Tamim Iqbal: Bangladesh cricketer recovering at clinic after heart attack

After suffering a significant heart attack during a domestic match, former Bangladeshi captain Tamim Iqbal has now recovered and is speaking to his family, according to cricket officials.
When Tamim, 36, was rushed to a nearby hospital after complaining of a severe chest pain on Monday, Mohammedan Sporting Club was playing a 50-over match of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL).
He is now more effective. He spoke with members of his family, and he briefly walked into the hospital, according to club official Tariqul Islam on Tuesday.
Tamim is in a stable condition, according to Mohammedan physiotherapist Enamul Haque, who said she was likely going to be moved to a new hospital soon.
Enamul told AFP, “We had to go to the hospital right away to save his life, and we did that.”
The hospital’s medical director, Razeeb Hasan, reported to reporters on Monday that Tamim was in critical condition when he was rushed there.
He added that Tamim needed to have stents implanted to clear an artery blockage.
The cricketing world reacted to Tamim’s health crisis with a swell of support.
“Pray that my brother Tamim recovers quickly and gets back to playing”! Shakib Al Hasan, a long-time teammate, shared a post on social media.
The all-rounder claimed that because of the news, Tamim had a heart attack on the same day as Shakib’s 38th birthday.
Yuvraj Singh, an Indian cricket player, also offered his “prayers and wishes.”
This will be the same as when you’ve faced tough opponents before and emerged stronger,” he said. Wishing you a quick recovery. Stay strong, Yuvraj remarked on social media.
Tamim was the Bangladeshi team’s one-day captain and participated in 391 matches across all formats between 2007 and 2023.
He is the only Bangladeshi to have ever recorded centuries in all three international formats and has over 15 000 runs scored.
