World Children’s Day tragedy: Gaza’s 5,500 lives lost to Israel’s attacks

A global initiative promoting children’s rights, safety, education, health, and happiness is held every November 20.

In the midst of Israel’s conflict in Gaza, it occurs this year. Children make up about half of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents.

At least 5,500 children have died as a result of Israeli attacks since October 7, according to Palestinian officials. One Palestinian child is killed in the Gaza Strip every ten minutes, or roughly one out of every 200 kids.

Under the debris, 1,800 more kids are missing, the majority of whom are thought to be dead. There have been an additional 9, 000 injuries, many of which have had fatal repercussions. Many of these kids have experienced multiple wars’ trauma.

Less than half of the children killed over the previous six weeks are listed by name and age in the infographic below.
