Varsity professor assassinated in his home
 , Tragedy struck in Umueji, Asaba, the Delta State capital, when Prof. Emeka Chukwuma, a 56-year-old lecturer at Delta State University, Abraka, was brutally murdered by gunmen in his own home.
The professor had only just arrived in his hometown on Friday and was anticipating a restful weekend.
A source said: “Prof. Emeka Chukwuma was assassinated in Asaba on Friday night. After the conversion of Anwai campus to Dennis Osadebey University, he later returned to the Delta State University, Abraka, Anwai campus.
“Prof. Chukwuma typically returns home every weekend, but it’s unfortunate that he was killed in his place in the Asaba’s St. Bridges neighborhood on the weekend.
“As I speak to you now, Asaba is no longer safe, we are confused over the situation”.
Confirming the incident, the state police command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe said the police have launched a man-hunt for the assassins with a view to bringing them to justice.
