West Ham have cancelled a planned news conference with head coach Julen Lopetegui, with the Spaniard’s future at the club looking increasingly uncertain.
The 58-year-old was due to speak to the media on Wednesday, before the FA Cup third-round tie with Aston Villa on Friday.
The Hammers are in discussions with former Chelsea and Brighton boss Graham Potter about replacing him, initially on a temporary basis, with the expectation that Lopetegui will be fired.
West Ham has spoken to former AC Milan boss Paulo Fonseca and former Paris St-Germain coach Christophe Galtier, both of whom are currently employed by the Saudi Pro League.
However, both camps hold that Potter will succeed.
Prior to last month’s home game against Wolves, Lopetegui was on the verge of losing. But victory in that match triggered a four-game unbeaten run, West Ham’s best of the season.
