Trump Wants US To Co-Own TikTok, Says Will Delay Ban

When Donald Trump becomes president on Monday, he promised to pass an executive order halting TikTok’s expansion and suggested that the US purchase the app’s 50 percent stake in its American subsidiary.

The Republican stated on his Truth Social platform that “to facilitate a deal,” adding that his executive order would allow for an extension of the time before a law banning the video-sharing app ultimately comes into effect.

According to him, “the initial thought was to create a joint venture between the current owners and/or new owners where the United States receives a 50% stake in the joint venture set up by the United States and whichever purchase we so choose.”
