‘Suspect Using Police Against Me’, Kano Anti-Graft Chair Speaks On Arrest
Muhuyi Rimingado, the head of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (CPACC), alleges that one of the suspects under investigation by his commission used the police to make his arrest.
Rimingado, who was a guest on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief programme on Monday, said his arrest last week was about his duty as the chairman of the anti-corruption agency.
He described the development as unsurprising, noting that “corruption is fighting back. When you fight corruption, corruption will fight back. Anti-corruption fight (is) fair but corruption fight is dirty”.
Rimingado claimed that three distinct federal agencies have been working against him, claiming that “many things are happening against my person” in general.

The Kano anti-graft chair explained why he was detained last week and that it was related to an alleged fraud involving a former Kano Agricultural Supply Company Limited (KASCO) managing director.
According to him, “A public officer uncovered the siphoning of about N4 billion of funds from the Kano State Government through various entities.”
We conducted an investigation into that public official, and we seized the property in accordance with the law’s regulations and laws. We did and brought the matter before the court, and Section 40 of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has adequate provisions.
He used a number of tactics to snatch away the evidence from the crime after the arraignment and the arrest of the accused, which is against the law. So we made the necessary steps, including moving the property from its current safe location to prevent it from being tampered with until the court decides the matter. That, in my opinion, is what set off their passion.
They now activate the police to make an arrest on the grounds that they can’t wait for the court proceedings and are aware that they will fail.
He said the policemen who came for his arrest accused him of abuse of power, mischief, and trespass. He claimed that his commission had the authority to prosecute those who engaged in corrupt behavior and that he had no objection to the accusations.
