Tottenham’s Bentancur taken off on stretcher after injury against Liverpool

Just six minutes into the first leg of Tottenham’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool, Rodrigo Bentancur was taken off on a stretcher.

The 27-year-old Uruguay international stuttered as he stretched to head a ball from a corner without being challenged.

Before being replaced by forward Brennan Johnson, Bentancur was treated on the pitch for about nine minutes and given oxygen.

He will now be taken to the hospital for further examinations after it has been confirmed that he is conscious and talking.
