Tinubu Should Restore Fubara As Governor, Administrator Unconstitutional – NBA

The President’s removal of Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of the Rivers State, by President Bola Tinubu has been called upon to reverse by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to reiterate its position.

The governor, his deputy, and all members of the House of Assembly were suspended on Tuesday due to the political unrest that is roiling the oil-rich state, which the president declared a state of emergency in Rivers State.

Ibok-Ete Ibas, a retired naval chief, was appointed the state’s sole administrator by the President.

The NBA, whose president, Afam Osigwe, was a guest on Sunday Politics, insists that Fubara must be reinstated as the governor of Rivers State because the constitution does not allow a sole administrator.

When asked if the president should call the governor, Osigwe said on the program, “That is what we believe, that is what we expect the president to do,” he said. “We believe that the president should do that, to restore him (Fubara) to power after he was unlawfully removed.”

Because of their unconstitutional appointment, we do not accept that a sole administrator is the one who is entitled to occupy the government building in Rivers State.

The constitution does not recognize an administrator, so I was unsure of the oath he was taking even when I saw him take the oath of office because he was taking an oath that was unknown to the constitution. ”

According to Osigwe, a senior advocate of Nigeria, the issue in Rivers State is being treated incorrectly, likening it to a headache-causing sledgehammer user.
