A popular Australian indie rock band helped Taylor Swift make the ideal birthday present for Harry Styles’ ex-boyfriend in the past.
The 35-year-old billionaire hitmaker dated Harry, the 30-year-old One Direction star, from late 2012 until early 2013, with worldwide interest in the romantic relationship. And now, over a decade since the couple split, fresh secrets are emerging about their romance.
The Temper Trap, an Australian rock band, have revealed that Taylor once requested them to assist in the creation of Harry’s birthday present. The group – consisting of singer Dougy Mandagi, bass player Jonathon Aherne, drummer Toby Dundas and keyboardist Joseph Greer – are behind the 2008 smash single Sweet Disposition.
Harry had the lyrics from the song tattooed on his arm because it was such a fan. However, the Little Things singer got the lyrics wrong – permanently inking “Won’t stop ‘ til we surrender” instead the correct words “Won’t stop to surrender”.
The Temper Trap have been sharing details about each of the tracks since their debut album, Conditions, which was released 15 years ago, which led them to disclose details about Taylor’s request. Frontman Dougy, 44, revealed in a TikTok video: “We heard about the tattoo before. We were on tour, I remember, I think he tweeted that he got it.
” So then, you know, it was brought to our attention. ‘ That’s Harry Styles, blah, blah, blah. ‘ Then we started laughing about how it was incorrect.
He continued:” And then fast forward, I don’t know, whatever, in the future, we were at the ARIAs and Taylor Swift was a presenter or something. She came to our green room, with a piece of paper, and she goes, ‘ Can you write the lyrics for my boyfriend? It’s his birthday. ‘
“We were like, ‘ Ok, cool. ‘ So my dilemma was, do I write the right lyrics? Or do I write the wrong lyrics? I can’t remember which way I wrote”.
The One Direction singer has occasionally made a few references to the Cruel Summer singer in interviews despite Harry and Taylor keeping a reasonable silence about their previous romance despite reportedly preferring to talk about it through song. He and Taylor discussed an infamous photo that he and Taylor shared while working on a cover for Rolling Stone Magazine in 2017.
He remarked: “When I see photos from that day, I think: Relationships are hard, at any age. And mentioning that you struggle to navigate the system at age 18 without really understanding how it operates didn’t help.
” I mean, you’re a little bit awkward to begin with. You’re dating a real person. It should be that simple, right? Without a doubt, it was a learning experience. But the main goal was for it to be a regular date.
Asked if her songs Out of the Woods and Style were about him, Harry replied:” I mean, I don’t know if they’re about me or not… but the issue is, she’s so good, they’re bloody everywhere. “He added:” I write from my experiences, everyone does that. I’m lucky if everything]we went through] helped create those songs. “
