Taylor given one-month ban after failed drugs test

PDC

The Darts Regulation Authority has issued a one-month ban on Dominic Taylor after he failed a drug test.

At a Players Championship event last year, the 26-year-old Englishman tested positive for a banned substance.

Shortly before a match against former world champion Michael Smith at the Players Championship finals in November, he was forced to withdraw.

Taylor was immediately suspended and was unable to compete in the World Championship, but he is now free to compete in the qualifying rounds for the World Masters in Milton Keynes on Wednesday.

A potential two-year ban was reduced after the Bristol-based world number 82’s performance-enhancing substance was proven to be taken outside of competition and at a disciplinary hearing.

He also committed to completing a three-month treatment programme approved by UK Anti-Doping.

The committee was satisfied that the prohibited substance was ingested outside of competition, according to the DRA.
