‘This unusual £45 LED skin device got rid of my breakouts in weeks’

Blue LED light can be more advantageous for spot-prone skin because it kills acne-causing bacteria, compared to red LED light, which is known for its ability to calm irritation and boost collagen products. And I’ve been testing a special kind of blue LED mask that, in my opinion, has significantly reduced my imperfections.

The ClearSkin SOLO blue light device from LUSTRE, an at-home beauty tool, is a clever stick-on device that targets specific facial areas. It’s ideal if you only experience breakouts in a certain area. It is typically priced at £63, but it has been reduced to £44.10 at the time of writing, saving you 30%.

Pros

I like using a red LED mask over my entire face because I have persistent blemishes on my chin but skin on the rest of my face is okay (it’s one of the cheaper ones), so I found this little palm-sized tool really appealing.

To begin, you apply a strip of double-sided medical adhesive to your skin and apply it to the affected area using the ClearSkin SOLO. The device comes with 30 strips of the device. When used on clean, skincare-free skin, they are actually very sticky and don’t fall off during the device’s 20-minute program, but they also quickly and without causing any irritation.

It’s incredibly simple to use, leaves you hands free, doesn’t interfere with watching TV like some full-face LED masks, and sounds a lot like a handy beep when it shuts off. The strip on your face will remain sticky if your skin isn’t too oily, and you can use it a few more times.

I’m notoriously bad at sticking to skin tools for long enough to see results, so I’m not going to pretend I used this three times a week, for 2-3 weeks, and then actually noticed a change in my skin. I did have fewer spots than usual, and those that did still irritate and aggravate me were none the less.

I’m not saying that using this mask was all about it; I did, however, have a great new probiotic and was back on my favorite AG1 drink, which I think also helped, and the results were convincing enough to keep using this clever little patch going.

There are some drawbacks to the change, which only lasts a few uses and requires repurchasing the sticky strips (or finding other strong but skin-safe ones). However, the results I’ve seen make it worthwhile for me.
