Mbappe Can Be Real Madrid ‘Legend’ Like Ronaldo — Ancelotti

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said Monday superstar striker Kylian Mbappe is capable of becoming a legend at the club like all-time top goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mbappe idolised Ronaldo while growing up and after joining Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, has equalled the Portuguese striker’s tally of 33 goals in his first season at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“What I wish for Mbappe is that he is capable of achieving what Ronaldo did at Real Madrid — and I think that he can do it”, Ancelotti told a news conference.

“That means he will be a legend at Real Madrid, like Cristiano Ronaldo is”.

Ronaldo joined Real from Manchester United in 2009 and departed in 2018 as the club’s top scorer with 450 goals.

The 40-year-old, now at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, scored 33 goals in 35 games in his first campaign with Real Madrid.

Mbappe, 26, notched a brace against Leganes in La Liga on Saturday and said it was “very special” to match Ronaldo.

“We know what he means for Real Madrid and me, we speak, he gives me a lot of advice”, Mbappe told Real Madrid TV.

With Madrid still competing on three fronts this season Mbappe has plenty of time to increase his tally.

Ancelotti’s side host Real Sociedad on Tuesday in a Copa del Rey semi-final second leg clash, holding a 1-0 lead from the first leg in San Sebastian.

Should Madrid go on to win the cup, Ancelotti would become their first coach to lift it on three occasions.

“To be close to a final motivates me, it motivates the players and it motivates the club”, said Ancelotti.

“It’s an achievement to play in a final in any competition, so to be so close, to have a small advantage, and because we’ll have the support of our fans obviously motivates us even more”.

Strictly star JB Gill says he was once brutally attacked by his pet pig – and he says it’s probably why his JLS bandmates have always dodged a trip to his farm!

The 38-year-old singer is best known as a member of the group, but has also become a regular on television in recent years with presenting roles on Down on the Farm and Songs of Praise. He has turned to a life of agriculture since his days of initial pop stardom, and he got into trouble on one occasion when he jumped into Ginger’s pen to help her as she was going into labour.

He explained to the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “The first time she had a litter I didn’t know what to expect. I read stories about having to help sheep, cows give birth, get your hand in there. I was prepared to go and do all that. I jumped into her pen, once I knew she was going into labour, and she ran straight at me.

“I was like, ‘Woah, what’s going on?’ I called the vet out … they tried to get in, and she pretty much bit – went to bit them They jumped back out and were like, ‘I’m really sorry, we cannot do anything about it.’ We just had to ride the storm … that’s probably why the boys [Aston Merrygold, Oritse Williams and Marvin Humes] don’t come to the farm!”

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant – who is married to Chloe Tangney and has children, Ace, 11, as well as seven-year-old Chiara with her – recently ditched city life for a peaceful and tranquil rural spot in Kent, and has embraced the chance for a “quiet and peaceful” life.

He told John Lewis and Partners:” The countryside immediately felt like home. “Chloe agreed and added: ‘ We love the peace and tranquility that comes with being on the farm. Life can be hectic and always on the go, so we wanted our moments of rest to be in a place that was quiet and peaceful”.

And dancer Chloe – who tied the knot with her JB in 2014 – wants to pass on their that “everything in life should be sustainable” and that society should “enjoy the world” to their children. She added: “We want to pass the love and respect that we have for our world on to our children, and beyond.”

JB met wife Chloe when she was working as a back up dancer for JLS, and they instantly hit it off. They couple married in 2014 on the Isle of Bute in Scotland. Chloe has been dancing since the age of three, and professionally since she was 18, so JB has been seeking advice from his wife of 10 years while on Strictly.

Speaking to the Mail Online ahead of the contest starting, JB admitted: “To be honest, I probably have the best wife that you could have, for any contestant doing this show, because she comes from that world.

” And although she wasn’t a ballroom dancer, we both understand what goes into it. We know that it’s not easy and it’s going to be difficult. She gets it, she’s been on tours herself. She’s obviously had to partner with other people, that’s just part of the world. So she’s very excited for me. “

Yoko Ono approaching final days on 600-acre farm as heartbreaking daily ‘aim’ revealed

Yoko Ono still lives by one heartbreaking “goal” after John Lennon’s murder, as she approaches her final days living on her 600-acre farm.

A new biography, released last week, paints a picture of the respected artist and John Lennon’s widow, showcasing her tireless dedication to activism and promoting peace, including her collaboration on the iconic Lennon song Imagine.

However, the book’s final chapter reveals that at 92, Yoko has chosen a life of solitude, residing on her expansive farm in upstate New York, where visits from her children, Sean and Kyoko, mean she rarely needs to venture out.

According to her daughter, Yoko has “changed the world ” and is now content to “able to be quiet – listen to the wind and watch the sky”. In the book’s epilogue, author David Sheff highlights how Yoko often stated that her goal after John’s murder was simply “surviving”.

He writes: “She fought her melancholia, and fear and experienced moments of great joy. She used the traumas in her life – her childhood interrupted by war, losing Kyoko, John’s death – to create work that edified, enlightened and inspired,” reports the Mirror US.

“Yoko imagined a better world – and she worked to create one. “

The story of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s meeting in November 1966 at a London gallery, where Yoko was setting up an exhibition of her work, is well-known.

The Beatles star was captivated by her art, and the pair quickly formed a deep connection that led to a passionate, albeit sometimes tumultuous, love affair.

The pair got hitched in March 1969, just before the Beatles disbanded, with a multitude of fans pointing fingers at Yoko for the group’s split. John and Yoko embarked on numerous joint ventures, spanning music to peace activism.

Following John’s murder, Yoko carried on their legacy of peace advocacy, curated global art exhibitions, and continued to produce and perform music, even into her eighties.

Her conceptual art pieces, which advocate for peace and feminism while inspiring people to dream and harness their creativity, are still showcased globally.

Sheff reports that in 2024, a significant retrospective titled ‘Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind’ was unveiled at the Modern in London. He stated: “It was the largest Yoko Ono exhibition ever, with more than two hundred works of art.

Rylan Clark was ready to get down on one knee after a caller’s song suggestion during his Saturday show sent him spinning.

While spinning tunes on his BBC Radio 2 show last Saturday (March 29), the presenter received a request from a caller, Luca, to play one particular song.

On finding out which out tune he was going to play live on air, Rylan appeared totally smitten with the choice, exclaiming: “Oh my God, Luca! I’ve just seen what track you’ve chosen and I think I might propose to you!”

To add to the playful banter, the chuckling caller threw an open invitation Rylan’s way for a unconventional relationship, quipping: “Oh, please! You’re going to be the third in the relationship, then”.

Rylan replied: “That’s fine, babe. I’m happy to be a third wheel. I’m a busy boy”.

Turning up the charm, Luca didn’t hesitate to tell Rylan that his other half is a big fan, tempting the TV favourite with: “Actually, my boyfriend really loves you and he wants to invite you for dinner in our home”.

The song, Gadjo’s 2006 hit So Many Times, took Rylan on a trip down memory lane as he recalled listening to it on repeat during his days as a hairdresser before he found fame on The X Factor.

“I was working at Beverly Cobella and I remember that this was the song that I used to listen to on the train”, he said.

While Rylan jokingly hinted at matrimonial intentions for Luca’s pick, he was once married before. He met his ex-husband Dan Neal on Celebrity Big Brother in 2013 and they tied the knot two years later.

However, after six years together, it was announced that the pair had divorced, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Outside his personal life, Rylan’s career has been on an upward trajectory in recent years since breaking out on The X Factor. He makes frequent appearances on This Morning, hosted the short-lived reboot of Supermarket Sweep and in 2019, he took over Zoe Ball’s afternoon slot on BBC Radio 2, hosting his own show, Rylan on Saturday.

Rivers Chief of Staff Alleges N5bln Bribe Offer to Facilitate Fubara’s Impeachment

Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff to the suspended Rivers Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has come forward with a startling claim, alleging that he was offered a staggering N5 billion bribe to facilitate the impeachment of Fubara, who is currently embroiled in a political crisis.

“I can also open my phone to show you, in the beginning of October 2023, when they approached me with a bribe of N5 billion. It is here in my phone,

” It was for impeachment. It is here. I have it and I have printed it and distributed it, in case, in their evil imagination, they decide to attack me. I already have a son and a brother, “Ehie said on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, monitored by Persecondnews.

According to him, he has evidence of the bribe offer stored on his phone.

The offer, he alleged, was made while he was serving as the majority leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Ehie vehemently denied allegations that he masterminded the October 30, 2023, bombing of the State House of Assembly complex at Fubara’s behest.

Persecondnews recalls that the allegation was made by the immediate past Head of Service in the state, Dr. George Nwaeke, who resigned last week at a news conference on March 28.

Nwaeke had alleged that he personally witnessed a bag of money being handed over to Ehie to carry out an” operation”, although he claimed he did not know the exact amount inside the bag.

Ehie rejected the allegations as” false “and” politically motivated “saying:” It is very important to clarify that I had no hand and was not part of the burning down of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

“Like everyone else, I woke up in the early hours of 30th of October 2023 to hear of the burning down of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

” I will not join issues completely with Mr. George Nwaeke because I have already instructed my lawyers to file an issue of criminal libel against him, and I hope he is very prepared to substantiate his claims and his allegations. “

He further alleged that Nwaeke had sought financial assistance from him on the very same day he resigned as the Head of Service.

Rivers State has been plagued by intense political upheaval, triggered by the highly publicized rift between Fubara and his estranged predecessor, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

This fallout has sparked a fierce power struggle, drawing in various key players, including the State House of Assembly, and culminating in impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara.

The situation has been further complicated by a Supreme Court ruling that reinforced the legitimacy of Speaker Martins Amaewhule, leading to escalating tensions between the governor and the assembly.

President Bola Tinubu had declared a state of emergency in the state on March 18, 2025, and suspended Fubara, his deputy, and all elected members of the House of Assembly for a period of six months.

Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Étè Ibas, whom he swore in on March 19 as the sole administrator, has already taken office.

Five insights from Wrexham’s record financial results

Getty Images

Wrexham have reported record financial results that show they brought in more money as a League Two club than many Championship sides.

The north Wales club – now in League One – confirmed their revenue for their first year back in the English Football League (EFL) was £26.7m.

The figure underlines the impact of the ownership of A-list pair Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and their growing profile.

The full details have been released as Wrexham publish their accounts for the 2023-24 season, which saw the club make a £2.7m loss.

In a report from directors, Wrexham said: “The goal of the new owners is to grow the team and establish Wrexham AFC as a Premier League club in front of increased attendances, and in an improved stadium, while making a positive difference to the wider community in Wrexham”.

Wrexham’s revenue is staggering – but not surprising

Four years ago, before the club’s Hollywood takeover, Wrexham’s non-league revenue was recorded at £1.148m.

The annual turnover has exploded year on year, now rising 155% from last year’s £10.5m to the £26.7m for the season in which they won promotion from League Two at the first attempt. The club believe this is a record for a League Two side.

To put it into context, Deloitte’s most recent annual review of football finance has the League Two average at £5.4m, while Championship clubs – other than those receiving parachute payments – are at £22m.

But it is not unexpected.

Given Wrexham’s global profile, association with huge brands and a stadium naming-rights deal saw commercial revenue boom to £13.18m.

The American dream is paying off

What is not included is revenue from the ‘ Welcome to Wrexham ‘ documentary that has made stars of the club and players such as Paul Mullin.

That is because the club do not actually earn money directly from the show, which airs on both sides of the Atlantic and sees cameras follow Wrexham’s fortunes from the inside.

But its indirect impact is obvious, with the club now seeing more revenue generated from outside the United Kingdom than on these shores.

Wrexham’s story – and shirts – hitting the screens of non-football fans and untapped markets helps explain why they have attracted the sponsorship agreements they have.

Getting promoted is a costly business

Outgoings for the year ending June 2024 include payments to the companies owned by Reynolds and McElhenney for the work done in making the most of the Stateside opportunities and nailing those big commercial deals.

In their accounts, Wrexham said this “significantly assisted us to achieve our record turnover”.

As with any club, the biggest outgoing was wages – of £11m – which explains why Wrexham still posted a loss of £2.72m, albeit one that is down on last year’s £5.11m.

That is despite the wage bill jumping up 59% to a level well above any other side in League Two.

There was also a rise in staff levels, including the semi-pro women’s team in the top-flight Adran Premier as well an increase in off-the-field employees.

And there was a £0.82m payment on promotion bonuses plus work to improve the stadium, including the installation of a new temporary stand.

The loss is still way down on the average yearly loss for a Championship club of around £20m.

Wrexham have been busy making plans for the future

Wrexham have long been keen not to pin all their ambitions on a documentary and the financial rewards that follow.

And the accounts show that as much as the club have benefited from the backing of their celebrity owners, they are not really being bankrolled by them.

According to the strategic financial report accompanying the accounts, a key event after the financial year end was the repayment of loans from Reynolds and McElhenney, that had grown to £15m.

The money was partly tied into funds provided to purchase the lease of the Stok Racecourse in order to develop and expand.

With work on a new Kop stand potentially beginning at the end of the season, further expansion has already been talked about as a way of increasing local revenue streams.

There have been no further charges lodged at Companies House since, meaning the club are loan-free.

There has, though, been investment from the New York-based Allyn family, who have been introduced as minority shareholders.

As well as the stadium, there are plans to develop a training ground and for expansion of facilities for the academy and women’s side.

There could be more to come

With a month of the season to go, Wrexham are still on course for an unprecedented third successive promotion – and could be playing Championship football in four months ‘ time.

Next year’s accounts will take in this campaign, during which the club’s transfer record has been broken on a number of occasions and the wage bill has inevitably risen.

But reaching the second tier for only the second time in the club’s history would mean access to even more revenues.

Just becoming part of the Championship would see a boost to TV payments, while sponsorship deals would expect to be even more prized.

Wrexham have this season made key office appointments that should drive further commercial opportunities.

And there is no sign of the global interest waning, with McElhenney being vocal about wanting to improve the ability to sell Wrexham shirts in the USA given that the club have had more matches screened in the States than any other EFL side.

The Championship would of course mean far greater outgoings, especially with the work on the Kop to limit capacity for a year.
