Roma accuse Zaniolo of ‘violent behaviour’

Former Aston Villa midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo has been accused of provoking Roma’s youth-team players, with one of them reportedly “physically struck” following a match on Monday.

The alleged incident happened after Fiorentina’s Under-20s beat their Roma counterparts in the Italian Primavera semi-final.

Zaniolo – who joined Fiorentina on loan from Galatasaray in February, having left Roma in 2023 – attended the match.

Roma alleged the 25-year-old entered their dressing room “despite lacking accreditation” after the match and “engaged in provocative behaviour towards some of the Giallorossi youth players”.

An updated club statement added: “Witnesses report Zaniolo appeared visibly intoxicated.

” He urinated in Roma facilities, provoked players and, without verbal exchange, physically struck Mattia Almaviva and violently pushed Marco Litti against a bench.

“Litti had recently undergone shoulder surgery. Both players required hospitalisation – Almaviva received a 10-day recovery prognosis, Litti 21 days.

” AS Roma stands firmly by its youth players and is appalled by the violent and unjustifiable behaviour witnessed at Viola Park.

“We trust that the institutions will act decisively to ensure accountability and protect the values of Italian football”.

Responding to the claims in a statement released by Fiorentina, Zaniolo said: “At the end of the match I went down to the locker room to congratulate the Fiorentina boys and then I went to the Roma locker room to say hello and congratulate them on the season.

” At a certain point they started insulting me so, at that point, to avoid the situation degenerating, I preferred to leave. “

The Italian international, who had a loan spell at Villa in the 2023-24 season, posted a statement on social media, saying” there was no physically aggressive behaviour, “and” the facts are far from what has been reconstructed”.

He added:” Unfortunately, I was verbally provoked by a boy and, mistakenly, I lost my temper.

“Having said that, I renew my apologies. As a man, as an athlete and as a person who loves this environment, I just want to rebuild and look ahead with humility”.

Strictly Come Dancing star Tasha Ghouri has found love once again, just four months after her split from Love Island co-star Andrew Le Page. The reality star is said to have mended her broken heart with the help of a CBBC presenter.

Tasha and Andrew met on the ITV2 dating show and carried on their romance on the outside world. They moved in together and became parents to a dog.

The pair even spoke about wedding bells in the future, however did not speak out when their breakup came to light earlier this year. Tasha was on the Strictly Come Dancing UK tour at the time, leaving Andrew to move out and head back to his native Guernsey to take time out of the spotlight.

The 26-year-old Strictly actress admitted to feeling “really bad” after their split, but it now appears she has something to cheer about.

She has moved on from Andrew with CBBC presenter Cam Whitnall, 29. He is known for starring in CBBC series One Zoo Three and BBC show OZT Goes Wild alongside his brothers Ty and Aaron.

Cam continues to support the family tradition of working with animals by becoming the managing director of the non-profit The Big Cat Sanctuary.

His enthusiasm is said to have been what attracted Tasha’s interest, as they reportedly bonded over their mutual love for animals. Alora Dog Rescue and Homeward Bound, a Spanish charity, had helped Tassa and her dog Luna, along with Andrew.

The Mirror has been told by Tasha’s representative: “Tasha and Cam have been getting to know each other and have been on a few dates.”

“Tasha and Cam are in the early stages of dating,” a source told the Daily Mail. “They have been seeing each other for around a month now and share so much in common, from a personal and professional standpoint.

Tasha has been “enjoyed getting to know Cam, and there is a lot going for him,” and the two people have a common interest.

Tasha had met Andrew on Love Island in 2022. Andrew has also appeared to move on following their split, as he revealed he is back on the dating scene following his move to Dubai.

The former estate agent joked in a clip on social media that he should apologize for liking a new girl. It appeared as though the relationship had ended.

Earlier this month, Tasha opened up to the Mirror about her split. She said: “I had a great two and a half years with Andrew and I look back with a positive smile on my face as we had great memories together. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out and that’s all that happened and I wish him the best. I’m just moving forward now.”

She admitted that her “dating book is currently closed,” as she stated that Celebs Go Dating would never allow her to try her luck on another dating program. Tasha acknowledged that her main concern is “getting Tash back” now that she fully concentrates on her own well-being.

Kara Tointon gets double mastectomy after mum’s tragic death from ovarian cancer

Kara Tointon has had a double mastectomy seven years after losing her mum, Carol, to ovarian cancer. The EastEnders star, 41, underwent the major operation after finding out she carries the deadly BRCA1 gene.

Announcing that she has undergone a double mastectomy and had her fallopian tubes removed as a preventative measure, she bravely told her followers on Instagram: “You may have heard of the BRCA genes type 1 and 2 and as a carrier it means that I am at a greater risk of both breast and ovarian cancer. Back in 2018 when my mum was undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer, I was asked to take a genetics test. There is a history of both cancers in my family but for various reasons including generational trauma of which I’ll talk more about another time, we hadn’t looked into it until that point. But it was put to us, we took the test and it was confirmed that my mum and I both carried the gene.”

As a mum-of-two, Kara explained that her family came first when she made her decision to have the preventative surgery. She continued: “I was pregnant with my first child at the time, knew I wanted more children if possible so over the next couple of years I was invited to various meetings by the NHS to really become informed and to understand all my options.

I had two preventative surgeries last year after deciding that our family was complete after having my second son in 2021. The first was a double mastectomy, the second a two-part study, a trial. They say that fallopian tubes are where ovarian cancer starts, so they can be removed by removing them after checking out.

Cancer is not typically inherited, but some types, particularly breast, ovarian, colorectal, and prostate cancer, can be influenced significantly by genes and develop in families.

According to its website, “We all have certain genes that are typically protective against cancer.” Any DNA damage that occurs naturally when cells divide is corrected by these genes.

Your risk of developing cancer is significantly increased by inheriting defective or “variants” of these genes because the altered genes cannot repair the damaged cells, which can accumulate and develop into tumors.

The altered gene expressions BRCA1 and BRCA2 are examples of those that raise your risk of developing cancer. A woman’s risk of developing ovarian cancer and breast cancer is greatly increased by having a variant BRCA gene.

After talking about this for a while, she said, “We are finding out more and more about personal genetics, and most people believe in surveillance, but we have been doing this for a couple of years, having MRIs, and waiting for biopsy, we decided that this was the right decision for me and my family.”

“It wasn’t an easy choice, but I’m glad I made it,” he said, and I can now, in retrospect, speak about it properly.

Lego and tattoos – Wales’ role model goalkeeper

Nations League: Wales vs. Denmark

Date: Friday, May 30th, 2018 Kick-off: 18:15 BST

Live coverage on the BBC Sport website and app, as well as live text commentary, BBC Two Wales, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio Wales, and Radio Cymru.

She is already a role model for Manchester United and Wales.

And now that Euro 2025 is approaching, has been demonstrating why many people believe she will be the nation’s future leader.

Safia Middleton-Patel, a 20-year-old goalkeeper, has long hailed Mary Earps as an idol but is starting to take her own brand.

Wales won a stunning 1-1 draw in Sweden thanks to her performance on her competitive international debut last month.

She has also won praise off the pitch for overcoming stigmas surrounding autism after speaking out about her own diagnosis.

From international calls-ups to school vacation camps

The player who was born in Wrexham and is known as simply Saf in the Wales camp did not always want to play football, and certainly not to become a goalkeeper.

Middleton-Patel eventually “wasted” into football after beginning a very early experiment with street dancing or any other sport.

“I was the only girl on the team unfortunately, it wasn’t very big back then,” she told Wales’ BBC Sport back in 2023.

“Every year, I went to a summer camp with the young people.” They didn’t want to enter the goal, so they just threw the young woman in.

“But to be fair, I really enjoyed it, I loved lowering the boys, saving them, and making them angry.”

It served as a means of advancing to regional talent centers before joining Liverpool’s academy before making his 2020 debut for Manchester United.

proud of our heritage

Middleton-Patel, whose father is Indian, is also proud of her south Asian heritage, who proudly wears the Welsh dragon she has worn throughout the age groups.

United consider her to be the first player from an Indian background to play for either the women’s or the men’s sides in one of their senior squads.

And she made her debut alongside fellow Wales international Neil Taylor, another Wales international with Indian heritage, after being first called into the senior set-up in September 2022 and winning a first cap in a 1-0 friendly win over the Philippines in February 2023’s Pinatar Cup.

Awareness of autism

A player who claimed she always felt “different” at the age of 18 received her first Wales cap at a crucial time.

Middleton-Patel, who made her first Championship appearance the day after signing with Coventry United on loan, described how the excruciating emotions turned into a turning point.

She said, “I couldn’t function, I couldn’t speak, I couldn’t regulate my temperature,” before turning to seek help and discovering some answers with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnosis.

I was struggling with simple daily tasks and was being so hard on myself. I said, “I think there’s something wrong with me,” but now that I look at it, I can see that my brain was functioning properly.

Lego and tattoos

Middleton-Patel claims she can sometimes be hyper-focused while playing with her ASD, which she has since described as something of a superpower.

However, she has also developed hercoping strategies, such as those sunglasses that are among the tools, and the therapy of building Lego has resulted in the formation of a United club with close friends Rachel Williams, Leah Galton, and Jess Simpson, with new boxes regularly being brought onto international duty.

The Welsh daffodils’ debut date is printed on her arm, along with a nod to her Harry Potter super fan status, and there is even a Lego tattoo embedded in her arm.

The biggest impact could be made, however, by what she can do with her hands.

Middleton-Patel’s recent player of the match performance in Gothenburg gave Rhian Wilkinson plenty to think about as the veteran Laura O’Sullivan-Jones was sidelined for the tournament.

In the biggest game of her career, she saved eight saves despite only winning her third.

Former forward Gwennan Harries aptly described it as “Outstanding.”

New South Wales take State of Origin series lead

New South Wales jumped out to a 1-0 series lead in the State of Origin after defeating Queensland 18-6 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

Zac Lomax scored two early on for the Blues, while Brian To’o added the other.

The Maroons had a mountain to climb, but Xavier Coates, who capitalized on Latrell Mitchell’s handling error, reduced the deficit in the second half.

Seven minutes into the game, Lomax found Connor Watson after a brilliant one-handed move, who set up full-back Dylan Edwards. Any hope the Maroons had of a late comeback were thwarted.

Lomax remarked, “Our fight and courage was incredible, the way we started.”

For the first time since 1998, New South Wales, the defending champions, won back-to-back games at the Suncorp Stadium.
