Tinubu Departs Abuja For Energy Summit In Tanzania

Bola Tinubu, the president’s travel companion, will travel to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for the 2025 Africa Heads of State Energy Summit.

The Tanzanian government hosts the summit in collaboration with the World Bank and the African Development Bank Group.

According to the presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the President would join other African leaders, private sector leaders, development partners, and civil society groups in Dar es Salaam to strategise to accelerate energy access across the continent.

The Summit will provide a platform for sharing knowledge, expertise, and resources to address Africa’s energy challenges, according to a Saturday statement by his Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga.

Discussions will focus on accelerating energy access in underserved regions, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and mobilising private sector investment.

Onanuga stated that Nigeria and other participating nations would present their national energy strategies, known as compacts, outlining their strategies for achieving universal access to energy within five years on the first day of the summit.

According to him, heads of state would ratify the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, which sets out a comprehensive timeline for Africa’s progress in the Mission 300 goals, on the second day.

He noted that “President Tinubu will make a national statement reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to achieving universal access to energy and its leadership in Africa’s energy sector.”
