and Jason Jackson my heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the government and the people of Nigeria. As the first residents of Barking, Dagenham, and Islington, I urge you to keep giving your best in your new roles.

Tinubu stated, “I have every confidence in your abilities and look forward to the positive impact you will make in your respective boroughs.”

Bright, 29, became Barking and Dagenham’s youngest civic mayor ever.

Her inauguration comes after seven years of dedicated service to her community, starting in 2018 with the 22-year-old who became the borough’s youngest Labour councillor.

Jackson also set a noteworthy precedent by becoming the first mayor of Islington since the borough’s founding in 1900.

Jackson quickly rose up the ranks to become the chair of Islington’s Homes and Communities Committee in 2023 after being elected as a councillor in 2022.

Reacting New Mayors

Jackson reflected on his transition from his native Nigerian roots to becoming Islington’s first citizen in a response to his swearing-in in an Instagram post.

Islington’s mayor sworn in as such on October 1st. Family and friends from all over the world came to celebrate and remember it as a proud, humbling, and unforgettable experience.

This is more than just a personal milestone, according to the first citizen of Islington, a small Nigerian village. No dream is too far away with faith, community, and determination, as it is exemplified.

I’m here to serve with passion and purpose as mayor. I’ll promote our diverse communities, help young families, boost local businesses, and make sure everyone in Islington feels heard, he wrote.

Opeyemi Bright’s heartfelt post entitled “History Made” also honored her inauguration as mayor of Barking and Dagenham.

She remarked, “A memorable day as I was elected Barking and Dagenham mayor.” Every step is covered when you first set out on a journey with God at your heart. I’m 29 years old and have made the decision to leave my corporate career to serve the Borough where I was raised, now your mayor.

“Barking and Dagenham is my family, my heart, and my community.” I’m honored to be there. Being mayor is more than just a title; it’s a commitment to be heard, seen, and helped improve every neighborhood of our city.

I’ll be visiting our schools, working with our residents, supporting local businesses, walking our high streets, and honoring the residents and places that make Barking and Dagenham unique. We’ll talk, raise our voices, and continue to advance our borough together. God’s blessings on Barking and Dagenham. Her Worshipful Mayor, “

Since the announcement of their new roles, Nigerians have congratulated the mayors in numerous ways.

Good Morning Britain anchor Kate Garraway has been left “shocked” she is still heavily in debt after new paperwork from HMRC showed loan debts of almost £140,000 remain from her late husband’s company as well as a £288,000 tax bill.

Astra Aspera’s statement of receipts and payments, released this week, reveals Kate is pressed to pay back several of Derek’s firm’s outstanding debts.

Despite receiving royalties of £37, 000, there is still a loan of £139, 849 that needs to be repaid, as well as a £288, 000 tax bill from HMRC.

HMRC claims Kate does not currently have the money to pay back, but the company no longer has any assets and that she is still making attempts to recover the money.

She has been working to get the money back, and sources close to her say the company’s employees are keen to point out that Derek’s loss of income and care for him haven’t helped her financially.

After battling for a long time with the long-term effects of Covid, Derek passed away in January of 2024 at the age of 56.

Kate has received all the requests from Derek’s company’s liquidators, including more, according to a Kate spokesman. She is shocked that they are presenting it in this manner because she doesn’t recognize these figures.

When Derek was forced to no longer run his own business, she was deeply financially strapped, but she is determined to put things right. She keeps in touch with HMRC to make sure Derek’s now-defunct company fulfills her obligations.

Kate has made it clear that Derek’s care has had a significant impact on her finances. She has acknowledged all of her difficulties along the way.

Kate has disclosed in full how much Derek’s care is going to cost.

In March 2022, Derek’s company, Astra Aspera Ltd., owed £716 822 to HMRC and £965 548 to four other creditors. Kate has since repaid some money, but she hasn’t been able to pay off all of her debts.

Speaking before her husband’s death, Kate had said in ITV documentary, Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story: “Derek’s care costs more than my salary from ITV and that is before you pay for a mortgage, before you pay any household bills, before you pay for anything for the kids, so we are at a crunch point.

I owe a lot of money. Because I oversee Derek’s care, I can’t even use the money I do have to pay for his recovery because it always goes on the “basics” to pay my debt.

Nigeria Rich In Agriculture, Has No Business In Poverty — Gov Bago

Umar Bago, the governor of Niger State, claimed that the country’s abundant agricultural resources can help its citizens escape economic hardship.

At the Taraba State Banquet Hall, TY Danjuma House in the state capital’s Jalingo, Gogo made this statement on Wednesday at the state capital’s capital, Jalingo.

He claimed that Nigeria’s fertile landmass had significant untapped potential.

He therefore demanded that the country use the agricultural potential to end poverty, calling on the Federal Government and individuals in the private sector to do so.

In Aliko Dangote’s speech, Aliko Dangote enumerated all the production factors that are inherent in Taraba State. Land, water, the sun, and people are all present.
We can farm 24/7, 365 days a year, but only for three months a year in Europe. In poverty, that is implying that we have no business. ”

In Taraba State, Bogo, who described himself as the “Chief Farmer of Nigeria,” made it clear that all the necessary land, water, sunlight, and manpower are abundantly present.

Gogo reaffirmed the support for development by regional governments in Taraba and throughout the nation.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the NGF chairman, is expressing his gratitude to Taraba State’s governor and the governor. He has asked me to reassure you that sub-nationals will work together to help Taraba State’s citizens develop, he added.

Governor Bago urged the state government to work with major construction companies to deploy their land-cultivation equipment, enabling widespread agricultural production.

He argued that by creating a favorable environment for business investment and capital procurement, the government should act as an enabler.

INCLUDE   Foreigners won’t invest in Nigeria – Dangote without local investors.

I want to see the state government work with large construction companies, as the governor of the state. Use those bulldozers and cumminated machinery to cultivate land and invite visitors to farm. ”

Bago reassured the local population that agricultural investments, whether local or foreign, won’t cause them to abandon. He also addressed potential fears about land exploitation.

Victoria Beckham has made a defiant claim about her parenting skills as the fallout saga with son Brooklyn Beckham rumbles on. Posh Spice, 51, spoke candidly about being a working mum during a Dubai trip days after hubby David celebrated turning 50 without his son and his wife, Nicola Peltz.

Despite avoiding talk of any feud with her eldest child, the mum-of-four opened up on her parenting techniques, saying she tries her “best” for her kids. Speaking during an interview with YouTube series REVIEWED BY OSA, the fashion designer answered host Osa Machabbi’s question: “Who is Victoria Beckham?”

“I want to think I’m a good wife and mother,” Victoria said. I make an effort to do the best I can. She continued, “I work hard. I believe I am a kind person. I have a strong sense of optimism. I adore positive energy.

Victoria reaffirmed that she has never been perfect and that she is not trying to be perfect. She stated, “I only want to be the best I can be.”

I’m willing to accept my shortcomings. Making the most of who you are is simple; I do that by eating well, exercising regularly, and dressing appropriately. I’m just trying to be the best me so that I can be the best wife, best professional, and best mother.

Victoria later admitted she has “self doubts,” but that she doesn’t let herself get weighed down by them. She said, “she said, before calling herself quite a humble person,” so I think an element of that is always good because, if not, I can see you would become incredibly haughty.

Her words come amid rumors of a Beckham family feud. Romeo, Cruz and Harper, Brooklyn and Nicola were nowhere to be seen, just as David and Victoria’s other children were. The close-knit clan’s involvement was sparked by speculation.

Both parties have spoken out about potential feuds, but their actions appear to speak for themselves as they continue to be apart. However, Victoria last week stated that a reunion is still possible while the door is still shut.

Victoria shared a sweet photo of her clan in which she tagged her estranged eldest son on social media. The singer uploadeda bittersweet throwback photo of her family to mark her dad’s birthday, including her currently estranged son, Brooklyn.

Is European pressure on Israel likely to make a difference?

As the EU threatens to review ties with Israel, the UK puts off trade talks.

Some of Israel’s most powerful allies are praising the country’s continued aggression in Gaza.

Both the UK and the EU are reviewing old agreements, and both are imposing sanctions on Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank.

The two countries say they can’t stand by while Israel expands its military and airstrikes and starves Palestinians in Gaza of its total blockade.

However, critics are asking why they didn’t intervene earlier.

Will new regulations be implemented?

Will any of this affect the Palestinians’ perception of reality on the ground?
