This Morning’s Alison Hammond breaks down in tears as show legend leaves after 10 years

After working on the program for ten years, Allison Hammond was moved to tears when she learned that Martin Frizell, the show’s editor, was leaving today.
At the conclusion of the show, Alison and co-host Josie Gibson asked him to sit down on the couch and thanked him for his efforts. They also revealed that Martin hired them both to be morning show presenters. As her voice became enraged, Alison remarked, “He’s the one who took a chance on us and transformed our careers.” We just want to thank you very much for what we have been given. We cherish you.
The team from This Morning is devastated to see you leave, she continued, “We think you are incredible.” I just want to say thanks to you for molding me into a presenter when I didn’t even believe in myself.
Martin responded, “If you were rubbish, you wouldn’t be on TV.” You are excellent, I say. It has been a fantastic experience.
Prior to the start of the show, Josie had made the announcement that Martin would leave. She had referred to it as a “very sad day.”
Because our editor, Martin, is retiring, she said, adding that Martin had taken control of Friday’s jukebox, making it a very special day and a very sad day for us. As Shania Twain’s iconic 1997 anthem “Man!”, Alison Hammond reaffirmed that “He’s got quite good taste, our editor.” I’m Feeling Like a Woman. played in the background. He “has good taste,” he said. He employs us, after all! Alison responded with “very true!” while Josie retorted cheekily. Good point, babe, and good point.
In November 2024, Martin made the announcement that he would step down from the show. The 66-year-old made the decision in order to spend more time with his wife, TV journalist Fiona Phillips, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2022.
I need to give my family time because I anticipate that my priorities will change next year. I love my ITV team and I’ll miss the thrill of watching live television, but I can’t do both because it’s an ongoing commitment, including a 24-hour day commitment to working on it seven days a week, as he said last year. Between us, we’ve produced more than 6,000 hours of live topical television, or about 20 000 items, which is a privilege.
“Despite the gongs being always nice, I’m most proud of the changes we’ve made to so many lives, some of which were saved by our campaigns against menopause, testicular cancer, and “how-to” items. For any broadcast journalist, this juggernaut is the most difficult test.
