Taylor Swift referred to her Era Tour as “the most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date” (poignant).

The 152-date tour, which kicked off in Glendale, Arizona in March 2023 finally came to a close in Vancouver, Canada, last night. The shows, a 3.5 hour spectacular packed with rarities, hits, and fan favourites from Taylor’s enormous back catalogue, became a cultural phenomenon, and included eight sold out nights at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Last night, the 34-year-old reflected on the past 19-months. We will never forget you giving us that moment, she told the crowd. You created such a place of joy, togetherness, and love, and I couldn’t be more proud of you for that.

After 19 months on the road, Taylor Swift's massive Eras Tour has come to an end.
After 19 months on the road, Taylor Swift’s massive Eras Tour has come to an end.

” It has been the most exciting, powerful, electrifying, intense, most challenging thing I have ever done in my entire life.

“We have to perform for over 10 million people on this tour, and tonight we have to play one last show in beautiful Vancouver.”

Taylor’s Midnights album, 2022, featured Taylor’s song Karma, which closed the tour. She then gave her dancers on stage hugs as they tried to hold back their tears.

TayTay and her legion of Swifties also experienced that emotion. Before fans sang happy birthday to her ahead of her 35th birthday on Friday, she took out her earpieces to enjoy the ovation before singing Champagne Problems from the Evermore album.

Taylor also expressed her feelings in a 10-minute version of her song All Too Well, in which she praised fans’ traditions, passion, and “unmatched” care for this tour.

During a surprise last set, Swift said she “decided to go back to the beginning” with a mash-up of A Place In This World from her debut self-titled 2006 album, alongside New Romantics from her 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album – which she played on guitar.

Instead of a decade, she changed the lyrics to her 2010 song Long Live, which was combined with New Year’s Day from the Reputation album and The Manuscript from The Tortured Poets Department. A dancer said “for the last time, no,” in a nod to the previous performance in We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together.

Before October and November, the tour’s final stop was on the European leg in August. According to estimates, The Eras Tour has generated more than $1 billion in revenue, with cities hosting the tour also receiving financial gain from more visitors as fans book hotels and take mini vacations from concerts.

However, the tour wasn’t totally drama free. In the summer, Swift had to cancel three sold-out shows in Vienna after police uncovered an alleged plot by terrorists. Later, the CIA’s head claimed that the suspects had planned to kill “tens of thousands” of fans before the organization discovered information that stifled the execution and led to arrests.

Swift called the cancellation of the European leg of the tour “devastating,” but it “filled me with a new sense of fear.”

Taylor’s use of private jets caused backlash, despite her team’s claim that she paid for the offset of her carbon emissions. In response, outrage ensued after receiving police protection typically reserved for politicians and members of the royal family.

Earlier this week, Taylor was named Spotify’s most-played artist of the year with more than 26.6 billion streams. She was also nominated for six Grammy Awards and received seven nominations for MTV Video Music Awards.
