Troops Neutralise Terrorist Kingpin In Zamfara, Recover Arms

Troops of 1 Brigade, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma have neutralised a notorious terrorist kingpin, Sani Rusu in Zamfara state.

Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the state’s coordinator of Operation Fansan Yamma in the state, said the feat was accomplished over the weekend when the troops conducted a fighting patrol to Bamamu Village in Tsafe Local Government Area.

According to the statement, Operation Fansan Yamma’s troops also claimed they neutralized some terrorists while others suffered fatal injuries during an ambush operation that was conducted based on reliable information about terrorist activities at Kwanar Jollof in Shinkafi LGA, Zamfara State.

The operation also led to the recovery of one AK47 rifle and one G3 rifle, alongside 8 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 4 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 3 magazines and 3 motorcycles.

On December 30, 2024, the Air Component Operation Fansan Yamma launched air strikes against terrorists whose convergent locations in the Shinkafi LGA, Fakai and Kware.

According to information, the airstrike was launched in response to a tip that Bello Turji-led terrorists had convened a meeting there.

In a follow-up operation on January 2, 2025, the Air Component carried out airstrikes in Sububu Forest’s Maikaman Rini area to support the ground troops’ operations against Ibrahim Chumo’s camp, the area’s kingpin.

On January 5, 2025, the troops also carried out offensive operations in the Chida region of Shinkafi.

A number of terrorists were injured and their hiding places were discovered by aerial surveillance, which revealed that during these operations, they had suffered significant casualties.

Operation Fansan Yamma assured the general public of its unwavering commitment to eradicating all terrorist threats in the region’s Joint Task Force Theatre.
