Even though Thomas Tuchel’s first game as the Three Lions manager ended with a 2-0 victory over Albania, he says England “must do better.”

Myles Lewis-Skelly’s Arsenal teen Myles Lewis-Skelly’s debut goal and Harry Kane’s 70th international strike made it a successful opening day of their World Cup campaign.

An Albanian side, who kept 11 players behind the ball for extended periods of the Wembley match, did little to improve the England display.

Tuchel told ITV, “We can do better, but we must do better.”

“We had a good start, and we had a lot of high energy and pass-for-ball possession for seven or eight minutes.”

As they defend in a significant block, the opponent is difficult to break down. They were able to avoid conceding chances at the Euros [last year].

“We were too slow, in general, and not enough runs off the ball to get behind the line,” I thought in the second half.

For his first game in charge, Tuchel made some risky choices, including debuting Lewis-Skelly and Newcastle defender Dan Burn.

The German received encouraging displays from both, with Lewis-Skelly scoring a neat finish through the goalkeeper’s legs for the opening 20-minute play and Kane adding a second in the 77th minute.

Tuchel described the 18-year-old Gunners left-back as an “amazing player”.

Amazing personality . He immediately exhibited that falling in love with him was normal.

Our wingers “weren’t as powerful as they could be.”

Marcus Rashford’s first start for England in a year was another unexpected choice by Tuchel.

The Manchester United forward, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, occasionally had good communication with Jude Bellingham, but he also made some poor decisions in the final third.

Phil Foden, a forward for Manchester City, struggled to impose himself as he moved to the right of the forward line.

Tuchel added that both of our starting wingers were not as impactful as they could be or as their club football counterparts.

I need to look at the match because I’m not so sure why we struggled to bring the ball to them more quickly and to put the ball in more of an open position.

It was a little too much passing and not enough dribbling because we didn’t get many runs off the ball. Not aggressive enough in the direction of the goal.
