Scottie Scheffler, the world’s number one, is not worried that his “stupid” hand injury from Christmas Day will have an adverse impact on his game.

The 28-year-old had the most successful year of his career in 2024, winning the Masters, the Players Championship and Olympic gold in Paris.

After severely severing his right hand from a broken wine glass, the American had to have surgery.

Scheffler is recovering from the operation and will compete in this week’s AT&amp, T Pebble Beach Pro-Am for the first time this year.

Asked if he is anxious about a possible impact from the surgery, he said: “Not at all.

” It’s one of those deals where immediately after it happened I was mad at myself because I was like ‘ gosh, that’s so stupid’, but you just don’t think about it when you’re in the moment, “the two-time Masters champion added.

“It wasn’t terrible, but I was aware that my hand was kind of messed up just because it wasn’t really moving, and if I did move it, it hurt pretty bad.” I was a little suspicious of what was going on.

Scheffler has missed two tournaments as a result of the injury, but he has no plans to re-book his schedule to compete in additional tournaments.

” Missing those two events is not fun, I enjoy playing them, “he said.

I don’t want to alter my schedule’s flow and cadence just because I missed two. I’ll add one if I want to add more reps to my repertoire.

Scheffler finished joint-sixth at last year’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which was reduced to three rounds because of adverse weather.

The American, who is paired with amateur David Abeles, tees off at 17: 01 (GMT) on Thursday at Spyglass Hill.
