VIDEO: ‘Excessive’, Soyinka Faults Tinubu’s Emergency Rule In Rivers
Professor Wole Soyinka, the Nobel Laureate, has criticised Rivers State’s declaration of state of emergency.
Soyinka, who appeared in an interview on Morning Brief, a special edition of Channels Television, called the situation excessive.
Due to the state’s political unrest and instability, Tinubu on Tuesday proclaimed state of emergency control over the oil-rich state.
Additionally, he initially suspended the Rivers Assembly members Ngozi Odu, the governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara, and all of their immediate neighbors for a period of six months.
Ibok-Ete Ibas, a retired naval chief, was immediately made the state’s sole administrator by the president.
