In military exercises in Taraba and Plateau States, the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke and Sector 2 Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) collaborated to destroy bandits’ hideouts.

Additionally, they were successful in detaining a number of alleged gunrunners who had been wreaking havoc in the states.

Captain Olubodunde Oni, the 6 Brigade’s Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, made this known in a statement on Sunday.

He claimed that the troops launched an offensive on March 22 at Achalle, a border town between Taraba’s Karim Lamido Local Government Area (LGA) and Plateau’s Wase Local Government Area.

The troops attacked and disarmed armed bandits during the operation, recovering a motorcycle before moving on to a different stronghold.

The troops “resisted at the second location, which had over 70 huts,” but they were able to outnumber the criminals with more firepower. One Muhammadu Dahiru’s international passport and another motorcycle that is thought to be related to the syndicate were recovered, according to the statement.

Later, Oni claimed the troops cleared the Dutsen Zaki high ground, neutralizing threats there.

Similar to March 16, troops descended on Irimiya Aboki and Tanko Adamu, infamous gunmen, in Mararraba Donga, Donga LGA, to raid their homes.

Four pistols, one pump-action rifle, and six cartridges were recovered by security personnel despite the suspects’ escape.

Alhaji Mansur Mohammad, a suspected gunrunner, was detained in Donga LGA in a second operation on March 20.

In Taraba State, troops are seen conducting a coordinated operation against bandits.

He was discovered with $1. 2 million, which is thought to be used to buy weapons without authorization. The funds were linked to Bauchi State sponsors, the statement added.

No Money No Guy, a alleged bandit leader, was apprehended by troops the same day, along with Adamu Yakubu, a security official.

He allegedly had ties to numerous kidnappings and violent crimes in Taraba and the Katsina-Ala LGA. He and six associates were involved in a deadly March 10 attack in Katsina-Ala, which left two people dead and others injured, according to security reports.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, the commander of the 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, praised the soldiers’ dedication.
