Who Will Win The Oscar? The 10 Best Picture Nominees

After a twisty awards season in which favorites have quickly risen and spectacularly failed, “Conclave” and “Anora” are both predicted by experts to win best picture at Sunday’s Oscars gala.
The 97th Academy Awards nominated the following 10 movies for the biggest prize:
‘Anora’
Anora, a filmmaker’s film about class, capitalism, and Cinderella dreams, is almost universally admired.
It won the Cannes festival’s top prize in May, becoming the first US film since 2011. However, Oscars’ long-awaited success abroad was not entirely certain.
Anatra won numerous awards from Hollywood’s producers, directors, writers, and critics, making it the year’s winner after leaving the Golden Globes in January.

‘Conclave’
The twisty thriller “Conclave,” based on a Robert Harris novel about the enigmatic and conflicting politics of pope-picking, has soared at the last minute to join “Anora” for the top prize.
It debuted at the Telluride Film Festival in August, drawing mixed reviews. When it won the top prize at Britain’s BAFTAs, that dramatically changed as the awards season progressed.
The Oscar-nominated actress Isabella Rossellini and Ralph Fiennes and “Conclave” received the top award from Hollywood’s Screen Actors Guild last weekend.

The Brutalist is a movie.
Adrien Brody, who plays a brilliant architect and Holocaust survivor, is likely to win the second-best actor award for the film adaptation of “The Brutalist.”
It could also serve as the best picture’s dark horse.
The longest nominated movie, which was shot for less than $10 million, looks like a lavish Hollywood epic but runs more than three and a half hours (with intermission).

“A Complete Unknown,”
The legendary folk singer himself supported this classic biopic of a young Bob Dylan, which was the final Oscars contender to be put on the ballot last year.
Eight nominations were quickly received in favor.
Timothee Chalamet, 29, is the film’s best-looking shot at glory, though some have suggested a surprise best picture.

‘Wicked’
The beloved Broadway musical “Wicked” about the illustrious years of the “Wizard of Oz” villain is playing on the big screen.
With a staggering $ 730 million box office worldwide, it is the biggest blockbuster on the list.
Voters may anticipate the lavish adaptation’s second and final film.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, however, won’t let that deter them from staging a highly anticipated live musical Oscars show.

Emilia Perez
A more tumultuous campaign was featured in “Emilia Perez” than any other movie.
Netflix purchased the musical from French director Jacques Audiard before making its Cannes debut. It is about a drug cartel boss who transitions to a woman’s life and turns her back on crime.
It received 13 nods, including one for the Golden Globes, and was on top of the list of Oscar nominees.
However, when Karla Sofia Gascon’s racist tweets, which were criticized for the film’s use of artificial intelligence and cliches, came out, the film’s prospects were lost.

The substance, “The Substance”
This entry about an aging Hollywood star who is dependent on a dangerous youth serum is even more insulting than “The Exorcist,” which is one of the few horror movies that has ever received the best picture award.
Demi Moore, the star of “The Substance,” is a favorite for best actress, despite the fact that too many Academy voters were expecting it to win.

“I’m Still Here,”
The drama about a family that has been torn apart by Brazil’s military dictatorship was always a strong contender for best foreign movie.
However, the film received a significant surprise by also receiving a best picture nomination.
“I’m Still Here” has generated ferocious levels of support normally reserved for Brazil’s soccer World Cups, with organizers of Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival parades planning to broadcast live Oscar updates. Fernanda Torres is also up for best actress.

‘Dune: Part Two’, ‘&#;
“Dune: Part Two” received excellent reviews in addition to being a huge commercial success, with $ 715 million at the global box office exceeding the original.
The epic sci-fi sequel was released in February 2024, which is not typically the year for Oscar contenders, and it received only five nominations, with Denis Villeneuve receiving nod for director.
The likelihood of a third “Dune” the following year lowers its hopes for the best of the two.

Nickel Boys ‘
With its inventive use of first-person perspective, “Nickel Boys” won over critics as it introduced audiences to the trauma and abuse experienced by young Black boys at a infamous 1960s Florida reform school.
With a budget of only $2.8 million, it is by far the smallest box office nominated movie.
