Suspected Cultists Hack Poly Student, One Other To Death In Kwara State

A female Higher National Diploma (HND) student at the Federal Polytechnic, Offa in Kwara State, and an unidentified man were both killed outside the school grounds by suspected cultists.
The incident was confirmed by state police on Friday, and an investigation has been launched to find the perpetrators.
According to the institution’s acting spokesperson, Folake Oyinloye, “Management of Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State has started an investigation into the assassination by some unidentified attackers of Miss Todyin Bamidele, an HND 1 Food Technology student of the school.”
The murder of Bamidele, who was allegedly murdered on Thursday, November 16, 2023, in her rented apartment, was met with rude shock.
The other victim, who was allegedly the cult leader, was killed inside the school’s grounds with a machete.

Toyin was pursued to her home in the Dapson neighborhood of the town, where she was rumored to be the girlfriend of a rival group’s leader.
When the attackers arrived and mauled her to death, she was washing her clothes at her home at Dapson Hostel, a private hostel situated along the Atari campus of the institution.
Further research suggested that the deaths might be related to the now-famous “Sign out” ceremony, which graduates in Nigerian tertiary institutions celebrate at the conclusion of the academic year.
However, rival cult groups have turned it into wartime in some schools.
According to the source, who requested anonymity, the deceased was allegedly attacked by the opposing cult group while washing her clothes at her house and killed by hacking.
Some of us had to flee for our safety when we heard the sound of the invasion, according to a local who spoke under the condition of anonymity.
However, after the attack, which lasted for about fifteen minutes, we arrived at her room and found the deceased’s lifeless body. We then reported the incident to the appropriate authorities.
