With a 6-3 victory over Mark Williams, world champion Kyren Wilson defeated world champion Mark Williams to reach the semi-finals of the Players Championship in Telford.

Before a break of 68 levelled the match, Williams had a risky shot that gave him a 2-0 lead before a break of 68 levelled the game.

The pair kept fighting, winning by taking a frame each, but Wilson overcame the frame breaks of 61, 79, and 71.

Wilson told ITV4: “Mark’s so good you can’t allow him into a game and I should have gone at least 3-1 up in the interval.

“If anything, Mark probably felt that he had won that little mini-session to end things 2-2, so I had to go back and win the next frame to end things 3-2,” I said.

In the final four, Wilson will play either Neil Robertson or Mark Selby.
